our reception is in my local community club and they have a massive field, there will be a lot of children and after such a long day i thought it would be nice to have something fun for them which would give the adults a break aswell. it will be in may so 7 will still be quite light and things like bouncy castles, garden checkers, sumo suits and gladiator poles would be a good laugh maybe even for the adults, but as we all know we cant control the weather so is it worth the risk because if it rains the children wont be able to play and it could be a complete waste of money what do you think?
my mum did suggest getting a few of the things from places like homebargains or toy stores rather than hiring so if they dont get used at least i can keep them for another day so not such a waste of money

i really like that idea actually!!! brings that something extra to ur day and if it keeps the kids amused for a good while its worth it
u could always look at getting a big gazebo also to put some of the games under so if it does get a bit ickky at least there will be some under cover adn be able to play wtih xx

good idea! kids can get bored... and so can adults! how about some outdoor/indoor games which could be used either inside or out dependant on weather? they do large jenga now, quoits, dominoes, blow up ball pools, maybe even have a corner made into a sand pit with buckets and spades etc (though might get a bit messy!) We are planning on having a casino to keep people amused and the same company also does Wii hire and giant Scaletrix which might appeal to the kid in us all!!

have a look around for bouncy castle hire aswell some charities are really cheap we are getting one for my little boy and its only £35 for the day & they bring it set it up & collect it xx

You can buy things like giant twister, snakes and ladders etc.
One thing with bouncy castles etc. They do not mix well with alcohol. A friend of mine got carried off on a spinal board. Put me right off the idea, as fun it is.

word of caution with bouncy castles, alot of venues ask you for additional insurance now if you have a bouncy castle, also health and safety documentation and someone has to be with it the entire time.because of the accidents recently
CommentAuthorbridetobe1990
oh i didnt realise that MRS Tiggs ooh maybe no bouncy castle then :s i really like the gazebo idea bridebecca. that would be handy. i dont think the bouncy castle would be used for long as then it is disco time and buffet ect and by the time food is done it would be dark and it would be deflated so maybe we could possibly get away with it?? cant do too much damage with checkers sumo suits maybe?? but will have to seriously think this through can anyone think of other games??
and have you all seen the big garden games in those shops i talked about? they are quite cheap if anybody else would like to look in to this idea aswell
CommentAuthorMrs (Dove) Pidgeon
I may own a couple... just waiting for some good weather now!!

they should be fun if we can pull it off at least then there is a lot on the venue for everyone xx
CommentAuthorbridetobe1990
would it be too corny to have games such as tug-o-war or sack races?? im sure they cant really have too many health and safety issues
CommentAuthorMrs Daltry
go in to places like poundland, soft foam bat and ball sets for a pound,,,blow up skittles a pound, hoopla sets a pound, bubble blowers a pound,i get loads for my kids from there, keeps them entertained for hours
CommentAuthorbridetobe1990
brilliant it was my mums idea originally i must admit cant take the credit, not bad for someone who has never been married haha
CommentAuthorNHR115
I think it's a fab idea and Becca has hit it spot on with the gazebo. I love sack races and tug o war. The ages of the kids will really be the deciding factor on what games to have. xxx
CommentAuthorbridetobe1990
as little to 2 and up to 15 so there is a wide range i think a variety is the best idea
CommentAuthorNHR115
Definitely agree hun. xxx
CommentAuthorbridetobe1990

CommentAuthorbridetobe1990
are you not worried bout the insurance and health and safety hails? we have a small budget so im worried since someone mentioned it
CommentAuthorMrsowen2b
we are wanting a bouncy castle and im also buying giant jenga and giant connect 4 as me and h2b are jenga lovers and alot of our nights in with friends involve jenga so it would just scream out our personalities.
CommentAuthorYourFirstDanceBride
We got some but they were never used because the children entertained themselves running around etc and everyone was too busy with drink reception and photographs. Then by 7 we were all in the disco so no other entertainment needed.
SO if you wanted to get a couple of cheap one just in case then i would but i wouldnt bother hiring them.
CommentAuthorMrsowen2b
nah im not hiring mine the jenga is only 17 quid online and it would be used again at my house parties everyone expects jenga to every party i attend so i thought it was a night touch to the day.
xx
