Have a friend who keeps telling me everything i do is wrong. Told her my OH knows the colour of the bridesmaids dresses and she says thats bad luck. I took my OH mum and sister with me when trying wedding dresses on as my mum was working and she isnt overly pleased im getting married and now she says thats bad luck as well. Probably sounds silly but now she has got me thinking and worried
Please help is it true all this is bad luck or is it just superstitions

I've never heard of any of these things being bad luck and I think my OH knows all the superstitions and follows them religiously sop he would have said! Dont worry, i dont believe in superstitions anyway!x

Saying that NO, I've not heard that these are bad luck before, the only one I've heard is that the groom shouldn't see YOUR dress and he shouldnt see you the night before! BUT like I said before if you don't believe them then don't worry about it, there are many girls on here staying the night together before the wedding a few have gone dress shopping with the groom because they trust his opinion and there are loads of girls who have choosen there bridesmaids dresses and colours together. As for the in laws going dress hunting with them why not?? I think its a lovely way to get your furture family involved and will mean a lot to them that you asked.........................IGNORE SAID FRIEND!!!!

Dont feel too sensitive about it hun, my friend took her h2b wedding dress shopping with her - for her his opinion matters more than anyone elses so she took him. I'm the opposite - I've been really weary of mentioning it when talking to h2b x

I haven't heard of those being bad luck either. Could she be a bit jealous of you? My h2b has seen the bride maids dresses, I can't imagine why knowing the colour of them would be bad luck, surely they will tie in with your colour scheme anyway?
My dress however will be kept a secret from my h2b and my dad, I would have no problem with my mil co,ming dress shopping with me, its nice that she wanted to come :-) mine is bare acknowledging the fact that we are we getting married! x

I would ignore her if I were you! H2b knows our colour scheme, he chose it and the flowers too. He's seen a picture of the dress I am after but not in the champagne colour. He's seen a picture of my shoes and some of the jewellery I've been looking at but he won't see the full ensemble until I get to the registry office. His opinion is important to me We are also spending the night before our wedding together as we wouldn't want it any other way xx

I don't have bm dresses yet but my h2b and I decided the colour scheme together and the bm dresses will be that colour so he knows. I think too many people have too many superstitions about weddings. I won't be putting a silver sixpence in my shoe and I certainly won't be paying for a random chimney sweep to attend my wedding, so does that mean my future marriage will fall apart? Not a hope, the only thing that would be bad luck is if you and h2b didn't love each other and you know that's not the case so please don't worry about it. x

I think she's just being jealous only thing about OH I've heard as bad luck is if he sees you in your dress before and if you spend night before together, but even that is just superstition.

My h2b and I are planning everything together, the only thing he wont see will be my wedding dress, but thats just my choice, hasnt got anything to do with superstition! I just think that it will be nice for him to see me in it for the first time on our wedding day.
And as for your friend, well she just seems very jealous to me! Everyone has different weddings so there is no right way. The right way is the way you want it to be! xxxx

my sister is doing this to me but im not paying her any attention, she does like my gothic scene wedding because she wants to be married and everything should be like it is in big fat gypsy weddings
your friend sounds like she is trying to put doubt in your mind, but as for you other half knowing colours and things, what does that matter, after all you've only to look at the show 'dont tell the bride' he plans completely everything and picks the brides dress.
follow any superstition you may believe in and dont worry about your friend, she just isnt liking the way your doing things differently from what she would do
each to their own. you do what you want and your OH wants, after all its your day not hers.

On the one hand I wouldn't worry about all of that, I'm not a big one for superstitions! On the other hand, I can see how this would get you down when you're wanting someone to be excited for you. I don't know, maybe she is jealous, in which case all you can do is carry on as you are, ignore her ridiculous remarks, and hope that she snaps out of it before long!
Do not worry, enjoy your wedding planning, it's fun and exciting deciding what to have on the day so don't let anybody's silly comments spoil it for you! x

I wouldnt worry to much.i havent heard of them either! you tell me how any groom wont know the colour of bm dresses as they are nearly always the colour sheme!
I dont really believe in these sort of things either to be honest. it just old wives tales. Enjoy planning your wedding and if she has annoyed you then i would just not tell her any more of your plans xx

nope, not heard of those! you do what you want and enjoy every minute :o) Adam has seen everything except my dress, he helped me choose bridesmaids dresses, decorations and has been vetting all the diy stuff I've made. He's even helped me pick out my hairstyle and flower colours :o) I wouldn't even mind him seeing my dress, but he insists he wants it to be a surprise, and he didn't want to see my shoes either - although that's probably just as well, I imagine he'd have made me buy new ones...they're bright pink! ha! xxx

My h2b hasn't a clue in wedding traditions and wanted to stop with me the night before. Isn't bothered if he sees me before the ceremony at the registry office. I do! Don't mind spending the night before with him, which we are not doing, but he's not seeing me in my dress before the wedding unless we bump into each other lol. He knows the colours and has seen my hair and shoes. I think your friend might just have the wrong end of the stick and is being a bit over dramatic lol :) x
