I love balloons and i always just assumed we'd have them, but h2b has said that he doesn't really like them. He doesn't mind if we have them, but he wouldn't choose them. I don't know whether to have any or not now. Is anyone having balloons, or is it not something people really do? lol i'm a bit clueless sometimes as i've never really been to a wedding. Also, what do people think about balloon arches? I think they look great, but again h2b has said he doesn't like them. What do you all think?

we aren't having them as i have a very bad allergy to latex. its a nightmare when i have to go to party's and wedding as i always have to take allergy tablets.

but i have been to wedding were balloons were used and they make great decorations.

I have 5 black and white damask balloons from the bay that I am using for the cake and sweetie table.

I wouldve possibly had them else where but the ceiling in our reception room insnt very high and balloons dont really look right in there.

The damask balloons look cracking tho!I'd say go for it if thats what you want, just try and get really nice balloons

I am having pearlised ones I think, 3 coming up from the centre of each table. I also have kids coming so after the meal they can play with them in the dead time between the end of the meal and the start of the evening party xxx

We didn't have them at our wedding - they wouldn't have fitted in with the venue and everything. We did have them at our evening reception back home though - but just a display of half a dozen in each corner of the dance floor. They looked good really, and at the end of the night we gave them to any children there and guests who had children but hadn't brought them.

We're not having balloons and im not really a fan of balloon arches personally i feel its very 80s but thats my opinon!!

If you want them go for it, but id worry about spending all that money then kids attacking it to try and get 1 free to play with, but then on the other hand its a fairly cheap way to decorate!!

Hmm, a bit of a mixed opinion. Well, there won't be many kids there as we're quite young so don't know many people with kids yet. I thought everyone had balloons pretty much, but it seems like a lot of you haven't. Has anyone done anything else to create height instead? xx

Personally i think balloons are very dated so im not a fan of them at weddings, but if you like them then go for it. If its height your looking for, have you thought of tall vases for your table centrepieces or depending on your theme, bunting is a nice retro alternative to balloons.

We're having them, I think they are fun but I don't like balloon arches. They are cheap and cheerful and I'm hoping the lady who is doing them for us can get the silver double heart weights I want. I have a balloon phobia where people blow them up then let them go whizzing round the room, I was scared when I went to visit the balloon lady when she blew them up but she didn't let them go thank goodness lol. I said "I'm glad you didn't just let them go then!!" lol

I'm having balloon clusters as my centre pieces. It's cheaper than other centrepieces and I can give them to the children at the end of the night and won't be stuck with anything I can't get rid of. Seen pics of my venue with the same aswell and looked fab. Everyones opinions will be different though. You have to do what you want x

I'm not a fan of balloons at a wedding, to me they are more birthday party but everyone is different and you should have what you and your h2b really like and want.

My h2b spotted bowls with floating candles and flower heads and decided he liked those for table centers so we'll probably go with those.

Maybe instead of the typical oval shaped balloon, you could get those ones that are in the shape of letters and get the first letter of your name and his name?

We are not having them..... we were always flowers from day one (you will see why on the wedding photies) and we said that we really didnt like them because we were worried that, like others said, they may make a wedding look like a childrens party (given how other people have had them at their weddings, wasnt nice).
HOWEVER, I went to as friends wedding a while ago and was dreading the balloons but because they did not go OTT and literallt had two on a table (one purple and one white) with confetti scattered it looked really nice and so I took back my hatred of balloons. Still not for us but if you do them right they can look great. Just dont go too mad haha! (says the girl who doesnt do things in moderation)

im not having balloons at my wedding, instead ive chosen martini vase centrepieces but it is everyones own personal taste.
i had balloons at my engagment party and they looked really nice but half an hour into the party all the balloons had been moved into the corner of the room by my two neices and then the room looked bare and ppl who were still arriving didnt get to see all the hard work that i had put in to the night.
the same neices are coming to the wedding and they are just one of the reasons why i aint havng ballooms again. lol

I was originally looking at hiring a lady who specialised in special balloon models to make a balloon bride and groom and then a canopy over the dancefloor but i have since gone off the idea. Now i just need to get her to stop pestering me!

We're having bunting, which i am making myself, along with the centrepieces of button stems, wooden roses and feathers in vintage style bottles. We may have a few balloon clusters scattered around on the sweet buffet/cake table but not too OTT.

    Hahaha. No typo, 48 tables!

Our reception is in a social club so instead of the large round tables we've got 48 sort of medium size. It's a lovely place and we've got chair covers and table linen so it should look just as nice. Just meant that ordinary centre pieces were pretty much out of the window! :0)
