I know, sounds bonkers doesn't it??!! Like a children's party!! lol lol

I was thinking of having a close-up magician for our drinks reception whilst we go off around the grounds of our venue to have photos taken and the room is set for dinner.

Is anyone else having one of these, or considered it?

I have asked a couple of magicians but they're wanting to charge nearly £200 which may not sound like a lot to some people but to us it's way too much

We're thinking of having one but only if some of the budget is spare. its not really one of our must-haves at the moment. We saw one at a wedding fayre and I love the idea, think it would keep people entertained whilst we're having photos taken. xx

I've done a fair few Weddings with them and they have always gone down a treat - 2 had them during the meal and it was distractive from a service point of veiw so I would have during photos only tbh or after meal before evening celebrations xxxx

i like the idea of having one but not sure on the cost it would be crazy to spend 300-800 on a magician.

We've just been to our nephews party today, he was £95 so thought might get him for the gap after the meal while they rearrange the room, kids will be well and truly bored by then LOL. Was going to get a box of things for them to play with/do and set up a kids corner but might be worth spending the extra, will see.

We met a magician at a wedding fair today. At first I walked away as I wasn't interested and thought it would be rubbish, but he was amazing, like Dynamo! Are they naff or good entertainment during the drinks reception? Honest answers please :o)

i saw a really good card magician in a club and thought he would be good as it is only adults going but in the end decided with a cariacturist for the lulls you mention. A good idea to have something in these gaps.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

We are having a magician perform during the breakfast. We have found a few who are willing to charge £150 for 1 and a half hours. I think that's quite a good price. x

We're having a magician from 8-10 on the evening. We've booked more of an illusionist than a magician. He does some awesome stuff and has been on TV and even done Bon Jovi's birthday party - I cannot wait to see him in action!!

We are having a LOT of entertainment throughout the day...

    A magician
A Smashie and Nicie impressionist doing 10 minutes with the DJ
    A DJ
    A dove release
Mr Midgley's mum and step dad are ballroom dancers and are doing a dance
A roulette table for when people get tired of dancing

LOL, can they not teach you? My mil and sfil are going to teach us how to dance. I am not holding much hope for my fiancé though. I don't think he inherited his mother's dancing gene!

We were going to hire a casino company but then we realised that it will be easy enough to do it all ourselves. We just need to hire a roulette wheel, we already have a blackjack and poker table with loads of chips. We will make personalised fake money for the guests to play with. We will ask the ushers to man the tables and we will give the overall winner a bottle of wine and some chocs. xxx

That is exactly what my fiancé had in mind. He has surprised me recently with so many ideas for the wedding. I never knew he had it in him! He even wants to personalise the chips! Have you decided on your wedding entertainment? xxx
