    Hi,

I am getting married this June in Garda, Italy. We have a wedding planner and have the ceremony and reception venue booked. It's just the little details like music and flowers etc to do. My wedding planner is quoting me extremely high for these services (about 4x what we would expect to pay here!), so I was wondering if anyone had any idea if these prices were normal or if you know of any suppliers we could try?

Any help at all would be appreciated as this next few months will fly in!

    Thanks,
    Laoiseach xo

I am getting married in Sorrento, Italy and we have booked through a travel agency. We have the venue and reception booked also but need to go through the extras - flowers, music, cars etc. We have been given a list of different options ranging from fairly reasonable up to very expensive!! I am not sure how it would work to go through individual suppiers, especially not being able to speak a word of Italian! lol. Could you make your own CD/playlist for the music?? Both our venue and reception have been OK with us doing this.
Not really too much help I know! Sorry!! x

I know someone who got married in Sorrento and they said that it was out of this world. We nearly went to Garda for our honey moon but booked Venice and Rome this time around. My h2b works for a company who are based near to Garda so I could ask him if any of his contacts could put you in touch with a local florist etc. Have you tried using google and ringing up the florists etc yourself? If you are with talk talk or know someone on talk talk then you can call Italy for free if they are on the same package that I'm on. Most Italians can speak basic English and you can always use a translator and pictures to communicate via email.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.

That is a help, both of you. I've been kind of frightened to try and speak to suppliers myself, guilty conscience going behind my wedding planners back, but I might have to do that before we commit to anything else. Is it normal to be asking for €550 for only my hair and make up on the day?? That's the kind of quotes I've been getting. I'm doing those ones myself now with the help of family and friends,

XjoX if you could get me any kind of contact I'd really really appreciate it. We haven't got a quote for flowers yet but I'm already dreading it and planning a wedding should be fun! xx

I will ask for you and see if he can pull anything out of the bag. Most of the people he knows are men but I'm sure some of them will have wives and girlfriends etc.

I think that they are asking a lot for your hair and make up. Have you said to her that you think them quotes are a little over your budget to see if she is just trying to get extra commission out of you? It may be that she can source something else once you say no way are you paying that when you could fly a make up artist out for that. Mine is £30 per person hair and make up and you can get flights for £80! You never know she may even do it for a free hol if you pay for flights and a hotel room for the night lol.

It is going to be hard not knowing what they are like without seeing them but I'm sure there will be some feedback sites like we have over here to help you make up your mind who to use. Google is great for translating them. Don't let the language put you off as there are ways around it.

You know, I never even thought of Google translate. I think it's a matter of spending time researching then, which I'm sure will be worth it. Thanks a lot for this! xx

Its pretty good and best of all free. Ok it doesn't do it perfectly but it will be enough for you both to understand each other and a picture is worth a 1000 words. I'm sure if you emailed them pics of your flowers and asked for a price they could understand what you want and also how much it will cost. You can also use google maps to make sure that the shop is near by to your venue etc. The powers of the internet are rather amazing and I have no idea what we used to do without them.

True, true. I have contacted several florists and musicians now and waiting on responses. Feeling better already! Thank you so much.

We're going to Rome and Sorrento for a travelling honeymoon. I've always wanted to see Rome and can't wait now!
