We're getting married in Portugal. Travel agents are a good place to start for ideas on venues, cost and legal issues etc. Watch out for the added extras they don't tell you about though that bump up the costs! I did alot of research online to find some nice wedding planners to help with all the legal stuff and got them to help me barter down certain costs. The bartering has certainly helped pay for the planners and save us money on other things. good luck x
Hi, were looking at getting married in May 2013 - thinking about getting married abroad but no idea where - were thinking of Italy. The only thing is though I want to be involved in the planning of the wedding and Im not sure, if your going through a travel agents, how much you can be involved in.....any ideas would be great! x

We're getting married in Spain, July 2012 :) although we are planning to have our legal ceremony here first, then have a blessing in Spain as the marriage laws in my h2b's village are quite complicated and I really don't fancy an hour long Catholic ceremony all in Spanish! Haha!
It might be an idea to get a list of quotes from travel agents, and independent planners - we're not involving either, I have my MIL on the Spain front to help with the planning and to liase with so I know that I'll be involved in the planning as much as I can - travel agents might have more information but independent planners are often more knowledgeable on the area they work and usually live in! Shop around, make sure you get a full list of what IS and ISN'T included so you know if there's anything you might be missing!

We have booked thru a travel agent. I have now been put in contact with the in resort wedding planner. She is calling this week so we can go through what we want for the wedding. Can't wait. x

We're getting married in France in May 2013 - I'm going over there on Friday to sort it all out then will be popping back probably with some bridesmaids throughout next year. You need to ensure the place where you get married has someone who speaks fluent English and that they respond to your e-mails quickly. xx
