I wanted to know if its still done where the bride wears the veil over their face? I really think it looks pretty and want to do it but Im not sure which hair style to have( pics of choices on my profile). I hope i can wear the veil above the hair style so that I can wear it over my face? x

i am having a veil but hadnt thought of putting it over my face. i like the idea tho as it is tradional and my weddin is fairly traditonal...as much as poss anyway.
have you already got your veil? i would say have it with you when you have your hair trial and see what it looks like. think i might do that aswell. i have my hair and make up trial on 28th Feb. xx
CommentAuthorekielty(now Trow)
I never thought of taking it to the hair trial. Ive ordered my veil but it hasnt arrived yet. The veil i wore in the shop when i bought my dress on monday was lovely and when i put it over my face, it looked really lovely. i think it may reduce my dad to tears though!haha! x

prob a proud moment when their little girl is getting married xx

There are a few reasons why I'm not wearing mine over my face. The first is that my tiara gets stuck at the veil at the best of times when its not even over my face so I can just imagine the h2b pulling it over and making a right pigs ear of it and also it messes up my hair when it is pulled back. I also want the h2b to be able to see my face as I walk down the aisle as I know he will get emotional seeing me and I want him to see mine.
CommentAuthorekielty(now Trow)
Aww thats a lovely reason Jo, i never thought of the veil getting stuck in the tiara. When i did it in the shop it didnt get stuck I will just have to mess about when it gets here! haha! x
Mrsbarkertobe - thats one thing im really looking forward to is having my dad be really proud of me.. :) x

It just depends on your tiara I guess but definitely practice it before the day. Is your dad going to lift it off for you? If so get him to practice before the day so it doesn't look awkward and he is used to doing it without pulling all your hair out etc.
CommentAuthorlovelylainee
It is still done - my friend did it and had her dad lift it up and kiss her on the cheek before handing her over
I am not doing that tho as I am having an up do with my veil pinned underneath it at the back xxx

I can't decide wether or not to have a veil and a tiara or one or the other xx
CommentAuthorekielty(now Trow)
I want my dad to lift the veil, I wasn't going to bother with a veil but when i put one on with the dress, it gave it that finishing touch if you know what i mean.

After what will be 13 years together i don't think a veil is any point - he's seen my ugly mug often enough and its good for him to get a big doze on the wedding day so he knows just what he's having for his married life. :P
The days are flying by, can't wait :)
CommentAuthorMadam Butterfly
I think I'm going for a veil but not over my face, don't really know why. I just think there are certian things you think of for your wedding and thats the only way you think of having them..if you get what I mean?!

I know what you mean as I feel like a bride when I have my veil on even though its no over my face. I think its sweet that your dad is going to lift it and 'give' you away.
CommentAuthorSuzie Bear

CommentAuthorYourFirstDanceBride
I might have it over my face to enter but I will have it off my face for the service onwards as I want to be able to see!
CommentAuthorboo
I like the idea of a veil but it would HAVE to come off at some point during the day (I'm funny about things in my hair) so that would mess my hair up and big fat no to anything over my face

I think its a nice thing to have it over your face, plus if your crying a bit no one will see :)
CommentAuthorFaeth
Not even sure if I'm having a veil, but if I did I wouldn't have it over my face - mostly because it's not my first wedding, and for me it makes me think of revealing this innocent "v*rginal" bride to her h2b, whereas I'm not a first timer and we've been living together for nearly 6 years now - lol
"Of course I'm not wedding obsessed!!"
CommentAuthorKaya
The bridal shop asked me this yesterday at my fitting, and my nan started having a go at me telling me I can't cos I'm not getting married in a church!! I'll do whatever I want to thanks!! GRRRRR

im wearing my mums veil for my wedding, its 30 years old so it feels really special, plus i can use it for my something borrowed. i dont think il have it covering my face though, i dont know why, i just dont really like things covering my face lol

I'm having one but probably won't have it over my face - I'll get claustrophobic!
CommentAuthorekielty(now Trow)
lmao at Kaya! you go girl! haha!
my veil arrived yesterday and i tried it on with my dress and its perfect. I put it over my face to see what it was like but it got caught on my tiara, my mum did it for me and it didnt catch - we are going to get my dad to practice it before the wedding! haha! x

Excellent news about it arriving :)
As for the original topic, I'm not sure about having it over my face. I remember as a kid using my Mum's net curtains as a veil and I guess that is the traditional way to do it but I quite like the idea of everyone seeing me. xxx
CommentAuthorx ashlil x
i cant decide either. what if i trip over cos i cant see properly lol. if you are already living together and have children can u still do this? x

I don't plan on having a veil, I want to be able to see where I'm going!

CommentAuthorekielty(now Trow)
You can still see through the veil with it over your face and it only sits lightly over you, it doesnt even touch your face!
I keep daydreaming about whether or not to have it over my face, i think i will though. :) x

I am having a veil, but its not designed to go over my face, it has lots of sparklys sewn onto it which wouldnt show if it were over my face! Plus i wouldnt want one of them to poke me in the eye, i will be trying hard enough not to cry as it is!!! lol

As for your hair ideas, they all look like you'd be able to wear a veil over your face.
