    Hey everyone,

I wanted to know if its still done where the bride wears the veil over their face? I really think it looks pretty and want to do it but Im not sure which hair style to have( pics of choices on my profile). I hope i can wear the veil above the hair style so that I can wear it over my face? x

i am having a veil but hadnt thought of putting it over my face. i like the idea tho as it is tradional and my weddin is fairly traditonal...as much as poss anyway.

have you already got your veil? i would say have it with you when you have your hair trial and see what it looks like. think i might do that aswell. i have my hair and make up trial on 28th Feb. xx

I never thought of taking it to the hair trial. Ive ordered my veil but it hasnt arrived yet. The veil i wore in the shop when i bought my dress on monday was lovely and when i put it over my face, it looked really lovely. i think it may reduce my dad to tears though!haha! x

There are a few reasons why I'm not wearing mine over my face. The first is that my tiara gets stuck at the veil at the best of times when its not even over my face so I can just imagine the h2b pulling it over and making a right pigs ear of it and also it messes up my hair when it is pulled back. I also want the h2b to be able to see my face as I walk down the aisle as I know he will get emotional seeing me and I want him to see mine.

Aww thats a lovely reason Jo, i never thought of the veil getting stuck in the tiara. When i did it in the shop it didnt get stuck I will just have to mess about when it gets here! haha! x

It just depends on your tiara I guess but definitely practice it before the day. Is your dad going to lift it off for you? If so get him to practice before the day so it doesn't look awkward and he is used to doing it without pulling all your hair out etc.

It is still done - my friend did it and had her dad lift it up and kiss her on the cheek before handing her over

I am not doing that tho as I am having an up do with my veil pinned underneath it at the back xxx

After what will be 13 years together i don't think a veil is any point - he's seen my ugly mug often enough and its good for him to get a big doze on the wedding day so he knows just what he's having for his married life. :P

I like the idea of a veil but it would HAVE to come off at some point during the day (I'm funny about things in my hair) so that would mess my hair up and big fat no to anything over my face

Not even sure if I'm having a veil, but if I did I wouldn't have it over my face - mostly because it's not my first wedding, and for me it makes me think of revealing this innocent "v*rginal" bride to her h2b, whereas I'm not a first timer and we've been living together for nearly 6 years now - lol

Excellent news about it arriving :)

As for the original topic, I'm not sure about having it over my face. I remember as a kid using my Mum's net curtains as a veil and I guess that is the traditional way to do it but I quite like the idea of everyone seeing me. xxx

You can still see through the veil with it over your face and it only sits lightly over you, it doesnt even touch your face!

I keep daydreaming about whether or not to have it over my face, i think i will though. :) x
