    Hi everyone,

I've been reading quite a few discussions on here and I'm surprised at how many of them are about dieting and losing weight to fit into THE dress or bridesmaids promising to slim down and then failing. I'm all for being healthy and all that jazz, but I just wondered, is anyone perfectly happy with their size and not planning on losing weight for their day?

I want to make it clear that I am in no way judging people who decide that slimming is right for them and find the moral support of the forum helpful for this, I'm just genuinely curious.

I would like to slim down but in all honesty I can't see it happening too much and it doesn't really bother me. I tried on sooo many dresses until I found one that I love and am comfortable in and is 'me' and have ordered it in the size I am now. If I loose a bit bonus but if not that's fine :)

I think its what you are comfortable with and the image you have of yourself..... at the moment i am a 14 but this is the heaviest i have ever been. Now there is nothing wrong with people being a size 14 but i dont want to be so i am slimming down to a comfortable size 12 because that is the size and weight that is healthy for me and what i like being. My H2B says he will love me however i look but i want to be happy on my wedding day and honeymoon. I am not trying on dresses until i am a size 12 either.

Im lossing weight for my health to be better not for a smaller dress size although it is going to be a bonus, Im being measured in Aug
so my dress can be ordered in the size i am at that time, my dress can go up to a size 32 or as small as a 8, so what ever size i am I'll be cover, Im currently a size 20 UK and i already feel so much healthier, i used to be a size 28/26, i think its personal thing, a size 10 might look in the mirror and not like bits same as a size 16 might love what they see in the mirror, its how you feel comfortable i guess, on your wedding day you want to feel 100% x

everyone has hang ups about their bodies no matter what size they are i think.... my bridesmaid is a tiny size 8 but so healthy and does the gym every day and she still looks in the mirror and finds fault... i laugh and say dont be stupid you look stunning but you dont always see it so i agree it doesnt matter what size you are but how you feel about yourself xx

I'm happy with my size and won't be losing any weight for the big day. A few years back I was far too skinny, very underweight. I didn't have an eating disorder or anything but many people thought I did, and looking back at the photos it was kind of understandable, I really didn't look well. Since then I've put on over 2 stone and am now a healthy size 10-12, so I want to stay exactly as I am x

I have ordered my dress in my current size. When I chose my dress I felt that even if I had to wear it tomorrow I would be happy with the way I looked in it.
I have another 14 months to go and yes I would like to loose a bit of weight but if I don't I'm not too fussed. At the end of the day my H2B is marrying me for who I am and if he is happy then I am happy.

I ordered my dress in the size that I was/am and did not diet at all before the day. I purposely did not lose any weight as I always planned to have my dress dyed so that I could wear it again and did not want to be dieting every time I wanted to wear it.

I haven't ordered my dress yet. or even tried any on. I had a baby six months ago and am still carrying lots of extra baby weight. I have however gone back to slimming world and it's coming off pretty quick. We don't plan on getting married until September next year, so I am going to look and try on this September!!! Argh!

I agree though, it's all about how you feel. For me it's not just the extra weight, my body shape has completely changed and i need to get used to it!!!! Xxx

I'm a size 14-16 and after years of being told Im fat and I need to loose weight (ex husband, I was a size 10 when we met 16 years and 3 kids ago) I have a man who loves me for ME and that includes my size as it is!
My way of looking at it is if I loose weight fan blood y tastic!! But Im not dietin g or anythin g to make that happen, although at my last check up I was told I have lost weight :-)
If not well my h2b still loves me and thats all that matters!

I say if you want to loose weight then by all means do so but dont do it to fit into a dress, do it for you and your furture which doesnt JUST include that one day!!!

I bought in my actual size for my bust, as it turned out for that designer my proportions were between sizes between hips and bust - so I had to lose some off my waist in order to get into my correct dress size :-)

When I got measured for my dress about November time, I then thought I really cannot afford to put any weight on, I did over Xmas and have not really been able to shift it so hoping it still fits, just upping my running and keep fit in the hope that just by doing that will tone things.

I dont want to lose weight as much as tone up my tummy, but that is for me, not for the wedding. In my eyes, I should look like me on my wedding day and not like someone I have tried to be. So I wont be losing weight, I wont be tanning, I wont be wearing hair extensions, and I wont be wearing false eyelashes, that wouldn't be me! I want to be able to look back on my wedding photos and see myself as I am now, and with all that stuff, I wouldn't be able to do that xxx

I bought a size 14 dress as it was a sale dress and they are then going to take it in for me but had I bought one that wasn't in the sale I would have bought the size I am now as I haven't changed in about 4 years and don't intend to! X

to be honest i started sw before i got engaged so its not really for the wedding my target was set months before the ring was bought and if i decide to stop now i would be happy to buy a 14/16 dress which is the size i am now and i will be carrying on going to SW after the wedding. although i would love to have a beautiful wedding dress that i know i will look good in but for me the weight loss was to make me healthier. i was starting to feel really unhealthily and was getting lots of headaches and stomach upsets i already had to have my gall bladder removed 4 years go i have no intention of stopping sw after the wedding and for me personally its more about an healthier life style and i don't see the losing weight as dieting i see it as a side effect of eating better and having more exercise. xx

I'm glad people are happy with their bodies as well as making the changes for the right reason. No one should feel that they have to change for their wedding. I'm alarmed at how many diet adverts are on wedding tv too!

As if we aren't under enough pressure planning our weddings, no tv is telling us that we need to diet too :/

Same as Anastasia for me, though I've bought my dress at my current size, there's room for me to slim down. I'm not looking to lose stones though, 10lbs at an absolute max. If I don't manage it though I have a dress that fits so all is well!

My weight is always pretty steady so I got a sample dress that fits me nicely (apart from length). I'm currently a couple of pounds over my 'normal' weight, and as its cos I haven't been exercising its more change of shape than weight change anyway. Hoping to get back to what is normal for me, but doubt the change will really be noticable to anyone else!

I'm a size 16-18 and was when I ordered my dress. I didn't try to lose any weight before the wedding, even though I had 16 months to do so. My husband loves me for me so didn't have any need to lose any.

When I had my dress fitting just before the wedding the dress had to be taken in a little but I wouldn't even say a full dress size.

I am going to buy my dress as it fits perfectly now (I only have 4 months left and to think if I have to stress myself over yet another thing... (weather isn't letting me have choice - need to eat in the rain and not run!) I do think I want to tone up and will do exercises but if not.... hey ho - happy yes - could be happier yes but not worth the stress! You lose weight from stress anyway!! :) :)

I have put on over a stone in a year I use to be an 8 but now im 10-12 I am not trying wedding dresses on untill im back to 8stone, I agree with the others i think its not about the size you are or what other people say i think its about the weight/size you feel comfortable with. At the end of the day you want to look back at the wedding photo's in 10, 20, 30 or 40 years and be happy not cringe.
