    hi

we have nearly booked both of our venues but are having an extremy heated debate as to put a coach on or not. i have just googled the distance between the church and the venue and its 9 mins away. i have said to h2b we will put one on if thats what he really wants but will sort it last as its not a priority. also our venue has said that people can leave there cars and get a taxi home and colect cars the next day.

his arguemnet is a few of his realtives are old and will need a caoch where i replied back well hop do you propose they get to the church in the first place.

You could wait and see how far the budget goes, maybe even ask people if they would contribute or see what their opinions are.

I got a quote for £800 from wigan to sumerset, a 4 hour car journey, each way that was a 54 seater coach and returning the next day.... i also had some quotes for £1800 so ring round you can be surprised at the difference in price, also what about buses, like the school buses there is a companie near me that hires buses..... also what if you said to ppl we can get a coach but its £3 each or something, any more and ppl will get taxis..... Most ppl tho wont expect transport for them.... also minibuses maybe better if there are less numbers!

I would find out who drives and who doesn't and work out if there are people who will have spare places in their cars to take people over from the church to the venue. When my friend got married she asked me to pick up her nan and take her to and fro. It wasn't a problem as we were all going to the same place. I agree its a big chunk of money that you may not need. I would find out who actually needs it first. Even if there was a bus if I arrived at the church in a car I would want to take it over to the venue ready for going home.

We put on a coach for our wedding. Lots of my family were staying in a hotel and I knew most would drink. We paid £200 for our coach, it took all the family from the hotel to church, then from there with extras on to our venue. It was up to them to get back to hotel. It kept everyone together too :-) xx

Ok 9 mins is nothing - we had to travel an hour by car to my cousins from the church and those who didnt drive got lifts. 9 mins is a short taxi journey tbh. We're poss having ours 15 - 20 miles away so a bus from the church to the venue and then back to the centre of town for us is a sensible option

thankyou ladies you are giving me more ideas to throw at him for NOT to get one. a waste of money for a 9 min taxi service and am sure its not going to break their bank accounts x x

If you are thinking about it, then just put something out with your invites to get an idea of numbers for people that would actually use it. Coaches can be booked at quite last minute, and just tell people it will be a first come first served basis if there are more people than seats on the coach :-)

All weddings i've been to where they ceremony was in a different place to the reception have had coaches put on - if that helps xx

We are in a similar situation distance wise. We will get a bus if budget allows it but may just ask people to drive and park in local car parks - they'll only need 2 hour ticket and that is only £3 - not too much. If we can afford it we will get a coach but they aren't cheap! xx

I'm thinking of a walking bus as my church is only 10 mins from my house. There is little to no parking at the church so the odd car that will be there for grandparents and me will take up all parking opportunities. I am thinking of asking people to park near my home and walk together up to the church, if it rains then my brother can organise the drivers to do multi trips dropping people off.

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do
