Me and martyn where talking last night and said we would have a 2.5k wedding and a 1k honeymoon. We don't want a big wedding but I think deep down we both want the wedding breakfast and big reception. The thing is everything in Reading is so expencive and we can't afford it. Do we not have the honeymoon and have a wedding breakfast or not. The 2.5k has to get everything. Dresses suits ceremony reception etc etc. We want the wedding perfect for us but we also want to go away. We said we could ask my parents but I don't want to as it is our wedding we should pay for it. If they want to give us something for the wedding as a present then fine but I don't want to ask them for money.
I am so worried we are going to have a sh+t wedding because of this and it is really worring me.

Of course it can be done. Theres loads of money saving ideas.

    - Reception- look at function rooms, village halls etc. Put on a hog roast or BBQ, or a DIY buffet.
    - Suits- wear you own rather than hiring
    - Dress- loads of ways to get those cheap
    - Ceremony- Registry office is usually cheapness
    - Rings- online
    - Details- DIY.

Yeah I am back on here sonia. Not on FB as my mum has changed my password and can't remember it. I am on here coz of my phone.
I don't really want to ask my parents. But if they say it is a wedding gift then that's ok. We are looking at local football club but it is down a dirt track and is always muddy and looks like a small hut. I think that will be it if I can afford anywhere else though.

What about asking for money towards a honeymoon, as wedding gift from your guests, instead of a gift list? x

Helen we are thinking of doing that as we have been living together for 3 years so we have everything. So we might be able to go go to 3K for the wedding then we can put 500pounds towards the honeymoon. So stressed about it. I know I can get everything we need from ebay and buy off the rail dresses and suits but the reception is going to cost so much. The ceremony will be at the least 300 pounds as it is.

A wedding my brother went to- vicars daughter, so they had a lot of people they had to invite, but a small budget. Managed to do the wedding breakfast for a fiver a head- that was 2 courses (friends of the family cooked it). A wedding I went to had a fry up for the wedding breakfast- think that was about £12 a head for 3 courses.

I am buying most stuff from ebay. I like the idea of getting people to cook the dinner for you. That way we can use the kitchen of the club. Just need a nice venue but they are all so expencive.
Also the wedding will be conpaired to h2bs older brothers wedding. I showed his mum the dress I am I love with and she said there is not much point having that if you are only having a small wedding. Its not like david and hayleys BIG wedding. I don't care if it is not like there's they spent so much money on it and now they are in trouble with the bank.
Just want a nice wedding is that to much to ask.

Look around there is loads of bargins to grab..... My venue do a wedding package that costs £999 for everything, the price is low because it is for weekdays. If we couldn't have the venue on the saturday that we have decided then we would have gone for the weekday package.... When shopping around always ask what discounts they offer, you may think it is being rude but most of them will give you a discount depending on what you want. As my h2b says if you don't ask you don't get.... I will say speak to bith parents they may surprise you and say, "we want to put something to towards, but didn't want you to think........" On the other hand a 2.5k wedding is possible, my sister done hers on 2k and it was fab! Good luck hun xxxx
