    Hi All

Im looking at how to involve our son who will be 5 years 11 months when we get married, Ultimately the day is about me and H2b but we want him to feel its about him too.

so Far we have decided on the following:

He is getting his kilt made to match his dad's (H2b, DS was so excited when we went into kilt shop to order his and the other kilts)

We are getting him a ring cushion so he can carry the rings (Fake silver ones Bestman will have the real ones)

We are going to take him to the cake tasting and he can choose a tier for the cake (Prob victoria or Lemon sponge which is what
    we are thinking of anyway)

We are going to give him his thank you gift at the time of speeches rather than in the morning when everyone else will get theirs

I am going to put together a photo eyespy for him to take pictures on the day.

Depending on how he is feeling he will more than likely be in most of our photos.

Is there any other ways we can include him in the day to make it as special for him as it is us.

One of my friends thinks we are crazy for including him in our day but the way we see it he is our life we are lucky to have him and it feels natural to include him

Could he also walk you down the aisle? My youngest son was desperate to, so it was him and my step dad.

He wants to walk down by himself before everyone else sohe can stand with his daddy, we asked him what he wanted to do and I know my dad wouldn't mind sharing the limelight with him lol. We will see how he feels on the day though as we want him to be as comfortable as possible

Are you getting married in a Church, speak to the vicar-we've been told some of the vicars who we might have (our Church doesn't have a permanent one yet) like to do the actual marriage and then get the children to come up with you and do a blessing as a family.

Aww donna thats lovely, No we are getting married by a registrar but might ask her opinion on how to include connor inon it, Im not sure he would be able to say a short poem (As much as id love it, id cry and he has immature speech so most people probwouldnt understand what he was saying)

I'm sure they could do something similar... obviously not a blessing, but they could do a little thing about you joining as a family

We made sure that all our children were included some what in the day. We had two sets of children joining together as brothers and sisters so they were part of the whole day as well. It was just as much them joining together as us. They each had roles, the older two boys not so much as the others but still included. The younger ones all had roles to play, I got hubby to ask his son to be best man alongside BIL as he had no role. Then on our first dance, the first part was a slow one, mixed into a fast one when the kids all had to join us dancing. And they all sat on the top table with us, we never had a traditional one.

I have no suggestions im finding it so hard bt mine will be 3 and my daughter 20mnths so nt a huge lot they can do

Id be annoyed if anyone told me i was crazy for involving my own kids. They r your kids as u say your life!

my mam said "i hope tyler is ok in church i domt want to b runnun around calmin him dwn i want to enjoy your wedding" (churchs so far have always spooked him a bit) but my instant reply to that was hes my son its our wedding he can do what he wants if hes hangin round my neck then so be it hes our son same for our daughter. Whatever they want!

Our day is about all of us and id be more upset if they werent in every photo lol.. bt we rnt having a huge lot of posed so be a bit easier to have em in every main photo. They r my kids

I got little touches to put them as part of wedding like t&s1213 on our cake (their initials and years of birth) and a family photp of us on bk of our invites

As i say nt a huge lot we can do as in jobs for them etc

Your son will feel part of your day no matter what he does hes your son :-)

Exactly elizabeth hes your son and if it saves a melt down then let him get on with it lol (bt he is older than mine so its easier to occupy them once older i think as they understand more)

Dif views on weddings maybe but has no grasp on what family means or what yours means to u!

I admit im nt a fan of many kids at weddings and if we had none of our own we would be strictly no kids. Bt as we do my neice will be flowergirl along side my daughter. And weve said to best man and other bridesmaid that they are able to bring theirs along and any1 travelling further than an hour can bring theirs but That means at max there will be 5between the ages 1 and 3. Maybe a 5 and 6 yr old And a baby lol

Ignore your "friend" and let your son enjoy his moment too :-) xx
