Hi everyone, hope I've found the right place to post!

Our daughter will be 2.5 years old at our wedding. She is a very securely attached 1 year old right now, it's hard to predict how she will be on the day but I expect she will not be the kind of child that will decide at the reception that she is tired and go off to sleep on her own in a buggy/travel cot! She may even still be breastfeeding then as she is still now and I want to reach the 2 year mark with her.

I don't want to have to buy a dress that I will be able to breastfeed easily in, and I don't want to have to leave my own reception to take her home to bed. The venue we have chosen has a children's play room with a tv, xbox and bean bags which is visable from the dance floor through a giant glass wall and lots of childrenw ill be there so I think she will be kept busy playing for most of the evening, but when she (and the other children) get tired I'm unsure what we are going to do then?

Has anyone had a wedding with a toddler in tow that can share some happy stories or tips from their day with me to make me feel a little less worried??

    Many thanks!

    xxx

With regards breast milk, could you not express some so that if you're busy someone else could feed her?. Take a buggy along. When i took my little lad, he was dancing away on the dancefloor then all of a sudden zonked out. He slept right through everyone else dancing. It's fab that your venue has a childrens room! :) x

think claires got the right idea hun, consider that fact that all your friends and family are there as well. Im sure someone will take her out for a walk in her pushchair or maybe you could steal a quiet half hr with ur new husband for a little stroll to get her off? better still, nominate someone now to take her home on the night and get her used to him/her putting her to bed asap so u can feed her at the doo and them take her off? I wouldnt worry, uv got lots of time and loads of different options xx

when i got married the first time both my daughter was 2 we took her pushchair and she fell asleep during the meal so we popped her in the pushchair for a nap. on the night when she finally gave in (about 11pm) she went back in the pushchair and then she went home with my parents who kindly had her stay for a week so we could go away

Well my children will be three and one. I'm going to take a pushchair for the little one and put some chairs together for my son. If he gets too tired my MIL (party pooper) will no doubt go to bed (staying at hotel) early anyway so she will probably go up when Alex is tired. And my parents will have evie. As for feeding, either try and get her off the breast and on to bottle in the mean time. Or start expressing now so she gets used to having it from a bottle. Also get her used to other people feeding her. Then hopefully you'll be ok on the night x

My daughter was 2 first time round. She was fantastic all day and she kept going and going and going. It was already arranged that she was staying with MIL that night. But they didnt have to leave till she finally dropped at about 10.30. We did have to tie a balloon on the back of her dress though because she was shorter than the tables we kept loosing sight of her amongst the tables

    Going to become Mrs Stockman
Got engaged on 26th April 2011

Thanks everyone, lovely to hear your stories with your little ones! Weaning from the breast is not an option, similarly bottles are't an option either but she drinks perfectly from a sippy cup, but only water, if I give her milk from a cup she really turns her nose up at it! I expect she will be fine just filling up on food though on the day as she'll be 2.5 years old, she's happy to go without milk for a long time now as long as there's plenty of food about. Its more the sleeping I'm worried about, I hope someone will walk her about in the buggy for me, or me and my OH could go for a little stroll with her in her buggy, the area around the venue is amazing, would be nice for us to have a little walk as a family I think! xx

my middle girl turned 2 on the 7th sept and she honestly shows no interest to the boob at all and hasn't done since she descided she didn't want it at 14mth, so maybe your daughter will be the same?? my youngest will be 16mth at our wedding and she could still be feeding (i'll leave that to her) but i wouldn't have her using a bottle at that age for expressed milk. maybe a sippy cup.

i have been to a few parties/weddings/events with my girls as babies/toddlers and i'm amazed at how they sleep through loud music!! just let her run around and have fun dancing etc and she'll tire herself out enough to sleep in the buggy :)
