We're getting married in August - but posting out the invites in February, with RSVP for early May. That gives us time to finalise menus etc with the venue when we visit in May. Because we're travelling to Gretna for the wedding we sent out the save the date magnets earlier this year - so that it gave people plenty of time to book hotels etc

I would say it isn't worth save the dates for 5 months so would just send the invites a little bit earlier with the Christmas cards. I'm pretty sure most people who are coming to the wedding will already know when the date is so if need to arrange travel etc will have talked to you about it anyway.

I agree, do it at xmas. If not, I'd suggest January since people need to book rooms etc

We were going to send ours out with the christmas cards but we bought the wedding forward so are doing it now, i think people need about 3 months notice to book time off work and stuff.

I would go for about 3-4 months ahead of time so about december/january would be good, gives your guests time to book rooms etc. Especially as there is a bank holiday due that weekend so they should be able to get in :o).

Oh and hello and welcome hun.

I'm sending the save the dates out at Christmas, because it could be difficult for some people to attend. Then, I think I'll send the actual invites around July time for our October wedding.

I am too, but it's a Sunday date and everyone seems surprised by this. If I send out the invites early, people will forget about them so it seems like the most efficient route to getting people there on the right day. I'll just take it off the budget for my clothes.

i am not getting married for another 6 months, but mine are going out now as we are restricted to the number who can come to the ceremony, so if anyone drops out we can replace them with people from the night do, and people are already saying we cant come because we are on holiday that week :) x
