Okay, so were looking at getting married in Yorkshire, we live in Lincolnshire, so quite a drive away. My problem is, that in order to have Music at our Wedding, we need to hire the whole Venue for the weekend, which costs between £15000 and £27000, we can hire for one night, but with check in at 3pm, means a late Wedding, as we will all need to get ready, and cant expect guests to travel without freshening up. Has anybody else had or having this problem?sx

Can you not stay the night before? Our venue is an hour away but rather than have all the fuss of rushing on the morning we have opted to stay the evening before with our bridal party.

We did look into that, but the rooms are £200 a night, and we cant really expect our guests to pay too much to help us celebrate. Been looking at Swinton Park and Hazlewood castle. It is strange, which has made picking a venue harder, licolnshire hasnt got much to offer, so opted for somewhere close by sx

wow this seems a little strange.

Usually venues are quite flexible with wedding days etc, and not allowing you to check in till 3 is a bit late really.
and the cost is AMAZINGLY high! what venue is it!?

Oh thats a shame, can you not negotiate the price? Maybe if you told them the problems your having they might be able to accomodate you? I have to agree, its a very expensive price for such a limited service, 3pm is quite ridiculous and impractical for a wedding. Maybe have another chat with them and see if they can be a bit more flexible. I presume you havent booked yet? If not then maybe a different venue would be the best idea?

We had a similar problem in that originally we only wanted from 3pm - Midnight saturday for our reception but to allow suppliers time to deliver and us to be able to use the apartment for freshening up etc, we had to book the apartment for the night and we could only book the apartment if we booked exclusivity. Which for sat 10am - sun 10am its £1900. Now family want to stay the night before so we have had to book exclusivity from fri -Sun now £2200 xxx

Just for the rooms and hire of the venue, excluding the actually wedding. I asked them about check in times previously and they said 3pm was all they could do. Im guessing a venue change is needed a maybe closer to home :( x

It is an amazing venue, but they are asking a lot of money and not being very flexible.

I would be very unhappy with that.

But its whether you think that this is deffinetly the venue for you and worth not only the money but having to change your plans for the day.

If you are not 100% happy with what your venue is offering keep your options open a little while longer and carry on looking at other venues. We made a huge mistake by picking our first venue, as it was affordable, tho there were so many little niggling problems. We'd paid a deposit and 2 weeks after I then found our dream venue! Luckily our first venue let us have meais/stays for our deposit money, instead of losing it. However I would reccommend you are 100% sure before paying your deposit hun as with most places they are non refundable. xxx
