Ok, this is nothing but a rant and I don't expect anyone to reply. I just need to get it out because I have no other way of doing it, thats probably whats making me feel worse, that I don't have anyone I can speak to about it, apart from the h2b but he worries to much and he gets upset himself.. Anyway, I don't think I've ever felt so depressed in my life. Apart from the wedding, I have nothing! I'm stuck in day in day out with know one to see and nothing to do, I wish I could get a job but I'm worried I'm going to end up being ill all the time and not be able to go. I've got extreme PCOS, some mornings my hormones are so crazy I spend a couple hours in the toilet being sick, or I wake up in pain and just don't want to move and then there's the insulin resistant side of it, I get dizzy, headaches so bad that I can't even see properly! Its probably excuses though, maybe I don't want to work because of the depression and my anxiety. I feel like I'm going round in circles. It was obvious today I needed someone to speak to today but my mum was too busy going out with my sister pram shopping and thats another problem, my little sister is about to have a baby when I've been trying for two years and every month being told its not going to happen Im infertile. I feel like a waste of space and know one is interested. I haven't even spoke to my venue recently as I even worry about picking up a phone and speaking to someone. Its getting real bad and I don't know what to do anymore :-(

first thing i am going to say is relax!! my sis has pcos and she has been told that although she has a very severe case of it and it is unlickly she will conceive naturally it can happen!!

stop having s*x to try and you never know what might happen. just enjoy doing it!!

if you are stuck indoord why not go for a brisk walk for half an hour a day. that will help you feel better!

if you cant manage a full time job why dont you try a part time job? that will ease you back into it slowly! maybe a dinner lady or something like that which is just an hour or so a day?

    xx

Small steps. One at a time. Instead of stressing about a full or even part time job how about doing a few hours volunteering, perhaps in a local charity shop, they can be really flexible and a great way of getting back into things. My youngest daughter does it and loves it, and now my oldest daughter is signing up to do a few hours too, good experience and no pressure. And how about some relaxation, lying on the bed, gentle music, deep breathing, just relaxing - perhaps a local yoga or tai-chi class to help you get out and about and meet new people with no stress involved. Just a thought x

i cant imagine how hard it is for you having pcos..but on the depression/anxiety side of things I know how you feel about two years ago I was very very poorly, I was on the point of a nervous breakdown I could hardly leave the house. I literally only left to go to the corner shop by my house...(which is literally two doors away from me) to buy food and nappies etc for my little girl. If I was in a big crowd I'd freak out start having panic attacks and just really felt like the whole world was out to get me/judging me..it was awful and that feeling of being stuck like that can sometimes can be just as bad if not worse. To try get myself out of it I decided to enrol on a college course studying to be a hairdresser..at first it was very hard. I hardly spoke to anybody and felt genuinely intimidated by all the 16 something year olds on the course..but after a few months it had really made a huge difference, I was like a totally different person. dont get me wrong you will still have 'bad' days but they feel more managable now..it may be worth chatting to your gp about your symptoms and they may be able to offer you something to help.it isnt just medicine they prescribed now, they can put you in touch with support groups, councilling etc all sorts..depression is not something to be ashamed off thousands of people go through it without reaching out to anybody for help and it can just spiral out of control..the worst thing I found about it was the feeling of lonliness..I had never felt so alone in my life, even though i had family friends etc around me I felt totally isolated, I know it may seem scary but I found the best thing for me to do was to make myself start mixing with people. now im training to teach hairdressing, I give lectures/lessons and assist with instructing in a salon, I even sing in a band..all things which if somebody had told me I would be doing 3 years ago I would have laughed at them..but I do think you need to sit your mum down and explain how your feeling, your her daughter too and if anything she'll be upset you hadnt confided in her sooner and will want to help you..you will be ok..it may not seem like it but you will get there, like all the girls above said it will take time but you will get there xx

have you tried metformin??? I have PCOS and it took me ages to finally get my Dr to give it to me. I had researched it years ago when it was legal in the US but not in the UK unless you actually had diabetes.

anyway, its hard going to get started on it. You start on 1 a day, and it gave me headaches and the runs a few hours after taking it, and made me quite tired. So 2 hours after taking it i would pop a nurofen, pro plus and an immdoium! then after 2 weeks, you go up to 2 a day. And the headaches and runs start again. But after that you are fine.

It really really helps. Its regulates your insulin levels, and some people even lose a lot of weight on it.

Also some brands of the tablet were better on my stomach than others. So its worth having a bit of a play, get your prescription at a different pharmacy if the first batch you got make you very ill. They usually stock different brands.

its worth it in the long run. Good luck hun! x

Thanks everyone, don't really know what else to say. If I could go out and get a job I would but I find it hard just leaving my house on my own. It's not easy for me at the moment and as much as I tell myself to snap out of it the harder it gets as I'm putting pressure on my self. But thank you x

megs, I will speak to my mum when I get a chance but first step is to talk to h2b I think, he knows I feel down but not this bad and he really should know otherwise I think it's going to start putting pressure I the relationship and that's the last thing I want, he's my rock. I will go to the GP when I can get someone to come with me, I think I need a little help whether it be anti-depressents or just support group, I don't think I can do it on my own any more. But a huge well done to you, sound's like you've really turned it around and that's brilliant, I hope I can too. xxx

And Linzi, I've been taking metformin for 2 years and it's not done any thing for me, not even helped me loose weight and not even helped with being insulin resistent as I've become borderline diabetic since I've been taking it. I've had 3 different forms, slow release, lower dose and the 500mg and nothings worked.
I was having monthly scans up untill about 6 months ago and not once did my overies have eggs in and i haven't had a period in 2 years, so I'm not ovulating but thank you for your positivity mrsbarkertobe, was very kind of you but I don't think it will happen, think it's a loosing battle now.

    Sorry for my rant x

thats a shame about the metformin. I take it you have also tried Clomid??

I was on the pill for years, and I managed a period every month. I came off the pill nearly a year ago now, and I have still been having almost regular periods. I am on a 34 day cycle though, instead of a 21 day! and every month it gets later and later, but I am still having them so fingers crossed i stay that way!

before the pill I would have a period every 3 months or so, and when I did get one it would be very heavy and last for 3 weeks.

I hate PCOS. When I got diagnosed I was 18 (I figured it out myself and presented the doctor with a magazine article on it and suggested that this was what was wrong, instead of thyroid problems or anemic like they always thought), and was told that I would probably be blind because of diabetes by the time I was 50, have osteoporosis, male pattern baldness, a beard and probably no children! i cried and ran home to my Mum who went MENTAL and ran back up to the doctors to give them a peice of her mind! lol.

Go have a look at Verity-PCOS forum. Its VERY good and loads of advice and woman in the same boat as us. x

you'll get there lady, and if your h2b is as awesome as he sounds then he will totally understand and be there for you. It is a big thing the first time you really admit that you need help, but by the sounds of it he'll give you lots of support and more..maybe if he could go to the docs with you?that way whichever treatment route you go down he will have a better understanding of how it will effect you etc and how to be there for you if he hears it from the doctor? really hope things start to look up for you though...xx

Linzi I was using Verity for a long time and met some lovely people but eventually found it useless. I've been going through this a very long time so been there done that got the t-shirt, unfortunately!
I haven't tried clomid yet, my GP won't send me to an infertility clinic as I'm over weight and your GP can't prescribe it, it has to be done through a clinic. So untill I've got my BMI down by about 14 there won't even look at me.
I have every symptom you can imagine with PCOS, it's not nice.

Becky, I've tried it. I'm no helper I suppose lol. And I would volunteer, if I didn't have panic attacks everytime I leave the house on my own

Kaya, I've been to many different GPs and hospital specialists, PCOS and diabetes clinic.. they have all said the same, clomid can only be prescribed through a clinic as you need monthly scans, weekly monitoring etc, unless your doctors surgery has a clinic in the surgery then clomid can't be prescribed through them

yep change your doctors!! phone first and ask if they have a Dr that specialises or has an interest in PCOS. When i moved i changed my Dr, and was shocked to find one of the doctors holds a PCOS clinic!! just speaking to a Dr that actually understands PCOS and researches it was a breath of fresh air. My old Dr's didnt even really know what it was when I first got diagnosed 15 years ago.

worth a try. And if your BMI is that high, have they given you anything to help you lose weight? cause as we know it is particularly difficult to do with PCOS.

DONT GIVE UP. Get determined. Tell your DR what you want. And make sure you get it.

its something we cant change, so i try not to let it stress me. But then i am not trying to conveive yet. That will come later this year........ so my outlook might well change then. But at the moment I am clinging to the hope, and the real possibility that I will be one of the lucky ones and not have too much trouble.

I'm 34 soon so dont have that much time..........

I miscarried and have since been told it's likely to be because of the pcos, so I'm dreading when we start trying for a baby again!!

I'm taking agnus castus atm as well, after a recommendation from you I believe!!

Linzi, you have every chance if your still having periods so good luck :-) could be pregnant for christmas! hehe

I can't remember the last time I had a period, I've taken so many drugs to make me have one but they are known as "fake" periods and you won't ovulate. I spent so much money on ovulation monitors and never ever got a positive, its heart breaking so I've given it all up and just hope one day it'll happen

Yes Kaya, I mentioned it on a thread a little while ago, how are finding it?

I fell pregnant over 2 years ago now and lost the baby and I was told it was because of my PCOS, my womb wasn't healthy enough for it. Agnus castus will help with that though! Well, hopefully :-)

I love herbal stuff, whether it actually works or not is a different matter so I might try St Johns wart and see how I go, just the name of it makes me laugh!
