I`m in need of advice as to whither it`s cheaper getting married at home in Scotland or getting married abroad? x

All depends on places,
Im getting married in scotland and it is on a tight budget. Parents are helping with bits and getting my uncle to do the catering.
Iv got lots of things of bay of e and from charity shops which are cutting costs big time lol!! Where in scotland you from?

I`d love to have our families there, around 17 adults and 6 children. We were thinking Italy but it`s all so confusing as well! x

I'd also be interested in this! Been sent a link to an Italian wedding venue so I'll check it out and if any good I'll post in on my wall and let u know! Xx
I think the price depends on what you are looking for and what type of wedding you want. Some of the girls on here have weddings like you couldnt imagine for under 5K.
We are probably going to be heading up to Loch Lomond (Im from Glasgow but live in Essex) to have a medium sized family wedding but we still have a niggly feeling about just me, h2b and kids doing it in Oz as we are trying to move out there.
I costed up a few holidays on the beach ie Turkey, Greece etc but because we have 3 children and 2 of those qualify as adults we just felt it wasnt going to save us as much.
xxxx
Working on a 3 dream plan for the next 5 years!
Dream 1 = My gorgeous Mr P proposed - 4/9/11 Sydney Harbour
Dream 2 = Getting Married Easter 2012 by Bonnie Loch Lomond
Dream 3 = Working on that dream life in Australia

That`s true, munchkinpie. I was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and because of that myself and my partner have`nt been able to work since then. My budget is very tight but I`d still love to have our special day xx

Hi, not sure what your budget is hun, but Cyprus is very good on prices. Our old UK, cancelled wedding was costing us £10,000 now we are paying around half that to marry in Paphos, Cyprus. This includes a 2 hour sunset champagne and canapes cruise on a private charter yacht.
The legal requirements for marrying in Cyprus are very straight forward and although you can get a wedding planner to organise all the paperwork for you for around £250. We are doing it on our own though, as I like to know everything thats going on. We looked at Italy and Slovenia before deciding on Cyprus but there were a lot of extra hurdles we had to overcome to marry in those countries. If you do decide on Cyprus, I and a few others on here that are also marrying in Cyprus will be glad to help with any queries. xxx

btw out of the 60 original guests for our UK wedding, 49 are joining us in Cyprus. Some have got fantastic deals on flights/accomodation so it's worth just looking into before discounting the idea. xx

I just read an article on this in a magazine and consensus is that it costs about the same either way but the biggest factor is how many guests you can have with you on the day :-)

yeah me and my fiance looked at getting married in cyprus but it would have meant that we would have had half the guests we were having now and we would have to get the 4 kids passports plus my own etc etc, in the end it worked out the same if not cheaper to stay in uk but i would put that down to finding a good venue that does a lot of things at a good price! do ur research and im sure u will find a conclusion ur happy with! sorry to hear about ur diagnosis btw, im sure whatever u choose will be special for u both x
p.s im on a tight budget too as r a lot of brides on here but it can be done!

We are getting married in Spain and we are doing it all ourselves with the help of my OHs parents who live out there.
Depending on your guest list, it might be cheaper to marry abroad, I think if you have a lot of elderly guests or anyone else important to you who may not be able to travel or want to... you might be better off marrying in the uk!
Got married 27th June and blessed on July 5th 2012

we're planning on getting married in Italy, but they don't open their 'diary' until october (we're wanting 2 get married 2013) . Everything is done differently from region to region in Italy, so its best 2 do ur research. U also might find a wedding planner will be useful if u can't spk the language if ur thinking of getting married abroad, unless its an English speaking country of course!
Sorry 2 hear ur diagnosis. I'm sure u will have a wonderful wedding, wherever it is! x

we're getting married in cyprus with around 20 people coming over and then we're having a huge party when we get back to glasgow. im looking into getting someone to kinda bless the marriage when we get back so that the people who couldn't cope over can see us get 'married'
