I've decided this morning I'm not going to have a hen-do. Since moving back to Bristol from Reading I don't see any of my old friends and they've never made any effort to even contact me to say "welcome home" the only people I have in Bristol is my family and half of them have already told me they won't be able to go to my hen-do because they are skint and can't find babysitters (cheers then) I think if I was to have a hen do I'd have about 5 people there!! And I'd be so embarrassed. My friends in Reading probably wouldn't come either, one of them is getting married in April and I can't go to her hen-do as my sisters baby is due the same weekend and I'm her birthing partner, she understands why I cant be there but I know she just wouldnt come to mine because of it also this morning I received an email about my h2b's cousins w2b's hen-do, its being held in July and it will be a good 300 pound with travel expenses, food and drink, an outfit and hat for ascot and fancy dress for the evenings, hotel room etc etc etc.. I haven't got the money to pay for that, I'm having to pay for my own wedding I can't just fork out that money so I think theres another one I'm going to have to say no too so she won't come to mine either lol! I feel a bit gutted but oh well, I'll just have to go for a few drinks with my mum and bridesmaids instead

i think it would be lovely to have just bm and mum there. they are most important girlies their on your day and you know you will enjoy your night.

dont worry if you wont have loads of people...i wont either but i am going to get dressed up and enjoy my night.

it doesnt matter how manu people are there as long as the most important are!!
    xx

Hey hun dont be so down my hen do wansnt a big one no one turned up i was gutted but the few friends that were there made it a memorable night. The people who care will be with you and want to share your special evening.
Another option what i thought of would be to get you your mum and bridesmaids all chip in and go to a spa for the day or a day out doing paintballing etc make it special with your nearest and dearest!
Hope it goes well but dont worry about everyone else. Enjoy! xxx

I was just thinking I could book us all into a spa, it would literally be 7 people at a push so something like a spa day wouldn't be so bad. I do feel gutted that because everyone elses hen-do's are so expensive and I can't go to them I know they won't come to mine, its a bit mean expecting that but I know exactly what they are like. I know my mum and sister would make it special for me though and they are whats important. You really know who your real friends are at times like this! xx

I didnt have a lot of money hun was on a very tight budget but you do find out who your friends are i did that night, most of them still havent called to say sorry its a joke. Spa day would be great if i was to do it all over i would do that or as above go for a lovely meal and a few drinks with your closest xxx

300 pound for someone elses hen-do the same month most of my wedding has to be paid off is a bit steep! lol. That money could pay for most of my flowers so yeah, I won't be going and paying that amount out and if she doesn't understand then thats up to her. I couldnt even go to my new sil's hen-do last year because it was 150 quid and we'd just paid the venue deposit so I'm going to look like a right cheap skate and tight but I can't help it, I'm out of work at the moment and every bit of money I had saved is gone and all the money h2b brings home goes on the wedding x

how are these people paying for their wedding if they are chucking away 300quid on a hen night? i would rather use the money towards wedding stuff. and i think its a bit unfair on people who want 2 come 2 your hen night but cant afford 300 quid. half my family and closest friends couldn't afford that so i wouldn't do it, id rather celebrate cheaply and with them x

They can afford it, they are from well off families and have great jobs, I don't expect they are paying for there wedding. I'm gutted I can't go to the hen-do, the bride will be related to me! I'm going to have to have a think, check the budget and see what I can do :-( h2b said I should be there! x

My best friend didn't want a hen do when she got married, so about 6 of us went for a chinese and few drinks, and that was fine. I'm going to Manchester for my hen do with about 14 friends, but i'm lucky as one of my old repping friends owns an appartment company so we have managed to get an apartment for us all for around £20.00 pp, which is nothing, and thats the only reason why so many are coming, as if it had worked out too much no one would have been able to afford it.

You have to do what you want to do!! We're not having a wedding reception when we get back from our wedding as too many people were moaning about when we wanted to do it and trying to get us to change the date that I put my foot down and said that its a waste of money that we can't afford for our friends to get drunk on us and give us gifts we don't want or need (not been rude here, but we've being living to gether for 4 years now, and don't need anything and knowing how tight things are for everyone, don't want people to spend money they don't have on us)

At the end of that day this is all about YOU and your H2B and what YOU want, if you only want a small do with close friends, have it.........xx

I am making sure my hen do is cheap - because i would rather have people be able to come and not begrudge having to pay loads of money - Im telling my H2B and the Usher/best men to make sure they dont do anything expensive either because its not fair!!

I am more than happy to go down the pub and maybe on to a club later - or even better staying in playing sing star and getting tipsy!!

And there will only be about 5 of us any way!!

    F*ck it, have fun!!

Yeah I hope to have a hen do, and I'm fully expecting there only to be about 4 or 5 of us - don't think you have to assemble a huge bunch of people for it to be "right". Just go and have fun - even if it's just playing silly games in front of the telly with a bottle of wine and some delivery pizza!

For my hen do I just plan to have a girly night or out with my two girlfriends. Nothing fancy, just relaxed and good fun. A hen do doesn't have to be something big and over the top.

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

I currently don't have anything planned. I have no bridesmaids as all my close friends are male, and have no appropriate female relatives. My Mum lives in Spain. I'd like to go out for a meal and cocktails to TGI Fridays or something like that, but as it stands, I haven't planned one :(

as miss finch says have a girls night in! i dont have many female friends and dont go clubbing or anything like that so was just going to do that to be fair it escalated a bit as we are now having an ann summers party and a nail technician there but it will still only be 5 of us!! an summers rep says she loves small groups because its more intimate and more likely everyone will join in! nail tech is doing nails for anyone ken for £10 its the night before the wedding so combines well as everyone gets there nails done for the big day and a great way to wind off the planning stages before the big day (but im not getting married til 2pm so can have alittle bit to drink ) really looking forward to it!

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

A spa day sounds great for a small group. Most places do packages where you get something like lunch and two treatments each and use of the facilities all day.
