Hi there everyone. Today I became a member of ukbride, huzzah!
Since the day my partner proposed I've been giddy with wedding ideas. Luckily we both want similar things and its been fairly straight forward so far (though no official date yet so nothing's certain) were counting heads and looking at local venues so basically in stage one of planning.
The only thing is... My family... Well what's left of it. I want to walk myself own the aisle, as I have no Dad because he died some years so now. He was my primary carer as my mum had left us. And now i have a sort of "lets get on because we have to" relationship with my Mother. We see each other one r two hours very three weeks.
Then there's my brother, who I pretty much brought up when my Dad was ill, he's my younger sibling and hasn't really offered much n the way of help when it comes to babysitting and helping with the family but I don't resent him for that. He's had a difficult ice after the death o my Father and recently tried to kill himself. My mum thins he hold give me way and I think he kind of assumed he would, but I don't want either f them o do it. I feel the stronger of the three of us, I'm the one who has to keep things together within our family...... I don't want to ask my mum, that's a given, but I don't want to hurt my already suffering sibling.

I'm at a loss at what to do.
Sorry for long depressing post.... I just need some advice

If you want to walk down the aisle alone then do. You don't have to be given away, you can take the line "who gives this women" out. You could also ask your chief bridesmaid to do it if you have one. Perhaps you could find something for your brother to do that will make him feel important and special. Maybe he could sign the register for you. Alternatively it is common for any brothers of the bride to be ushers. You could also include your brother in the procession alongside any bridesmaids, but not have him walk alongside you, he could walk ahead or follow you in, or maybe walk a bridesmaid down the aisle.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Glad you like this place Stephanie.. I'm addicted I think hah. It's lovely to get everyone else's opinions though.. and from people who actually WANT to talk weddings so you don't feel you're going on or boring them to death!! Certainly gets me through my working day

You're not the only one who's addicted flossie hehe. I don't really have anyone to discuss the wedding with but my other half so it's good to get a girls point of view.
