It depends what she's like as a person. An extrovert would probably like something public and big, whereas, I'm an introvert and the dinner cooked by h2b followed by the proposal suited me down to the ground and was perfect. Good luck to him x

and thought it would make a nice proposal!
He could take her out for a nice romantic candle lit meal and at the end give her this and a red rose down on one knee and then they could go shopping for the ring together or he could give her the ring if she says yes .......perfect!

I did organise my first proposal, I told him that I want him to take me to dinner while on holiday then take me for a walk by the beach and tell me how much he loves me. It was nice but does not beat my OH getting down on one knee in the kitchen, could not have been less romantic if he tryed really but was him.

The most important thing isn't the meal or a hot air balloon it that the proposal comes from the heart

My OH was so nervous when he proposed that he forgot most of what he wanted to say and then forgot to get down on one knee! Then he was really angry that he forgot. We were on holiday (but any beach would do) and he had organised a meal on the beach.

A friend of mine did something similar but he had pre-written it in the sand and then when she turned back to her OH he was on one knee which I thought was lovely.

I agree as well. When I was proposed to it wasnt flashy or big it was from the heart. He took me back to Chester city walls where we had our first date when we were students. It was lovely starry evening with no-one around. Perfect.

I saw a ring box on eBay shaped like a rose on a stem ! That would be cool but I agree with others, it should be totally from his heart, if she loves him no matter what way he does it will be perfect to her xxx

I think its down to the individual couple, I would have never have planned my proposal the way my fiancé did it, but it was so him and perfect.

We'd gone out for a party for new years eve, we were having a good dance to the band, as it was getting really hot he suggested we went outside for some air (5 minutes before midnight) the hotel over the way had already started their fireworks (he claims he organised that lmao :p) he then took out a ring box which he has made a sleeve for (to make it look like the tardis) he said ''you have waited long enough'' and showed me inside the ring box, where there was the ring and a message saying ''to the girl who waited, you have waited long enough, will you be my companion''

Complete cheese and nothing like I could have planned or would have expected from him.

I got exactly the proposal I would have wanted which was at his family's holiday home - its such a magical place, it became my happy place from the first moment I got there and he feels just as stongly having grown up having wonderful family holidays there every year. It may not sound special to others but for me it could not have been more perfect yet I don't know if any of my friends would have suggested it if OH had asked them, but then OH really does know me best I guess - with that in mind I think your friend needs to work this one out for himself and then recruit you to help execute his plan (if help is required).

See I didn't get an official proposal my H2b attempted to propose to me on my 23rd birthday and just chucked the box at me lol defiantly not romantic nor how I would of pictured it but I know my h2b struggles with words/speeches so I know that despite how un romantic it was I knew it was just how he was and the fact that he had my mum help him choose the ring etc I knew the thought into it was well meaning and then later on that week he surprised me with a huge bouquet of flowers :) so it is defiantly a personal preference to each couple and how confident he feels with the gesture he is making xx

I was in absolute floods of tears. I don't normally cry in emotional situations (happy ones anyway) so OH was expecting me to just be jumping up and down and really happy, but I just couldn't help it. I ended up with mascara streaked down my face which definitely wasn't how I wanted to look on our anniversary - sooo not sexy!

I wouldn't change how my H2b proposed at all!

I was told the night before (our anniversary) that he would pick me straight up after work as I knew we were seeing Michael McIntyre as we booked it together a few months ago as we always try and see a comedian once a year.

The next day he met me after I finished work at around 3pm, and we walked to the local train station and he said we were going somewhere first but wouldn't tell me. We got off the tube when in London and I don't know London that well so had no idea where we were going and at one point H2b even had to look at a map lol!!
We then arrived at the London Eye and he said he had to check us in but because it was in his name only he could go to the desk (good job I fell for that really lol!) as that was the other thing we were doing, going on the London Eye. We then walk outside and I said that we had to Q and H2b was like oh no we don't and then all of a sudden, we were being escorted on to a private booth with a guide. Turned out, he hired a private booth on the London Eye with Champers and Choc Truffles and got down on one knee when we were at the top.

We then went to see Michael McIntyre after.

I loved that H2b proposed at an unexpected time too ...... the day after our 7 year anniversary :)

A friend of ours proposed by writing "Marry Me?" in the sand on a quiet beach whilst on holiday?

My proposed was sweet. N I didnt notice for an hour. Lol
I was pregnant with my second child and I couldn't walk so he ran a bath for me to help with the pain. He helped me in the bath and as I laid back he was on he's knee. I asked him to go a check if my programme was being recorded. And I closed my eyes. I was in the bathroom. For an hour and he never once left me. I thought it was due to the fact that I was very restricted and he wanted to help. When I got out the bath I noticed that our little girls foam letters spelt out "will you marry me" and he had waited all that time for an answer. Lol.
My advice is to make sure she know what's happening so he gets an answer straight away. Lol. Xx

im not into all the gimmicky stuff my OH took me to London for my birthday told me i wasn't getting a present as the weekend cost too much we went to the theatre in the day and did a bit of sight seeing he tried his hardest to get us on the london eye but the queue was ridiculous and thats where he wanted to do it but ended up in a lovely little restaurant and he did this big fumbled speech about how much he loves me and wants to be with me forever he didn't get on one knee (not enough room) and then proposed with my mums engagement ring the only thing that let it all down was that my mum dropped that many hints i already knew it was coming xx

There are about 3 different versions of how h2b proposed to me
    1. Is the one we made up on the plane coming home from our first holiday together in front of everyone he got down on one knew and asked me they all start clapping I wish I like extrovert but hubby a introvert and not very romantic
    2. mil says he asked me to marry him when we was looking at rings in Turkey and the day he picked the ring and bout it
    3. The real version we was in bed I turned around and he just asked me to marry him the ring was in the safe box not even in his hand and he didn't get down on one knee Lool I said No at first coz I thought he was joking as he didn't do it properly and he turned round and sulked and so said Only kidding of course I will marry you and he turned round we kissed then he got the ring out of the safe and put it on my finger

Which one to tell the children's and grandchildren one day

I'd of been mortified if he got down on one knee in a restaurant and made a spectacle of it....... It wholly depends on him and her as a couple, one persons might like a massive gesture of fanfares with a whole crowd whereas the next (like me lol) may prefer something low key and private and not a big fuss making of it
