rags, i would be totally p!ssed off!! she couldve waited. 8 weeks or so is nothing

i've got psycho on my wrist as it symbolises a part of my life that i got through, but i could never work in a psych ward because of it and it could be an issue for the future (nursing) so i'm really surprised she hasn't been sacked!!

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I think it's her own business what kind of tattoos she gets and when. Being a bridesmaid is nice and bit of a responsibility but, it's still her body. Although I do get the insensitivity about her job.
To be honest if I was a bridesmaid I wouldn't think twice about getting a new tattoo, for me it would be like buying a new necklace or piece of jewelery. My tattoos make me prettier, not ugly.

I think its up to her if she wants to have more tattoos, however out of respect you would think she could have waited. Could the photographer photoshop them out? Obv you'd have to make do for the acutal day, but at least then they could be hidden from the pics?

Annette and Helen, I completely accept and respect your opinions......
However, its not really the tattoos , its the style of them. she does everything to shock, and I believe this is another one of them.

But biggest main thing is, I made the dresses myself and put so much hard work into them to make them look right, had she TOLD me she was thinking of having arm tattoos, I could have designed a slightly different dress, maybe put 3/4 sleeves on it.
I do not expect her to ask my permission, she is 22 yrs old, and it IS her body, and her lifestyle is none of my business, but my wedding IS my business, and I wanted it to look nice, as we all do, and I feel like she is going to look like a chav.
I might as well not worked so hard on the dresses and just told her to come as she is....jeans and tee shirt.

Just checked on facebook to be met by this......H2Bs OTHER daughter had this done today ......actually I was going to have this tattoo once, after getting through breast cancer......I had a reason for it, not just willy nilly....but I didnt have it done.....
But this one is on her side, not noticeable....she has a few tattoos aswell but none of them are noticeable as she doesnt want them to be in yer face

Linzi-jo, one of the tattoos are on her forearm and the other one is at the top of her arm.
I was thinking of a couple of things I can do.
Buy some more fabric and make 3/4 length sleeves on her dress....
buy all of them a lace bolero, but if its hot they will take them off, understandably.

The sleeves. For some reason the purple dress didn't load last time! Well, both actually... the new one is really pretty, but if it saves money then I'd go with the sleeves. Especially when you've put so much effort in already!

New venue is so much nicer, and even knocked £200 off the room hire when we told them about the deposit situation! :-)

I have no problems with tattoos in general (I have a small one across my lower back, so easily hidden) but i do think her tattoos are in poor taste, especially with regards to her job! What was she thinking?! or was she not!

I think the sleeves look pretty and it would save you a few hours in photoshop! I swear I have PS logos burned into my retinas from too many hours with photo shop!

I think the sleeved dresses are lovely, but yes you could have done with her waiting until after the wedding! x

I agree that the tattoos are inappropriate and offensive. Not really my taste but like you say it's her body but I think she should've waited until after the wedding.

I will make 3/4 length sleeves, they will cover the 'crazy' tattoo, but not completely cover the 'we're all mad here' tattoo, but it should cover some of it. There are loads of pretty style sleeves for 50s dresses and I want to make them with little turn-ups on them....

yeah the 'we're all mad here' originally was a quote from Alice in Wonderland, the cheshire cat said it at the tea party, and the other one is a Tim Burton quote........both OK quotes, but not emblazoned on your body surely?

I have ordered fabric to make sleeves for her dress, and when she asks why her dress now has sleeves when it didnt before....I will just say she now has defaced her arms.....which she hadnt before!

I am not putting sleeves on the other 3 dresses, but it will look fine because although all 4 of them have a lot of similarities.....theres is one slight difference in them......so it looks like i have made them all up to be individual for each girl......but up until sleeve gate, her dress was the same as my daughters, so it works out better really.

I want to explain cos that dont sound right

They are all 4 different colours,
they all have box pleated skirts,
2 of them are bandeau necklines with V back
2 of them are halter necks

one of my bridesmaids has piled on weight, and the straight across waistline didnt suit her...so I made hers into a V shape at the front....its the same style dress and is hardly noticeable, but the slight difference is there.

And now that I have to make sleeves for 1 of the bandeau neck dresses, it will mean that there are dirrernces in each dress, but mostly they will match.....and I think it will work because the 2 halter neck dresses are slightly different yet the same, and now the other two dresses can be too.

thanks all.....Yeah I do have enough to do TBH, the purple dress isnt quite finished, and I have ivory sashes to make for them all, plus the clutch bags, then the sleeves on her dress.....Oh yeah then theres mine to finish!

good job I have got a few weeks to do it all in.....But the fabric for her dress comes from Thailand so I know I have at least 2 weeks wait, so I can concentrate on all the other stuff while I am waiting.

Sound like a lot to do, but its not, they are just niggly little bits.....
like my dress, to finish it completely all I need to do is add 2 buttons and button loops at the back and press it......1 hour tops.

they are coming for a final fitting on Tuesday, so i will measure her arms but not tell her why, the fact I am measuring them might give her a clue!
My daugters dress is the same style, and she did once say that little cap sleeves might have looked nice, so I might add those to her dress, and then I can tell H2Bs daughter I added sleeves to both dresses as I thought the style loked better with sleeves rather than without.

Sleeves like this for my daughters dress...

I haven't read it all but I have to agree with what legobride said about it being her own body, and I think that if you have already been okay with the other tattoos i can understand why she wouldn't think of it being a problem, its slightly hypocritical to say one piece is fine for the wedding and the other isn't. Tattoos are a personal choice and what might seem silly to you could seem important to her. Personally I think quotes are usually so much more meaningful than pretty pictures, so its very much to each their own!

I am not disputing its her own body....but its not actually her wedding.
And I am not worried about her taking the limelight or anything like that.
the other tattoos are flowers and not so big and not so noticable, hers are in bad taste, huge and in your face.
OK thats a matter of opinion i know.......but thats my opinion, and IN my opinion I dont like them.
like i said previously, had i known she had them before I would have re-thought the dress design.
Tattoos are definatley a personal choice, and I personally dont like hers. so I will make the dress in MY personal choice, as it is our wedding and I paid for them....

I do believe in to each their own, but this is our day, not a day where she can show off her defaced arms to our guests, just for shock value.

However.... i disagree with getting what she has on her arms considering where she works! its not something you do. I also work in a disabilty school for children and adults.

I do like the idea of the sleeves, the cap sleeves for your daughter will look lovely! wish i had your talents for making my bridesmaid dresses.

I had no idea its very faux par to call them that.....

Daniel is a key worker for one of them and takes him to town to get his toiletries etc, and he really enjoys his company. He is very protective of him. and the others too but especially this particular one as he works with him on a 1-1 basis most of the time.
My son went to University and studied web design.......totally different to what he is doing now, but like most people he took the first job he could to get money, but he loves it and is very good at his job, and I think he is very happy there, happy enough not to even bother looking for the job he trained for.

My son has his work cut out at times, the people he cares for have challenging behaviour, and more than once Daniel (my son) has rung me telling me not to worry but he will be late home, he has been hit, or bitten or something, and is being checked over at the hospital. I used to work at the place he works at, but I didnt stay.....not because of the work, but my marriage ended and I didnt have a sitter to look after the kids when i had a night shift.
