Paul and I have been invited to a friends 40th birthday party this weekend and have been asked to dress up as its a 70's fancy dress party, so I am looking for ideas for both myself and Paul. We dont want to hire anything as pennies are low but was thinking of scanning the local charity shops later. I have so far thought of Paul wearing a checked shirt, tartan scarf, and old jeans which I would make into flares by adding tartan material to the bottoms of the legs at the side and he could look then a bit like a member of Bay City Rollers! For myself I am trying to find a psychedelic top, which I am sure I have at the back of my wardrobr as a previous silly purchase, going to wear black leggings/trousers, have wedge/platform sandals, and thought of maybe making a wee headband with a bright flower on it and leaving my hair down straight so that I look like ive got Flower Power.
What do you all think of these ideas? Any further ideas and pics are most welcome as only other thing I can come up with is the girls from Abba, which I have done before at a SingalongaAbba thing a few years back at the local theatre.
Cheers girls and guys. x

How about 70's pop stars?

Glam rock, as long as you have platforms and anything shiny, 70's david bowie "ziggy stardust" face paint and glitter pretty inexpensive and most of us girlies have stashes of it or think Abigails party, have a google :0)xx
Thanks girls, thought no one was going to reply lol, liking the glitter and face paint idea, going to look at 70s pop stars online to get an idea, have a shiny black shirt (rather see through but will wear a sun top underneath) in my wardrobe somewhere. And just got in post my very cheap purple feather boa from ebay that I thought I could wear too. x
