It is my hen night on sat and ill be totally sober. I have to use morphine based pain patches for me to be able to lead a relatively normal life i suffer from aggressive osteo arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis)
I am looking forward to having a night with family and friends, there are going to be 25-30 women there and I will be about the only sober one...
I am going to stick to my own drinks as I am worried after a few drink some people may get silly and try and mess with my drinks not realising it really could be dangerous and would make me feel very ill.
I am a confident person but not happy to be the whole centre of attention ..much happier to plan things then take a back seat.
The night started off as a small number of us meeting for a nice meal and a few giggles but it has grown into something much bigger. My dad dying seems to have motivated people to be determined to show me a good time which is so nice and I am grateful for the love being shown to me, but I am still a little worried.
Any ideas on how i can cope?

I don't drink haven't for around 6 years, personal choice. When I first went out after giving it up I used to tell myself I don't need drink to have fun and would laugh at my friends doing random things, knowing that I would have a perfect memory the day after to remind everyone of what they did. Lol :) Now when I go out its just natural. X

It is weird with so many people drinking around you but just think of the stories you can tell them in the morning. Will keep you occupied and entertained all at the same time. Xx

I think that if you need to take time to yourself take it, even if you have to hide in the toilets for a while. Also, it might be helpful to have someone who can advocate for you if you find people are pushing you to drink. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time :)
You don't need to drink to have fun. Just go out and enjoy yourself, at least you can people watch and see how drunk the others get.

I don't drink anyway so mine will be a quiet one, I'm very similar I don't really like being centre of attention and I'd rather sit back and let everyone else carry on.

I don't drink often and have been to lots of parties where lots of people are drinking and found after the first few have asked me if im having a drink they tend to leave me alone. You don't need to have a drink to have a good night x x

I will have a bit to drink but won't get drunk. I prefer to be in control. Tell everyone honestly at the beginning that you can't drink for medical reasons, and ask your MOH to keep an eye out. It's her job to look after you. Then just laugh at everyone and make sure it's your bridesmaids who take responsibility for looking after people who've had too much not you. They should also stay reasonably sober.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

If you explain to people, some of the other hens may also decide not to drink to support you.
I also have Arthritis - it's rubbish! You need the medicine more than you need the alcohol! You will still have a fab night and maybe people wont binge too much if you aren't drinking too.

I'm tee total so will also be a sober hen and happy to be so!
Everyone I know knows I don't drink because I just simply don't like it.
It's amazing how much you can still enjoy yourself without alcohol, all those yummy non-alcoholic cocktails without the dizzy and sore head that follows! Also, you consume less fluids in general which means it's a cheaper evening plus less calories!!!! xxx

Maybe explain to everyone at the beginning of the night that you have a morphine patch on hun and that you will be staying alcohol free but in the mean time that doesnt stop you all having a good night or stop any1 else from drinking Im sure the ladies will all be supportive of you and understand you need the painkillers more then the alcohol but it wont eefect your night xxx
