I work at morrisons on the hot counter - the problem is I keep getting bad burns on my arm and hands! I have asked to move departments but have been told that its a stupid reason to want to move.....

they do provide gloves and arm protectors but I can only wear them for empting the oven and its when I am on the counter that I get burned

I am going to look a total mess in my strapless wedding dress with all my scars!!! am I being stupid???

Surely there is some sort of health and safety issue there as the counters shouldn't be that hot unless you are provided with some sort of protection? I don't blame you for wanting to move though. I'd badger them enough until they get fed up and move you to keep you quiet!! x

Its a health and safety risk, if you're job is causing you injuries, they have an obligation to make sure you can work without injuries.

Visit the Health and Safety Executive website, you can find the health and safety at policy that will give you the back up to use. they cannot breech these conditions.

    Hope this helps x

thats awful, you shouldnt have to put up with those burns whether or not you want to look good in your wedding dress, you should make a complaint about health and safety, its just not acceptable x

I think wanting to move as you keep getting burns is perfectly reasonable whether or not you are getting married!

i have a dilema similar to this, i work at a vets coz im finishing my veterinary nurse training and i get scratched by something almost everyday. sometimes i get bad bites aswell so about 6 weeks before the wedding im refusing to touch any animal that may injure me. my head nurse did it before me so im going to aswell. luckily my work mates have agreed to take the scratchy animals :)
