Hey there, I get married in 10months time and I'm going to see a florist next week I really want fresh flowers and obviously someone else to do the centrepieces instead of the stress doing it myself, now my mum and sister keep saying it is too expensive and that they want to do it but I'd rather have a professional do it and not have to worry about it what's your thoughts on this?? Ive personly opted out of having flowers, but i think if you want them you should go for it. Florists can also come up with beautiful arrangements that the average person would struggle with. Stick to your guns. It will take a load of your mind

I've got fresh flowers Hollie and I wouldn't have had it any different. Yeah it's more money but if it's something you want then go for it. Remember it's your day and not theirs x

I have fresh flowers, well, the room decor woman is doing the roses for the centrepieces and a florist is doing the bouquets, corsages and button holes.....
If you want fresh, have fresh! Remember it's your day, do what makes it easier for you xx

If it's what you and your H2b wants then go for it. Your wedding, not theirs. You will only regret not putting your foot down. Hope you get it sorted xx
Remember it's your wedding, not their wedding. If you want fresh, have fresh! x

Go with what YOU want! Fair enough if your mum and sister are paying a significant amount to the wedding. Shop around as I found some florists really vary. One I went to wanted to charge me in excess of £450. I ended up using my local florist and in total it came to £280 and that included: large bouquet for MOB, bridal bouquet for me, 2 flowergirl bouquets, 2 mother of bride/groom corsages, 6 groom party corsages and a wrist corsage for my bridesmaid.

At the end of the day it's your wedding no theirs. I thinks its lovely that they have offered and if they are worried about price try and find an independent florist rather than a shop you get the same quality but at a lower price as they cut out the middle man. I've saved about £450 by using an independent one and that is all fresh flowers everything included.

I would say go for whatever you want. But don't forget to thank your mum and your sister for trying to help. You can have it your own way and still make everyone happy :)

I think if it is within your budget and you would be happier doing it that way then go for it! it's your wedding and like you said it will be one less thing for you to stress about x

Totally understand where you're coming from. I have had some offers with regards to crafty bits and turned them down. If you want fresh and are happy to pay the cost then that's what you should do. Less stress than relying on family and having to source flowers etc. Just tell them straight thanks for the offer but you want to pay the money and have organising the flowers be someone else's worry.

It's up to you. I had a professional to do the arrangements at the front of the church, and mum and her sister did the pew ends which were just a single flower and a ribbon. The centrepieces weren't floral.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I personally love fresh flowers and think they are hard to beat. As everyone said its your wedding. Not theirs at the end of the day. Plus as you said it will be a lot less stressful.

I personally have opted out of fresh flowers because of the expense but if you are willing to pay for it than go for it i say. I regret every moment of me saying i will d.i.y this whole wedding because its caused nothing but stress. This being said... Why not ask your mum to mock one up and see if you like it??

Just make sure you get lots of quotes as they can really vary. One we had was over £650 and was only for bouquets and buttonholes! The lady we went with did the same flowers for £220 and they were stunning.
Maybe you could find another crafty type job for your mum and sister to do that isn't flowers? X

It's your wedding Hun. If you can afford to pay sometone to do it then let them do it. Keep your stress to a minimum. My oh and I had long conversations about what we could afford to pay for and what ideas we had for diy... In the end the only diy we did was decorate the cake and put lights in the cake stand. You'll have enough to stress about getting everyone ready on the day without faffing and fussing about decorations xxx
