I sent all my bridemaids a message on facebook saying that if they all still want to be bridesmaids (as they asked me, I didnt ask them) that they need to pay for their own dresses. One of them just text me saying it was rude harsh and makes it seem like its a chore to me for them to be bridemaids. :( i didnt mean it like that. I just meant that I do want them all there, but budget won't allow so they have to contribute a little themselves. now i feel bad that i've upset them :(

Dont worry theyl understand my bridesmaids are paying for there own dresses and they are fine with it. Try not to worry sometimes things can b taken the wrong way x

Yeah, they won't be upset that you've asked them to pay for their dresses, but as people have said - it's easy for these things to come out the wrong way. So it's easily rectifiable, by explaining you didn't mean it like that, and what you meant was that you desperately want them ALL to still be bridesmaids but you can't stretch to dresses :)
I'm sure once you've told them what you mean and make them understand better they will be fine. Loads of brides ask for their bridesmaids to pay for their own dresses. The honour that you've asked them to be apart of your day in such a special way I'm sure once understood properly it will be all fine :) Maybe arrange a face to face meeting with all of your bridesmaids go out for lunch or something so these conversations wont get mixed up through text and email?? Have a girlie afternoon/evening :) That would be nice

i agree hun just explain that u really want them all to be bridesmaids but your budget wont strech that far and im sure they will understand i have asked mine to pay half and they were all fine with it i couldnt afford 8 dresses lol x

Aww hun it's ok, just send another message saying you've just been told how that message came across and you want to assure them it isn't how you meant it. Maybe you could arrange a girly evening with your bm's and you can all talk about it as well as having a laugh! Cx

i don't think you have done anything wrong. but perhaps the news would have been best over the phone or face to face as you can't always tell how the written word was supposed to be meant.

yeah i know what you mean, but one of them is working in Luton at the mo then flying straight to turkey to work for the summer without coming home so I dont want to leave her out, so thats why i messaged everyone at the same time so everyone was involved. won't be trying that one again!

It's hard to get across what you mean when you are typing, texting etc... I sometimes read my texts back to myself before \i send them as I can just be quite blunt and to the point, which can sound rude if you know what I mean? Why don't you send her a letter in Turkey and think long and hard about how to re-phrase what you meant. I'm sure she'll appreciate that alot xx

Just tell them straight that you didn't mean it as it sounded - if they are your friends they would know you didnt mean it like that.
And i think its a great idea to write to your BM who will be in Turkey.
