I was originally going to invite about 110 guests (that include friends with potential partners) for my evening reception, and have been asking for addresses, for save the date. Unfortunately, the venue we've booked said maximum 90 at night, and preferably 80, so what do I do? I have already told them, about the wedding, and I'm afraid that if some friends I keep as they're really close to me, come the other friends will feel let down if I don't invite them. Should I then just keep them as back up in case I have some RSVP saying no? in percentage how many no have you received?

i would as thats kind of what we have had to do. my venue said 120 minimum, but even if we get 150 rsvps they are going to turn people away at 120 no. doesnt make sense to me as there is potential to lose money.

I come from a huge family but because of the costs we have kept numbers low and blamed the venue lol
Most ppl understand this and those that dont ive kept for back up if i get any no's...............you could always go out for a meal with those that dont come at a later date!

The only thing i would say is dont relie on a % of ppl saying no as my friend invited 115 ppl hoping 15 would say no and they ALL said yes lol

OK. I do know that some people from France will be likely to say no because of the cost of coming and staying over here. but I'll follow your advice and really keep numbers down and save the other ones as backup :)

ooops hails. lol i saw on another thread that some of the ladies had had between 5 - 10 no's already and invites hadnt been out that long so i would def use the people closest first and have the others on the back up guest list x

i would just inbite them. you are only 20 over and you will get some people saying no. and the venue wont tell the difference anyway. people will be dancing/sitting outside smoking so they will never know. just dont tell them.

About a quarter of all our invitees arent able to come so I wouldnt worry about it, I would invite everyone and risk it! (And if the y SO all say yes and turn up the venue are hardly going to do a head count as people arrive.... I'm sure more could get in unnoticed)

I have just spoken to H2B who said I should just invite them all, and the venue will definitely not do a head count and they won't notice an extra 10ish people. so less worry for me now. :)
