Me & h2b are starting our 2nd go at IVF this month, we haven't told anybody.
Obviously i've had to give up the drinking when we go out now (which ppl will question because I always like a drink when we go out as it doesn't happen very often) but sods law we have got a 40th Party this wkend, My Birthday next week, i'm on SIL hen wkend at the end of the month, h2b's Birthday next month & all of Christmas, how can I come up with excuses for all these for not drinking, PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAASSSSEEEE HELP! x

1) on anti-biotics (no one ever asks)
2) don't feel well in general
3) go to bar yourself and get orange and says there's vodka in it
4) still hungover from party night before (even if your weren't at one they won't know)
5) blame 'ladies problems' to bloated to drink
6) lack of pennies

just a few off the top of my head

I like Kate's ones! Sticking with fruit juice, you could say you are doing a detox programme for the wedding? No alcohol etc.

Blame dieting who knows how many caleries are in some drinks.

I can't drink due to medical problems and at first I tried using all sorts of excuses now I just don't bother. People get used to it after awhile.

when i was on a diet for the wedding i just said i was on a diet and therefor not drinking and most people accepted it.

otherwise just go to the bar yourself and tell people it is alchohol. they will soon be drunk and wont even ask you xx

Antibiotics are good especially as alcohol stops them working, if they question why you are taking them say it was an abscess and you are right at the end of your course and don't want to risk it coming back. I'm a terrible liar and gave up drinking after seeing a video of myself looking like a proper muppet whilst drunk, I didn't want to tell people this so I used the antibiotics fib. It was all going well util somebody asked what for and I went bright red and couldn't think of anything. While I was thinking my friend caught on to my embarrassment but took it the completely wrong way and just said "ahh I see, say no more wink wink". I have no idea what she thought it was but it can't have been good.
I made a little mental note to myself that if I was going to lie it would be best to know the back story.

Say you're on strong antibiotics that will make you projectile vomit everywhere and you don't want to turn the party in to a scene from the exorcist. Or say you've been advised by the doctor to stop drinking due to possible causes for bloating and they're looking at all causes.x

LOL @Mummytoolivia that's a brilliant one! Detox is a good excuse - people will be going "Oh isn't she good.." and then mind their own business!

I don't drink and haven't for a few years now because I hate losing control when I'm drunk and alcohol makes my hands ache like the devil (weird I know). Most people just accept it now! x
