    Hi everyone,

We got engaged on New Year's Day and I'm starting to put feelers out for venues for a 2014 wedding. I've looked through loads of hotels and country houses but am now thinking a marquee that we can decorate in our own way will be more our style.

Does anybody know of any country houses/farms/fields in Hampshire that can hold ceremonies without having to rent the building as well?

Any pointers would be a great help :)

I don't think you're legally allowed to get married out of doors in the uk Hun....you'd have to have your ceromony elsewhere and maybe just the reception in a marquee? I think, somebody correct me if I'm wrong..

That said, most places that do hire out grounds for a marquee will have a ceromony room that is licensed...and often they will let you use this for free. Xx

Have you had a look at taplins place? They have a converted barn to get married in, and then you could have your marquee too xx

Yes you're right it turns out the ceremony can't be outside. Although apparently you can get all the paperwork done at the registry office on the morning or a couple of days either side and have a sort of pretend ceremony anywhere you like!

Thanks for the ideas I'll go and check them out

    Xx

My friend is a registrar and she done a wedding on a weekday with a couple with just two witnesses, and then they had their blessing outside at one of the chines on the island. You could always do that if you want it all in a field.

Slightly different, but it may help you...we got married in Vegas (the legal bit, and it was sooo much fun!) and a month later we had a blessing (outside) in our local park that was conducted by our very good friend. We had family and friends present that couldn't make it to the actual wedding and also hired a local restaurant for the 'reception' where we were joined by more family and friends (as you would do in a 'regular' wedding for the evening do).
Everyone that came to the blessing said how nice and personal it was. May be you could do something like that after you have the registry office legal bit?
