for the reception back home i had planned on having a larger version of the cake i'm having in cyprus, which is a 2 tier round cake, plain, white icing, 3 sugar gerberas (turquoise, orange and bright pink) and the top sponge is pink madeira with strawbery jam and buttercream, the bottom sponge is orange flavoured and coloured, with orange curd and buttercream (mmm...)

anyway, my friend was going to make this into a supersized version. 6 tier (5 real and the bottom one is fake)

i saw a beautiful cake a few weeks ago and fell in love


the photo really doesn't do it justice. the sparkle from it is unbelievable!!

since my shoes are covered in crystals, i have a sparkly jewellery bouquet, my wishing tree will have similar diamantes dangling from it's branches and (hopefully) making a sparkly belt, i thought a sparkly cake would fit in well

it won't be exactly the same. i'm just using it as inspiration :) she's going to make the sponge on each tier pink and orange, so every slice will have two colours (i love the 'secret' coloured sponges). i don't think i'll have the detail at the top, but i suppose it would save me from having a topper. since i'm using brooches on my belt and have brooches on my bouquet, she thinks having one or two tiers with a brooch would look good and i agree

she said it was going to 'wow' my guests. i said i didn't want a 'wow' cake. i want a 'holy f@ck!!' cake lol

i can't wait to get my teeth stuck into it lol

i'm not paying anywhere near the amount it's advertised at haha!! no way i could afford THAT!!! lol

but even if someone bought a plain, white cake from a supermarket, the diamante ribbon/strands are REALLY cheap from the bay. easy enough for even me to make myself (i wouldn't dare though lol)

for a 5 tier it's £537, which is ok i suppose, but still out my budget lol

in total i'm paying 150 for mine. it was originally 80, but i sent her 100 as i thought 80 was taking advantage. but then i wanted bigger and now i want this lol so another 50 to cover the cost of the materials and her time. she's making h2b's surprise 30th birthday cake as well (his birthday is the week after the blessing), so there is going to be a mountain of cake there lol
