*GOES RED* lol

"A person in charge of proceedings" "Someone who takes charge at a banquet" <<<< web definitions lol..
Basically someone who oversees the wedding hun.. He deals with the hotel (in my case) for you to make sure everything is running smoothly, he announces the bride, then the new Mr & Mrs into the wedding breakfast, announces the first dance etc!
They coordinate with the band/DJ/photographer and basically they make sure everything runs as it should on time! They make sure guests are seated where they should be so liaises with the ushers, he makes sure guests are available for the photographer, announces the speakers during the wedding breakfast, arranges the cake cutting ceremony!
Does quite a bit lol..x

We have just booked a toastmaster yesterday as it was something that h2b really wanted. I wasn't that fussed about having one & still not entirely sure what he does but it will fit in nicely with our venue and I suppose it takes a bit of stress off. He does most of the weddings at our venue & knows all the staff well so that's good x

i am def having one i decided this before anything else, :) i have waitressed at a number of weddings and always liked it when a toastmaster was involved. They basically do everything to make sure the day runs smoothly, liaise with bestman and MOH. Ensure that absent people are removed from tables so there are no glaring gaps. They are fab at announcing bride and groom this makes it feel more special. Be careful those who have one as part of the venue they are not always toastmaster but the wedding coordinator acting as one. I waitressed at one where this happened and the wedding coordinator got the names wrong as she introduced them, a nearby waiter had to whisper to correct her. Luckily bride and groom thought it was funny, i dont think i would have done.
getting married on 29th June 2013

Erm I'm confused...in Norway you just ask a close friend of one of the families to be the toastmaster, and it's considered an honor to be asked. You'd NEVER pay for someone to do it :S So that's what we'll be doing, we'll ask an uncle or someone, and then people who want to speak or whatever just contact that person and he keeps it all in order like...so at the wedding he/she will get up and introduce each speaker when it's their "turn"...
Is it more normal to pay for a stranger to do it here?
