I have actually done it!!

I had my appointment yesterday at 5:30 and went in saying I'd like something fitted and lacey - classy, elegant and vintage.

2 hours later I came out having ordered nothing like that but I have found the absolute one!!!!!!!!!

I had my mum and 3 BMs there and we had an amazing night.

Unfortunately my CBM [and sil2b] went home and then text me telling me I was out of order for stopping her from telling mil2b what my dress was like :/
At the very beginning of the appointment I explicitly said NO ONE was to know what my dress looks like and everyone [including her] agreed - I then get a text saying I'm out of order, mil2b is upset that she can't know and that I should rethink because she has done a lot for me and h2b.

I appreciate she has done a hell of a lot for us and for that I'm very very grateful. There are, however, a lot of my family who have done a lot for me and h2b and I'm not rushing out to tell them!!!! She can wait the year til the day like the other 114 people who have no idea what my dress looks like.

Sorry for the rant. I was in an amazing mood last night and my MOH took me out to dinner to celebrate. When I got that text it ruined my mood and I felt my 'choosing my dress day' was ruined, especially when i told h2b and he was like 'well. maybe you should just tell my mum' - NO. I'm may sound a 'zilla but it's one thing I was to keep my way about the entire day is that as few people as possible know what it looks like. Please tell me if I'm overreacting but please be nice as I'm quite emotional.

Again, sorry for the rant. On a positive, my dress and accessories are BEAUTIFUL :) xxxxx

aww people should respect your wish's over the dress. the dress is the one thing that is completely personal to you. just tell them it's a tradition your sticking with and if they don't like it tuff xxx

the thing that irritated me was that she was like 'yeah thats fine' and then sent me a 3 page text after she left. She knew I was going out, why didnt she wait til today?!! :(

Aww, congrats for getting your dress!!
And just ignore mil2b, its your dress, whats the point of everyone knowing what its like before you walk down the aisle?
It should b a lovely surprise for her to look forward too.

its a shame that you had to cave on something you were dead set on, but my guess would be that your mil2b probably just felt a bit left out being the only central woman not let into the fold (given that ur mum, sil2b etc were there). Hope you don't let it upset you anymore because the ladies are right , it is your dress, you and h2b's day, and you shouldn't let anyone get you down! x

i appreciate all your posts. in a way im really upset because its my day and ive been guilted into doing the one thing i said i wouldnt but at the same time atleast she's happy now.

she didnt do it to me directly it was sil2b and then h2b took 'their side' as it were.

lost my groove now and cant wait for it all to be over. im annoyed with myself but hey ho, appeasement it is.

wouldnt have worked as sil2b would have seen it as okay to then talk about the dress.

i bought it last night with the dress. you can see it on the photo i sent but the detailing you cant see. it's beautiful :)

Just read through the thread. Congrats on finding your dress. I'd be annoyed too if I was you :( I'd drop hints and say you've been looking at other dresses. Throw all different styles into the mix and in a few weeks say you're going to book another appointment to try dresses on, and only your mum is going with you. That will keep them all guessing until the day. I think I'd be more annoyed at your other half though taking their side! There's only my mum that will see me in mine as she's the one making it. I think my bm's may see it whilst mum is doing work on it but that's it x

InDreamland - it wouldnt be fair of me to show you all on here and keep out MIL2B so no I won't be sharing. I also have a few friends on here that I know and are coming to the wedding so it's a double no!!

ClareE - I am annoyed but what's done is done and she has her own way. H2B is going to chat to her about backing off a bit as she has been a bit full on with the planning.

MrsBrammer - It's not just her that was miserable it was making SIL2B and H2B miserable so I was the one that was the kn0b unfortunately. I will never win! xxx

Just read through... Im sorry you felt you had to give in but what's done is done now, everyone can shush and stop moaning at you and leave you be! At the end of the day you are getting married to the man of your dreams and you have an amazing future ahead and that should put such a smile on your face that everything else just melts away! Families are hard and theres always wedding issues but try not to let them get you down too much!!
