Im stress free today! Finally.... Ive been stressing about the buffet and money and the cake etc... anyways, i went to my best friends house yesterday (who is also one of my bms), her mum is a cook and asked about the buffet etc, i was a bit stuck because my aunty who is a chef has said she can do the buffet for us at £4 per head... but we have at least175 people are invited to the wedding so thats way too much for us to spend on buffet food, especially as it doesnt include deserts.

Anyway, chatting to my bm's mum yesterday, she said that we can do the buffet by ourselves for a lot less and get more food for our money. She gave me loads of advise on where to go for the best deals etc... And she makes cakes as a hobby and has offered to make our wedding cake as present.. .

So.. we are having a 3 tier square stacked cake with roses draping down it.. Bottom layer fruit, middle layer, chocolate, and top layer, sponge!

Rose..(bm's mum) is also going to help me make the buffet with my bm and my mum. We have decided to cater for 120 people as I dont think that all 175 are going to turn up that were invited. I feel better about it now, but from the stress over this weekend trying to get things sorted, im full of cold sores! xxx

i agree it so much cheaper to do you own buffet, its good that you have help. i would end up doing it all by myself and not having enough time to get ready and stressing even more lol the most i have done a buffet for is 90 for my daughters 18 and as my kitchen is quite small i was stressing like mad lol

Oooo I missed this one - sorry Erica!! So pleased you have it all worked out. I have often wondered about doing my own food for events, but then I have no space to store everything in the fridge if I make it the day before - presumably you have a ton of fridge space somewhere?

I'm actually liking the idea of my DIY aspects of the wedding, well when they work out anyway, because it's like a little ego boost, and something extra personal to know that you made it yourself. I even had a go at making a tiara, which came out great, but isn't quite the style I want, so I may let my niece wear it on the day, so at least it's at the wedding - LOL.

And the news on the cake is brilliant! I have a family friend making mine, and I'm really pleased about it (and Mum is paying for it - yay!), I just have to decide what I want it to look like now!!

that sounds gud, but do u honestly want to make ure own buffet on the mornin of the weddin?? my mate did it and she was so stressed, they did it nite b4 and let me tell u i wudnt touch the food that was made so much earlier the sandwichs wasnt in the best condition

yes my mate did hers nite b4! the bread wa slike cardboard and to be fair my mother in law is a chef and a buffet shud be done/ kept out for no more than 4-6 hours ( 6 hours bein wen ure totally durnk u eat owt lol)
