Paracetamol, ibuprofen, big glass of water. Steam inhalation with menthol crystals or eucalyptus oil. Phenylephedrine (the decongestant also known as sudafed and found in lemsip etc). And an enormous dose of vitamin C!

    God luck!

Oh and eccinacea can be good for you too!

Yup, just make sure you read the ingredients - so long as the only ingredient is the decongestant and it doesn't also contain paracetamol or ibuprofen you'll be fine :) The ones that are advertised as cold and flu remedies on the box tend to have paracetamol in too. :)

Oh and always buy the max strength cold/flu medicines as the ordinary ones never have a full dose of paracetamol in them :)

To be honest most of the things don't actually work. You just have to let the cold run its course so all you can do is find something that eases some of your symptoms. This can be anything from lemons, honey for a sore throat, paracetamol for the aches, Sudafed (although this contains paracetamol) for snots or do what I do and treat yourself to a big bottle of southern comfort lol. Just rest up and your body will kick into gear to fight it off. x x x
