I am an absolute baby when it comes to bugs! My worst fear is wasps (and most flying things) ...
I am trying to prep myself for our honeymoon as I know we will be in a tropical climate with many a bug!!!
We are going to Cayo Guillermo in Cuba and I just wondered if anyone had been and has any advice for me or if anyone can recommend a good insect repellent for me on my wall??
Thanks in advance ladies (and gents?)
xx
Here comes the bride......

i dont have any advice as far as the cuba bit but there are lots of great insect reppelents out there the only one that i found works for me (so far) is the sun cream with insect repellent from avon! we went to kos and i found when i used a different one i got bit loads!! but you can get a plug in for mosquitos and that tends to prevent most flying bugs from coming into your room unless you leave all windows open all night!! xx hope you manage to find something tho hun xxx
i cannot wait to marry my best friend
i love you ry!!!

One tip is if you have walking shoes that you step into, put a sock over the top or put them in a bag, so when you step into them there isn't anything in there! :-)

Avons skin so soft is meant to be one of the best things to stop mosquitos and midgies if that helps

if you ask the hotel etc where you are to burn some coffee granules on your table that keeps them away too

you need to pick one with a high deet content, the higher the content the better the protection, i got told this by a travel nurse who stabbed bout 4 needles in my arm when i was going to australia, another tip check you have had all the necessary injections some countries need you to have some (high malaria risk and so on)

I was advised to not buy from the chemist but to buy from a camping/outdoors shop as they are more designed for practicality x

Good insect repellent is a good idea, but if it's any consolation, I've been to Cuba twice and not seen any wasps. The biggest issue I had was with mosquitos, so definitely invest in a good repellent, and use it liberally, if you're prone to being bitten, and also bring some after-bite or anti-histamines.
Otherwise, I never saw many insects, apart from when we stayed at a very basic hotel in the middle of a valley surrounded by forests; there were a few spiders there.
To avoid bugs in your room, keep your room and balcony doors closed as much as possible, and if there's a gap under the door, put a towel against it to stop insects getting in. I would also request a higher-floor room if possible as ground-floor rooms tend to be more prone to bugs.

I believe that garlic capsules can help as well - you sweat it out and although you can't smell it, apparently bugs don't like it!
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
