Recently got engaged and my friends all brought me a load of magazines. Reading them just feels so daunting! Did you guys start making scrapbooks straight away? I feel like I should cause thats what all my friends did and said it really helped! Feeling so lost!

    I need inspiration! AAHH

Congratulations on your engagement! You've come to the right place. There is a thread on here I'll find and bump for you as that is helpful for giving a pointer on where to start.

Before the scrap book though you and H2b need to agree on what your budget is and set it, decide then when you think you' like to get married and book church/registrar/venue for ceremony and reception. Then once the budget and date is set you can do the fun stuff xxx

Thanks so much! Our budget is around the 21 grand mark give or take. Ideally I want a Summer wedding so am earmarking next July as our date. Just feel so daunted by it all, and there is just so much to take into account! xxx

You'll have to get a move on if you're wanting July next year as prime peak season dates at popular nice venues can get booked up 2 years in advance. You have a very healthy budget though which is good so that will make it easier.

Have you decided if you're having a religious or civil ceremony?

Civil, I was hoping a stately hotel in the South West. Yeah I did think that too. Having a research at the moment though so hopefully will find something soon!

The newly engaged stage is so exciting! I remember getting engaged last year mid-January, setting the date and thinking it was ages away. Thank goodness my sister and BIL got married 2 years ago so it was still fresh in our minds what had to be done and in what order so she has helped keep me on track etc.

Summer 2014 will come around really fast.

    xx

Thanks guys I am really excited and just want to start with planning the fun things haha!

Been chatting with some friends and starting a bit of a debate with the 'fun' stages. Pinterest or making physical scrapbooks! Or both! I REALLY want to join Pinterest - some of the stuff people post looks amaze. What do you think? :)

Pinterest is amazing, our budget inc honeymoon is a bit shy of yours, and it's amazing how I'm still struggling to have everything I want within it, we are having a civil ceremony in a barn near bath. I'd start looking at venues ASAP as July is a popular peak month, and places can and do book quickly especially Friday and Saturdays. This bit was fun, although we quickly wrote off lots of venues and only viewed three in the end. Use your wedding mags to give you an idea of venues, make a short list and go for it. I found once our venue and therefore date was confirmed and booked, things have started to fall into place, and it has helped me set a theme, find the dress, colour scheme etc. have fun with it, don't let it stress you out, xx

Congrats on your engagement! I found searching for venues so much fun, then it got stressful when we needed to make a decision as they all have so many good reasons to choose! I love Pinterest - it's so lovely when you just pin things you like and take a look at your board later and suddenly you see a theme or something in common with everything hat you weren't aware of! Oh I'm going to have a play on mine at lunchtime :-) xx

Congratulations on the engagement, like the others said, definitely get your date at a venue booked ASAP as July is busy and arrange to have ur registrar booked the same day by ringing them otherwise you may have to change ur date if there's no one available to marry you! Enjoy it and don't get stressed xxx

first thing i did was buy a mag, thought what a load of old crap and didnt have the slightest clue what to do or where to start lol

luckily I joined this place and that helped way more than any fancy pants mag haha I probably still wouldnt of got anything done if i hadnt haha!

First thing i did was get an idea of numbers. first thing i booked was the registrar aftrer enquiring about a few dates at my venue then booked the venue, the registrar seemed shocked i was booking them first, but im not actually sure which way you are suposed to do that anyway. It worked out alright for me anyway lol

Oh I will say though, that when i did book the registart the date I had chosen had very few time slots available, and that was like 20 months in advance, so id recommend getting that and the venue sorted asap!
