A friend of mine is getting married on 4th August which is apparently the most popular day to marry this year, she struggled to get a venue and ended up with a village hall. She was devastated and worried that she'd never be able to make it look good. It cost her £100 to hire the place and she had free reign to do what she wanted with the decor. She found a place that decorates venues and they have given her fantastic value for great decoration. I can't wait to see it in 3 weeks, she's finally excited about it and she's saved a ton of money. You could always try doing something like that, it's amazing what you can do with a buildings interior even if the outside isn't a stately home, nobody really cares or notices.

However before writing it off you should be able to see your chosen venue yourself. Really mean of your mum.

we found this hard also as we're getting married august bank holiday next yr. but luckily because we looked so far in advance its not been too bad concidering iv been double booked on a venue and the other one ran off with my money lol. x

bristol hmmmmm where abouts? if u dont mind me asking. only cause i know bristol very well. my dads family are bristolian. they lived in fishponds and also got friends in henbury x

Well think of it is as a lucky escape and now think positive and you will find somewhere else.... be creative how you search as i found if i put wedding recpetion in a search engine i got all the big places that obvousily pay alot to go up search rankings so try searching for barns, village halls, conference centres, hotel chains, etc xx

I agree - definitely better to find out now than a month before. There are quite a few bristol ladies on here if you need help or ideas on the venue :)

Thank you ladies i hope we do too, not my Favourite thing to do find it soo hard :/ looking get bored to quickly and end up having to give up, we havent got loads of cash so cant afford alot and there so expensive ahhhh lol

We have put a deposit on a church but that was because we thought it would be close to the venue we like.
at this rate i will just take out a loan to pay for somewhere all together would just be easier i think :( x

Oh no hun! At least you found out now rather than a month or two before hand.

Really hope you find another venue soon or your current venue will actually come through and be ready for your wedding!
