I've been following this thread over the past couple of days and I'm going to put in an objective pov (sorry lol)
You work for your dad and his company BUT if you're being seen to be given preferential treatment then it compromises your dad's professionalism. It's up to him who he hires and fires and for what reason. You're in a managerial position, now I'm sure you deserve that position but to others in the company it could come across as "Ooh, Daddy's little princess has a department all of her own, I wonder if she'd have that position if she wasn't his daughter"
Let's say for saying's sake that you worked for another company and the same incident occured there - you go tell the boss what's happened, they have their say and then boss makes a decision on how to handle it - would you be annoyed if there was a hearing and it was 'dropped'? Yes, but not as upset as this because there'd be a dead end and you couldn't take it any further. The only reason you're this wound up now is because it's your dad that's the boss and you feel he's let you down. IF your dad had fired either or both of them then it would get round as to why they'd been sacked, you then get this "Ooh they only got fired because they upset daddy's little princess" so instead of them being the bad guys you just cost them their jobs so then it's YOUR fault (that's not how it is I know but it's probs how it would be seen by the other employees)
One of them has said sorry - it takes b alls to admit you were in the wrong to someone and then apologise, so give the lass her due credit. The other one defends what she said about you, well, that's fine too, not everyone is going to like you and I'm sure your dad is aware that you will encounter people in life who don't want to be your bestest buddy.
You really need to learn to ignore workplace tittle tattle, it's the same wherever you work, there are always a few individuals who seek to make your life a nightmare - if you let them get to you then they've won. It's your dad's company and you've got to let him run it how he sees fit whether you agree or not.
So there's my objective stance
Personally I think it was very unnecessary and uncalled for and if they have a grievance with you then it should have been brought up with you or they should have b*tched in the pub after office closing. You're better than that, don't let them drag you down *hugs* xxx

that's great that one apologiesed big up for her, kerrylou you have all that down to a t hunni, god if l had a pound for everyone of my colleagues who take the p iss then l would be very rich woman!!! some even think l am a total c ow because they don't get there way, but l am here to run a business!! l want to be friends with everyone, but l have to divide the professional from thr personal, so stick n stone!! it doesn't get the work done but at least it gets it out thier systems for a while, easy forgotten when THEY want something!!!!!!! lift your head hunni, and close that door, let it all pass! dad's are just dad's after all he loves and adore's you, and it's clear you love and adore him, hence the tantrum, we all have them hope all your days get better xxx you have a wedding to get stressed out about now!! xx

Kerrylou - i understand where ur coming from but ive worked for the company for 2 years and i do the accounts, i only got promoted to manager as the other lass total messed the company about and everyone knew it.... she wud make mistake after mistake and every1 thort she was rubbish. I got qualified as an accountant and as she showed no interest in even wanting to study towards it, i got made manager. Its common knowledge in this company that I dont get ne special treatment. I dont call him dad at work, its all professional.
The other manager was meant to appologise to me yesterday and my dad reminded her twice that it needs to be dun and she still left without saying 1 word to me..... didnt even tell ne1 she was going.
Shes the 1 if anyone who gets preferential treatment...!!!! We're all told to come into the office in black trousers and a shirt... shes comes in with see thru tops on, summer vests, trackie bottoms, skirts, summer dresses - anything she likes basically and my dad wont pull her on it. Anyone else and we get disciplined (including me)
She gets away with doing no work during work hours, all she does is college work, shes meant to work 4 days a week here but she comes into the office 3 days a week and then spends at least 2 hours a day in the staff room having coffee with other members of staff.
I dont know what this woman has got over me dad but he will not stand up to her.....
There was an incident about a month ago at work where 1 admin girl was caught calling this manager..... she was pulled straight into the office and disciplined... she was devastated..... but turn the situation round and its her thats calling me and she doesnt get a thing.
I never wanted them to get fired, that wasnt what i after.... I just wanted her to be treat the same way like everyone else does when theyre caught going against company rules (ie disrepespecting another member of staff) everyone else gets disciplined for it, why not her?
The whole thing just frustrates me!
I cant see why she gets treated like shes the boss of this company when its me dad!
After that lass had been caught calling her, the manager even got her (massive) hubbie to come in and threaten her saying if she did it again he would deal with her.... And again nothing was done about this manager.
She gets away with everything!!!!!!

I had a proper word with my dad last night before we left work and i just said that its not on how shes sooo disrespectful towards me and now him that even wen he tells her she has to do something (ie appologise to me) she just doesnt do it.
TBH i got no joy from him he was just like "its my decision"
Which yes it is but how do u justify punishin someone else in the same situation but not when shes the one whos in the wrong?

I now see where the frustration is coming from Nicola :( She sounds like a real demon!
Could you have a word with your mum and get her to speak to your dad about it, but in a way where it doesn't look like you've been running to tell her sob stories? For some reason she has this power over your dad, not sure what that is but I doubt the rather large hubby who comes in throwing his weight around helps matters much. Maybe your mum could point out how she is allowed to get away without doing any work, that she only comes in when she feels like it and that she blatantly flaunts the rules of the company and it's really unfair on the other employees and something needs to be done about her. Either that or get everyone together (except her obv) go for a 'lunch meeting' to decide what course of action you're all going to take and then all of you go to your dad and refuse to work until he deals with her.
Or like lala said - find another job *hugs* xxx

This manager hasnt even turned up today so im blaintly not going to get this "appology"
Asked bossdad how come shes only done 1 day this week and he went "shes working the weekend" but that only makes 3 days and she was meant to make up 1 day from last week so now shes 2 days behind? yeah that seems fair!!!
I told my dad that im not happy at all and whatever hold shes got on him he best shake it and treat her like he does us or im out of here! He just kinda laughed it off but i said im being serious dad, its preferential treatment and its not on!

sounds like you defo need a new job working for a family business if really hard which is why i have only worked for mine on a temp basis. everyone thinks because your the bosses kid you are treated differently when in my case it was always that i got put down harder because i had to set an example. really annoying hope your dad starts taking you seriously.

So anyways over the weekend i had it out with my dad and basically told him that everyone thinks this manager has him under her thumb and hes just sat there n listened. I told him i want something properly done about the amount of time that she spends doing her college work during work hours cos thats not fair on the rest of us who do our college work at night time!
With regards to her calling me he told her twice on thurs to appologise and he said that now not only has she disrespected me, shes not disrespected him as he told her to do something and shes went against it... so she will be spoken too!
But once again she hasnt showed up to work today!!!

Manager turned up to work today No appology I only got her trying to justiy what she'd said! Apparently she was sayin well no1 had a clue, i replied with "but u said only me" Honestly all she did was try to get out of saying sorry So shes got away with not appologising to me for 6 days and then actually NOT APPOLOGISING!!!!!
