I'm glad to hear you are taking finding a DJ for your reception seriously.
Yes, I did find the humour in your post, hence my 'lol' and a smiley face.
As for other DJ's and what they post, I can't really comment.
Scott. :)
Hi Stacey M,
I am more than happy to link you to a Mobile Disco Forum I regularly use if you would like? It's no secret :)

I dont really get much choice on a DJ, he's the "resident DJ" and he comes with the venue as part of my package lol
but i do hear he is good and sure he wouldnt be resident dj if he wasnt reliable lol

Aw Stacey, nah no more than I'd expect them to really :) I bet they see a lot of crap in their line of work.. It's mainly playing music for drunk people to dance to!
But it's funny to read..
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
Wow, so NOT all DJs think the same way?! Cos we brides are of one mind, all of us clamouring to pay our neighbour £100 to press play on an iPod..
<sigh>
CommentAuthorVintageChic
lmao DP i'd rather hit the play button myself for free

Sorry, my sarcasm switch flipped there for a second.
I don't mean to be rude! I'm willing to spend a decent amount on a DJ who knows his stuff and enjoys his work. I'm having difficulties finding one though, to be honest. You all seem to be quite jaded with it all!
CommentAuthorVintageChic
I think with any proffession it can get a bit mundane though same thing day in day out, i mean to be honest when it comes to weddings 9/10 couples probably ask for the same "first dance songs" and cheesy pop numbers. lol
I thoroughly enjoy my work, if I didn't I wouldn't do it. To see everyone dancing and enjoying themselves gives me a real 'Buzz' and only when I lose that 'Buzz' will I stop DJ'ing :-)
If you have an idea in mind of what you are looking for in a DJ, where you live etc, maybe I could suggest a couple of reputable companies who I know?
Scott.

That's part of my problem, I don't live in the area I'm getting married in. I'm getting married in Yorkshire, near Goole.
And I'm one of those fussy punters you all like to complain about - y'know, the ones that like music..
I'm more than acutely aware that a DJ's priority is to get people dancing, but I'd like someone that can understand my taste in music. Otherwise they're just nodding and smiling until they can play Westlife (:P) or Britney Spears..

I'm into my indie-rock (although I hate genres in general) and t'other half is a metaller, with a penchant for 80's glam and cheese!
I'm just looking for someone on my wavelength, really.
No Problem and my offer still stands. - If you'd like me to try and get you some details of some possible companies, I'll see what I can do.
Scott.

Ha, well I doubt any of em will want to talk to me once you tell them how difficult I am!
But it's only because I care, as my dear old mum would say..
Please do Scott :)

Hi scott , i am thiking of putting a card in with invites where guest can write down 3 songs that they would like played ...i will them compile this into a list to give the DJ would this be a help ?
hi scott, our dj will be playing for 5 hours. how many songs on average would you play in that time? i know that sounds like a really stupid question but i want to give a list of songs but obviously dont want to give too many. also, how many dancy type songs are normally played in comparison to the slow dance?
An 'average' song last for about 3:30mins, which is about 18 per hour, so in total, the DJ will probably play about 90 songs.
As for "Dancey type songs" - Do you mean slow dances? If so, that is up to you. After the 1st dance, you could choose to have a Father/Daughter dance and even a Mother/Son dance.
At the end of the night, you could just have one slow song to finish the night, or you could choose a few, it should be totally up to you and any DJ worth his money will allow you to choose.
I hope this helps,
Regards,
Scott.

Hi Scott,
I'm getting married at Bosworth hall and the room we have is rather small. I was wondering how much space you would need to set up etc and how much time you need to set up when the room is upstairs. I think we only have an hour turn around from the meal to the evening do as we are having a late afternoon wedding.
I'm not sure whether I am allowed to reply to that on here (Mods/Admins??). Would it be possible to send and email to: [email protected] and I will send you my reply to your questions.
I have the details of a DJ who covers Peterborough. His name is Alan and his Company is called Black Tie DJ.
If I can get the details of a couple more (trused) DJ's I will post them here for you.
Hope this Helps.
Regards,
Scott.
