I think i have decided on our hymns (ill check with my MR when he gets in from his night shift,) But im thinking " One more step along the world i go. And alsoBind us together lord.
I know alot of hymns remind me of being at school so i wanted something that didn't relate to anything like that. Just a bit different.

What did you all have or are you having,???

I love Bind us Together! So love it. Prob is H2B doesn't know it ..................how can you not know that one? Perfect for a wedding too :D

Don't know what else to have.

We wanted Shine Jesus Shine but not sure priest is keen as he said unless everyone sings it'll sound rubbish. His advice was to choose well known ones that everyone can sing ............... :S

Will get my sister and bestmate to help with this too I think.

    xx

I found a lot of these websites but some hymns I don't think are sung in a Catholic church. So I need to pick ones sung in both.

We had 'Faithful One, so Unchanging', 'Lord I Come To You (The Power of Your Love)' and 'Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer' - the first two as I love the lyrics and melodies (both are about 20-30 years old) and the last one because hubby is from Wales!

Just in case all our guests didn't know the hymns we also had an adult choir in the balcony singing along to give them a boost :-)

I also love Make me a Channel of your Peace - beautiful!

Guide Me O thou Great Redeemer is a good one, everyone should know that.

I also love (as does my best mate) Father In My Life I See - prob is H2B doesn't know it.

I want a choir too but can't really afford one :(

Our choir was only 5 adults, and 100 to have them so only 20 each - you could ask your church what their choir rate is, and you may not need the whole group if there's a lot of them, which might help with costs :-)

Don't want amazing grace, although a beautiful song my Mr lost his first wife when they were only 28. And he had bagpipes at her funeral playing amazing grace. But it is a lovely song.
I have also looked on the your church wedding site and there are some ideas on their just wondered what you had a decided on. X

Good idea, will have to speak with priest again, think I'm going to wind the poor man up with all my questions, I want an organist who can also play piano but apparently their two don't play piano ............I thought all organists could play piano, just not the other way around :S

Hmm you'd think they could play both as they're both very similar instruments! I went in to meet the organist as my first 2 hymns I'd only ever heard with piano, he offered to play them on the piano but would have meant him running downstairs to the front for the first 2 hymns then back up to the balcony for the background music and final hymn - thankfully he played all of them on the organ for me to hear and they sounded lovely so we just stuck to the organ! :-)

My sister and I are both classically trained pianists and both love Bach's Prelude in C on the piano (pretty much similar to Ave Maria) and really want that as my processional as I walk up the aisle but then want the organ for the rest of the ceremony.

Would love a choir to sing Jesu Joy when signing the register.

H2B and I love shine jesus shine, reminds me of school. Does everyone know it?

Priest said we should choose hymn everyone knows and are easy to sing so that everyone joins in, he said to pick ones that tend to be on song of praise as people will then know the hymns, I didn't have the heart to tell him that noone watches songs of praise! Well noone that we know anyway :S

We're having 'Guide me O thou great redeemer', 'I vow to thee my country' and 'All things bright and beautiful'. The first 2 as we're massive rugby fans and the last as it was my nan's favourite hymn
