hi me and h2b r getting married 26th may 2012 and we are having a church wedding
in order to keep costs down we have decided against having the organist so therfore we wont be having hymms
i was wondering what to have instead i have thought of having readings instead and my family like that idea
let me know what you think

You can have hymns without an organist. Just make sure you pick ones that people know like all things bright and beautiful, amazing grace or something like that to help them out.

The CofE's website will tell you that you have to have at least one hymn at the wedding - but our vicar told us that if we didn't want hymns we didn't have to have them, so I think it depends on the vicar - ours is pretty liberal :) He did insist on at least one reading from scripture though, which isn't a problem since we were planning on two :P And we're also having a hymn anyway lol

You can get hymns on cd... could you not have them playing and the congregation sing along? xx

Yeah you could get a cd. Or even just the background music and then have a friend or two(who can sing well) to lead the songs. That means that at least there is someone up there singing out loud so it's not all muffled people awkardly singing along lol. x
