Better to have those round you that truly care rather than just because your related by blood

Carla makes a good point. He'll probably be happier without them anyway.

I'm doing the same as your fiance, I'm only having 4 people from my family at ours.

I know it sounds sad but it is much better to only have those around who you care for, inviting people just because they're family can actually cause more grief then just cutting your losses.

How does he feel about it all? He is obviously happy enough about it if it was his decision

My mam and stepdad, sister & fiancé and most importantly my nieces won't be at ours. Except that's not my own choice so I'm the same but wrong way round. It sucks but it is what it is.

The good thing is that it's his choice and doesn't have to be upset by it. There's probably a reason for it. If he changes his mind then it's easy to add them in! Don't feel sorry for him, it's what he wants and if he's happy, you should be too :) xx

"Blood makes you a relative, loyalty makes you family" - saw this today funnily enough and its so true. Most of my family won't be at mine as I very rarely speak to them. The only important thing is that my oh turns up!! :-)

I agree, better to be with ppl that care about being there and know your relationship well... We have lots of h2bs family there whereas aunties and uncles on my mums side are evening only just because I rarely see them x

Your friends are also family too and both your happiness is whats most important. Sit down and go through everyone on his side and invite only the ones that bother to make an effort. I hope your day is happy for both of you
