Wedding Forum - How/where did ur h2b propose?......or did...

My OH proposed last year 8/10/14

We were on a short break to London for a few days and it was just before my birthday to, we arrived late afternoon and were out for a meal before the show we were going to see and then next day sight seeing, again another lovely meal at night, last full day we went shopping and again another lovely meal out.

We made our way back to the hotel and knew we had an early start as was our last day in London before flying home, so we were back about 11pm and cuddled up to watch tv, we had got to talking about getting married his topic and we had spoken about it on and off for a few months anyways so I was none the wiser, he said to me when I propose do I need to make a big statement and get down on one knee, me still oblivious where he was going with it, I said no of course not every proposal is personal to a couple and I just want to marry you so I don't need a down on one knee proposal, I was still cosied in to him at this point and he said so will you say yes to being stuck with me for the rest of your life and when I turned round he had my beautiful ring in his hand, I was so shocked I just burst into tears and said yes of course I will! He put the ring on my finger and I was still crying! I was so overwhelmed I hardly slept and kept checking it was still there and was real and not a dream.

I couldn't of asked for a better way for him to ask as he isn't one for making a scene and is quiet shy when it comes to confrontation so I was really happy it was just us two.

I also asked the day after if he told anyone he was going to propose and he said no I never because I wanted you to be the first to know I was asking you to be my wife! That started me off again.

When we got back to the airport to fly home he also told me on route to London he was terrified his hand luggage would get opened and his surprise proposal would be ruined lol but luckily they never had any reason to open his case xx

My h2b was insistent that we should go out for a meal xmas eve 2014, I wasn't overly impressed by this idea as I was cooking for 12 xmas day and had a million things to do, but as he went to the effort of getting a babysitter and booking a table (things he normally leaves to me to sort) I agreed to go. Just after we got to the restaurant a friend messaged him to ask if we were joining them in town later and h2b and I agreed that we would go out for one drink after the meal to wish everyone a merry xmas and aim to be home by 11pm. After having a drink in the bar the waitress came to take us to our table asking which one we would prefer (there was only one other table in at the time), h2b asked for the table in the corner and the waitress laughed and said "why your not proposing are you?" to which h2b just gave her a dirty look (I assumed this was because he knew how much I wanted to get married but he's very anti marriage).
We had a lovely meal after which we went back to the bar area, h2b started nagging me to drink up, I kept telling him there's no rush, no-one would be out for another hour and I didn't want to have a hang over the next day. When I reached the bottom of my glass I found the ring (god knows how I didn't notice it before!!) The next few seconds are a bit of a blur, I think h2b got on one knee but he definitely asked the right words and of course I said yes!!!
After another drink (and h2b suggesting to the waitress that in future she'd be better off not asking if a man is about to propose when his gf is present as she could have ruined the whole surprise) we headed in to town, my best friend (and now MOH) was also out and with a reason to celebrate we ended up drinking more than we should, staying out later than we should and spending xmas day feeling rough as rats lol, but it was worth it.

OH and I had been out for the day with our LO. Came home and he said I need to nip to pick something up from your mum and dad's so off he went whilst I prepared tea and gave LO his milk. He text while he was out and said can I give you your birthday present tonight I said no I've only hot to wait 3 days and I can have it then so that was that. He then came home and said he needed to go and see his mum and dad so he went again...I was fuming by this point as tea was ready in the oven and was starving lol
He came back and I started to dish tea up when he handed me a next bag and said happy birthday....it was a black jumper. I didn't want to sound ungrateful so said ooooh that's nice thank you, looked up and OH is down on one knee in our kitchen. I burst in to tears whilst trying to say yes lol. I didn't have a clue he was planning anything.
The reason why he went to my mum and dad's was to ask their permission, he'd gone to his mum and dad's as they had the ring hidden at their house and the black jumper my OH had borrowed off my sister lol

My OH proposed to me August Bank Holiday Sunday 2013. We were at my best friends wedding in Monaco!
The day after her wedding he took me to a casino (THE casino in Monte Carlo- The james bond one) where we had dinner on the balcony overlooking the harbour and the race track. He proposed after dinner.

He'd been planning it since about February, and I threw a spanner in the works Twice, He wanted to take me to Rome to do it, but My sister booked me and her a weekend to Rome in the April, so he changed his mind. Then he was going to take me to Venice instead in the September. But my best friend announced and arranged her wedding in 6 weeks!!!!!
I wanted to go, so he had a word with her telling her his plans, and asked if she'd mind him doing it while we were there, she was ex tactic and told me after she was avoiding me as she wasn't sure she'd be to contain her excitement and give it away to me.

My partner and I have been together for 15 years since I was 17. Our 15 year anniversary was oct 2014 and we were planning on going away but my dad had to have a hip op- which incidentally got cancelled as he had an allergic reaction on the operating table.

Anyway for Xmas my oh bought my a weekend in Venice at Easter .

All the girls in the office were saying he would propose - I was like, well he hasn't for 15 years so why would he now?

So on easter Sunday, after a long day of walking round, marvelling the beautiful city, I suggested we had a coffee on the hotel balcony which over looked the grand canal. It was just me and him, sat quietly watching the world go by. He suddently rummaged in his rucksack and gave me an Easter bunny Tin and said happy Easter. I was like, I haven't bought you anything. So I opened the tin and looked at the eggs and said, aww that's sweet, then saw a bit of tissue paper. As I unwrapped the tissue paper he was already down on 1 knee. It was such a stunning ring, fitted perfectly and more than I ever imagined. Before we left he even rung my dad to ask his permission. ( dad lives in Scotland and we on Sutton)

Needless to say I rung dad straight away and he was bursting with joy and had already told half the neighbours as couldn't keep it a secret

In the evening we found a lovely little restaurant full of locals and treated us to a slap up 3 course meal with prosecco

It was such a perfect proposal and shows he just a romantic at heart :-)

Everyone has such a romantic proposal, its so lovely to hear about the stories.

I asked my other half on valentines day last year at home as I'm a really shy person, I ended up crying because I was so happy, nervous and shy all at the same time. After he said yes though I calmed down as I realized that there was no need to get nervous. I went to get myself a ring the next day and he paid me back when he could as he had not got enough money when I went to go get the ring.

I was rushing round getting ready to go out when OH kept telling me to come and play with the puppy. I swore at him and told him I didn't have time (oops) when I gave in and went to stroke the dog, my ring was tied to her collar and he was on one knee next to her.

I am a hard one to surprise and keep secrets from so OH did well as I didn't have a clue. I had organised for us to go away for OH birthday booked the hotel, meal etc. When we got to the hotel they said they had double booked our room and that they would give us a free up grade to a suite instead (OH had arranged this) when we got in the room there was swan towels, rose petals etc. I went to the bathroom and when I came out OH was on one knee with my ring in his hand, then he asked me to marry him. I was so shocked and over the moon. Then a guy from the hotel brought a bottle of my fav champagne which OH had organised.

We went out that night to the restaurant I had organised for OH's birthday and on the table was a huge bouquet of flowers and more champagne. OH had spoken to my dad a few weeks earlier to get his permission, I am an only child and my mum died when I was little so it was really important to me that he did that. It was perfect :) x

Whilst I was 2 months pregnant, my partner was downstairs in my mom's living room on his own I thought he was in a mood but it turned out how he was going to propose. Anyways he asked me to go downstairs because he said we wanted to talk to me so I went downstairs. When we was downstairs there was about 20-30 minutes of silence and being my hormones were all over the place I went upstairs in a mood. 15 mins minutes later I went back downstairs, I apologise for being moody then all I knew he went on one knee whilst showing me the ring and he said 'will I...' then that's it I said yes straight away. Well that was the firt time anyways then he proposed to me again for the second time after we had an argument about an month after our son was born. All he said was 'will i marry him'. I didn't mind how he said it but because I'm a sucker for romantic films, I've always dreamt if I was ever to be proposed to that it would be romantic like you see in films but I don't care because at the end of the day I'm planning to get married to the love of my life so all the little things like that doesn't matter. All that matters to me is my partner, our son and all my family and friends.

We decided to get engaged rather than me having a proposal initially however I did get a 'second' proposal that was special.
We were on holiday and deciding what we would like to do and see. OH made a list and gave it to me with 'Get married' at the end with a tick box Yes or No. I said we should get engaged and that was that. Later on we went to the Grand Canyon and as we were walking away, OH said 'Steph' (and I turned around (I was in front) and he was thereon one knee with a toy ring he'd got from one of those kiddie machines.
I'd already bought a cheap ring to wear from a shop so the in joke between us now is that I have 3 rings!

I'm quite happy that OH chose my ring, the boy did good - couldn't have chosen better myself- I'm a luckily girl!

I knew my OH was going to propose I just didn't know where or when. So he told me we were going out and I should get dressed up and be ready for 11am then OH says he needs to pop out to check the pressure of the tyres on the car. Then next thing I know the door bell rings frantically so pop downstairs open the door and there is an envelope with LED candles around, I instantly think WTF and freak out a bit but pick it up and it turns out it is a clue and then next one is at the pub. (I was hating my OH at this point cause I'm all dressed up and he is sending me to the pub) so get there and there is another clue that says to go to the doctors so head over and OH best friend is there waiting with another clue which asks me to go to the place I first met OH so off we go to Stoke from Derby. Get to the place we met and there is another clue which is the place we first kissed which was the train station so off we pop pick up another clue which is 'to go to the home of football where I converted you' so I am now dreading going to the Britannia stadium and really want to kill him because I really didn't know what was happening. We arrive and I find the next clue which is to go to Trentham Gardens (graduated there) back in the car we get and park up at Trentham. Best friend disappears to the toilet and I am like lets gets this over with cause I was really freaking out at this point. So we walk through the gardens and as we make our way to the top I see a canvas that say a promise must never be broken, I nearly walked passed it thinking it was part of the garden but then spotted best friend girlfriend and thought WTF again. But then the best thing in the world happened OH walked out from the secret garden, in a suit with a book and the ring in his hand, got down on one knee asked me would I make him the happiest man alive and marry him, he even used my full name. But when he came out the door I laughed a little and was like what is going on and when I finally realised I started crying. Of course I said yes and to top it off Best friend had recorded the whole thing and made a nice video for us.
Sorry its a long one, it was a long day :)

H2B surprised me with a trip to Rome for my brithday. We went to the trevi fountain (my fave place) closed our eyes to through a coin in and make a wish and when i opened he was on one knee with the ring in his hand!! Was beautiful as it was night time so the fountain was all lit up :) xx

My fiancée proposed on our trip to New York in May last year. It was a life long dream to go and it was perfect. So my fiancée always told me she wasn't really bothered about getting married so when we were in NYC she kept saying "let's look at some jewellery" & I kept saying "what's the point, you're never going to buy me anything I really want". So she felt a bit disappointed, then eventually when walking past a jewellers in the Rockafella centre she saw a ring and begged me to try it on, so I did but it didn't look right, so we left. Then when I was in a shop trying on some clothes she said she was going to run back to a shop to get something.

Then on our last day we went for a walk in Central Park and got to the fountain (the one that looks like it's in the beginning sequence of Friends, and since I love the programme, she thought it was perfect) there was a harpist playing and she was really rambling telling me how much she loved me and what I meant to her and then she got on one knee and asked me to marry her! I was so shocked I cried, and of course I said YES! She revealed that while I had tried on the ring in the Rockafella centre she'd seen another one and while I was shopping she went back to get it! It was amazing!

Then when we got back the the hotel we face-timed our family and said we'd got engaged at the fountain in the opening sequence of Friends, then a woman came up to us and said "sorry for eavesdropping, but the fountain in Friends doesn't actually exist, I thought you'd want to know" and walked off! I was like "well thanks for totally ruining my memory"!!

But her proposal couldn't have been more perfect and I cannot wait to become Mrs Sideras-James!

I got engaged 20th August this year, at 7AM in the morning! haha

I must say first, he isnt romantic atall, so this is a shocker :)

I had predicted it was coming, i had already waited 7 years for a ring, but he showed me a text message a colleague of his won a balloon ride and couldnt go so asked if we wanted to go. (He knew this was on my bucket list)
Then in the car one day he mentioned it was just us in the balloon with the pilot
I was thinking (as weather dependant) if it doesnt happen why couldnt they (the original text) reschedule
So, i got my nails done haha and prayed for good weather.

Was due to go up at 6am,and we slept through our alarm, my grandad called me at 5:20 wishing us a nice time so safe to say we slung on clothes and was out the door within 10 minutes, and i sped haha luckily before 6am, there was no traffic.

Anyway we went up and after a while he admitted he booked the balloon ride and got down on one knee. (in a very small basket haha)

On the way back to the car, my mum, stepdad and our friends were there to greet us, and us and our friends went for a posh breakfast.

Was the best morning ever (& i hate mornings haha)

me and my mr wasn't together long before getting engaged, we got together in September 2014, then in Jan 2015 i was admitted to hospital because of a brain condition I had, the day i got admitted he ordered my ring and got it delivered to his house. The same day it got delivered was the day I got discharged from hospital, that night he stayed round my house, after I put my son to bed i got up to grab something, turned round to sit back down and he was down on one knee. I dont remember what he said which upsets me.

we was supposed to get married this year, but because of unforeseen circumstances we had to postpone.

Now we have found the perfect venue and are getting Married in 2019.

Can't wait to wed my perfect man :)
