Wedding Forum - How/where did ur h2b propose?......or did...

nadia your story is so sweet! amsterdam is our special place, and we were debating getting married there but decided to do it here instead. I didn't get a proper proposal! I don't even really know what happened, ever since we got together we've said that we know each other was 'the one' and have always said we'd get married and just one day we kinda decided to start making plans haha. I still don't have my ring yet though, getting it made specially (tiny fingers) but the jewellers messed up an did the wrong size, so got another 8 week wait now grrrrrrrrr, but i think once the ring finally arrives he will do an official proposal and we'll announce it to friends & fam x

My fiance proposed on Christmas day 2011, it was the first christmas we'd spent together in the 3 yrs we had been dating.
He made me a special xmas breakfast, and we sat in our pj's drinking hot chocolate whilst we opened the small presents in our xmas stockings.
My ring was wrapped up in it's little box at the bottom of my stocking :-) it was so sweet. Unfortunately, the ring was three sizes too big (the default size of the ring) and it took 6 weeks to adjust it to my size.
But the ring he chose is perfect :)

My H2B asked my Dad's permission first and then organised a surprised birthday party for me. After I'd gotten over the lovely shock of the party (and wondered why he was nervous most of the night!) he got on the mic to thank everyone for their help with the party and said he had one last present for me (I thought it was a puppy because we'd been to the dog shelter the day before... oops!) then he got down on one knee and asked me in front of all our family and friends! Not at all what I was expecting at all but amazing all the same :) x

Mine took me away for a fun/romantic long weekend on the Isle of Wight then proposed on the ferry on the way back :-)

My H2B proposed the day after our 7th Anniversary. I had no idea he was going to propose and to be honest, never thought he would propose!

I spent the whole week being spoilt!!

Exactly a week before our Anniversary its my birthday so was spoint with presents for that and he told me that the day after our Anniversary, we were going to see Michael McIntyre which I was very excited about!

Our actual anniversary, I got a card and tickets for Harry Potter Studios. Again I was very excited lol. Me being me then started sulking that it didnt feel like our anniversary compared to previous years etc so we went out for a spot of dinner ... (how bad do I feel now!!!)

The next day, he picked me up from work and we got the train to London and he told me we were going somewhere first (I dont know London at all so had no idea where we headed to lol) we got off and then told me to look ahead of me and saw the London Eye. I had never been on it so was quite excited. We then went into booking office and H2B just kind of told me to stand in a corner and wait for him lol. H2B then comes back and says we will be boarding soon but had to wait where we were. I then said that I thought we queued outside to board and he ignored that comment. We were then led outside following one of the guides who had a suitcase on wheels with her and went into our pod which was called cupids pod and was just for the 2 of us. I was still cluless about it all as we had been together for so long and the guide even asked if it was a special occassion and H2B said it was recently my birthday and our anniversary. When we were at the top, he got down on one knee and then guide had Champers and Champers truffles in her suitcase so we had some of that too.

When we were off the eye I said that I wanted to call my best friends and H2B told me that he thought I should phone a certain friend first as she knew all about it and helped him every now and again! This particular friend, and my H2B between them cannot keep a secret (usually!) so was shocked with this detail especially as it had been planned from April and we got engaged in September lol!

on holiday in majorca in june with our 2 children, we went for a sunset cliff walk and was taking pictures above the sea. my 5 year old son was taking pics of me and my oh when he dropped to one knee and proposed! so shocked he managed to keep it a secret and smuggle the ring abroad! wece been together 10 years soo happy were finally going to be married id given up years ago haha. also so so lucky my 5 year old managed to picture the moment which you can see in my profile pic :)

I got engaged on 6th July of this year which is my mates birthday and I was expecting to be out on the town for that but she swapped days for the night before . H2B asked for a date night which wasn't strange as we like to have those and go for meal and into town or film .

He took me to a restaurant in the marina area of where we live which due to the fab weather we have had you would swear we were in Spain ! While we were awaiting our seats there was a piano player playing and singing so everything was so relaxed , we got lead to our seats and had the most lovely meal . Now before I go any further my H2B is diabetic .

We were meant to go to Ikea the next day as we are doing house up and suddenly H2B began saying we couldn't go due to petrol and basically just making no sense he also was very nervous and holding my hand yet shaking at the same time so I was worried he was having a diabetic hypo or something lol He began saying how he loved me and how special I am and how I have changed his life and how he can't wait for our future together and that the real reason we couldn't go to Ikea is hopefully we will be going to see family to tell them good news as he loves and me and wants me to be his wife and would I marry him ? Of course I would !!!

He had told me while I met other mates during the week he had met my dad to get his blessing and that morning he had visited my mums grave to talk and tell her what he was planning , even though I had already said yes that made me love him more .

What I hadn't noticed either was he put a bottle of champagne in fridge for drinks when we got home ...... I opened fridge before we left and didn't notice it right in front of me which at the time H2B said he just stopped in horror that I opened fridge and not seen it lol Luckily for him I can be ditzy

Well our story is not romantic and i was quite embarrassed lol! it was just over 6 years ago on my birthday we had all gone out for a few drinks and was fancy dress, any way we ended up in a big nightclub, my H2b Mike had vanished and i couldnt find him anywhere and was starting to worry, i must say that mike was dressed up as batman lol and i was the devil haha. Suddenly eveything went quiet and there mike was with a microphone asking me to marry him in front of 100s of people. I will def not ever forget it hahaha, of course i said yes and then we celebrated with 100s of strangers. (the amount of free drinks we got was awesome lol) xx

I had been saving for ages in one of those money pots that you smash to get the money out.
When i eventually smashed it there was a little collection of notes which had all the things he loved about me and then the last one said "will you marry me?"
I was so shocked!! Needless to say the money lay on the floor for the rest of the day while we went to pick a ring!!

We had got engaged on 2nd May this year. We had gone to Disneyland as a huge family. Mum, Dad, Bro, Cousins, Aunty, his sister in law and nieces there was around 16 of us.

I had no idea what was coming, we were watching the Disney Dreams Parade (if you like Disney watch it on youtoob its great).

It was freezing and I was stood infront of BF and my best friend mum dad on my left and my cousin and her Fiance on my right, all watching the show. He was telling me he loved me through-out the show and I was like 'sssshh im watching the show'! (im a massive disnehy fanatic. Me and my best friend were singing along and then the tangled song came on and we had a cuddle and then theres a part where Cinderella dances with Prince charming and he asked me to marry him and I was like 'Yeah Ok' really blasé and he asked me for my hand and I gave him my right hand because I didn't believe him lol. He said no the other hand and I gave him my left without tearing my eyes away from the castle (the show is on the Disney castle) and he put the ring on and I was stunned and shocked and then cried for 10 minutes and then struggled to walk back to the hotel because I forgot how to walk!

I then also found out that while we were at St Pancras, H2B had asked my dad's permission and he apparently welled up!

Well I got the 'official' proposal on our anniversary - we went for a lovely walk along the canal and stopped off at a pub where we had lunch and he asked me :-) bless him. He confessed that he had wanted to take me to the cinema and have it displayed on the screen. Kind of glad he didnt lol!

Well me and my h2b had plans to go to Brean for the afternoon and to have something to eat. In the morning I had to pop into Bristol town. Whilst we were in one shop h2b said he needed to pop to another shop and said it would be quicker if he went to get what he needed and then met up with me once we were both done. I agreed.

When meeting back with him he had bought as far as I was aware just a watch (he got the ring too)

We then drove to Brean (Whilst on our way h2b text my dad it was all kind of last minute) When we got there I pulled up In the car park to the pub and h2b said he wasn't hungry yet and suggested that we go to brean down right at the end of brean and then up 1000's of steps (may be a slight exaggeration but there are loads) As we got to the top I moaned the whole way up I may add we sat down and then as I got up to walk back down after a while he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Brean is a place that we go to quite often and our first time away together was camping in Brean so it has meaning. <3 I obviously said yes! :)

We had been at an all day festival where H2B's band was playing. he had originally wanted to do it while they were playing by going on the mic and shouting me up but when he saw how much people were there he knew for a fact I'd be mortified and wouldn't come up, so he waited until after they had played and it had quietened down and it was just the two of us.

I was telling him how my friend had been ring shopping that day and knowing her she had probably picked a big ruby or something really different and i said "i don't think i'd like a ruby..." and he dropped to one knee and said "would you like one like this?" haha! <3

My fiance proposed to me in a restaurant in Spain.

Bumping for the Newbies

We were at my step mums 65th birthday party and I knew H2B was speaking to my dad about in the near future would you give ur blessing etc etc.....

Little did I know he was asking my dad if he could ask me that night!!

My H2B isn't very good at keeping secrets but he played a blinder that night and I didn't have a clue.

Towards the end of the evening, the dancing commenced and H2B said we will have a slow dance at the end.... Miraculously, our song came on and we both jumped on the dance floor. The song came to an end and as I turned to go back to my seat, he grabbed my hand and out of the corner of my eye, I saw my dad hand him a microphone!!! A friend recorded it all and you can hear me saying 'Oh no'!! Lol

He got down on one knee in front of MY family and friends and proposed.... Of course I said yes.

Still to this day cannot believe, my dad, step mum and the DJ knew and for once he never let out the secret.....

Mine hi-jacked the anniversary plans I'd put together!! I built a romantic fort with electric candles and fairy lights and pretty red and gold material and bought picnic stuff to have an movie night in this fort.

Unbeknownst to me, my OH had already earlier that week text my dad asking him for permission in a roundabout way. He's terrible with anything emotional so could never have asked him face to face, so he just said "How do you feel about all this in-law stuff?" and my dad text back "If you're asking if you can marry my daughter, I'd be proud to have you as a son-in-law. If you're not, then f**k off." Sounds awful but he's only mucking about.

After we'd watched a movie and had some food and cuddles etc. he turned to me and said "What's your ring size?" completely out of the blue. So I told him and he then said. "I asked your dad." and I thought well, dad wouldn't know that... what you on about? He was quiet for a bit, and so was I with my heart in my chest thinking oh my god, is he... proposing?

He then said "Would you wear nan's ring?" to which I said yes, I assumed he would propose with his nan's ring if he ever did.

Another 5 minutes of painful silence and I said "Is this you proposing?" And he said "I think so." And i said "If you're asking me to marry you, the answer is absolutely yes. If you're not, you can f**k off." He then gave me the ring he'd had hidden in the fort for the last 3 hours. Lol.

Then told my I'm just like my dad. Haha. xx

My OH proposed in front of the Christmas tree in our new house together, on Christmas morning 2013 :)

He gave me all of my presents then told me to close my eyes as he had one more for me, when I opened them he was down on one knee in front of me :) I didn't know what to do so just jumped up and hugged him whilst saying yes. Although he had to ask me afterwards if I actually said yes because apparently he couldn't make out what I was saying haha! It was perfect and exactly how I would want it as I hate being the centre of attention so just the two of us was perfect! x
