My h2b woke me up at 8.30am on a Sunday and told me to dress warm and get in the car (it was novemeber 2010 when it was all snowy). He drove me to a beach in wales near a castle and we went for a walk down the snowy beach, I was stood on a piece of driftwood looking at the sea, it was such a gorgeous day with bright blue sky. I turned round and he was down on one knee in the snow with a candle! I screamed and jumped on him, couldn't stop grinning all day. He'd packed a picnic with all my favourite foods and champagne! Then we spent the day looking round the castle pretending it was ours lol It was such a perfect day with everything we love.

At the top of the Eiffel tower on a December night, after a perfect day seeing the sights. Very cheesy but romantic which is perfect for us! It was one of those surreal, perfect holidays where all life's worries melt away! The trip was paid for from a big tax rebate and spendings were helped by family giving us money as an early Christmas present, so I was totally caught off guard because although it was something we had talked about for the future, I didn't think he had the money to propose with a ring. Bless him he'd been slipping money aside for months, pretending he was being frivolous on nights out, poor guy got told off more than once!

On the 29th Feb.. We went for a normal wonder around London, something we did alot of when we first got together and a year later when we moved into the area. Then we moved to Hampshire so we haven't had a lot of chance to do it. When it got to close to sunset I guided him to the Tower of London where I sat him on a bench in front of the guest gate and I sat down next to him and asked him to marry me... he kinda new it was coming he jusst didn't know when. He had already chosen the ring which turned out he carried everywhere.. :D

I was opening all my presents and got to the little box and thought it was a pair of earrings lol, when i opened the box I was utterly gobsmacked as he had said he would never get married again. Alex surprised me with a trip to Paris on Valentines weekend 2 yrs ago. I thought we we're going to London as id never been before, so when we got off the train he lead me to London st pancris and pointed to the Eurostar board and said that was where we we're going. That night in our hotel room he asked me to marry him. i thought he was joking cause we'd joked about it before so i told him to get down on one knee and he did, pulling a ring box out of his sock so i wouldn't find it. my first words where not oh my god yes, but, oh so your not joking then lol. of course i said yes after. we then went for a meal and he had already ordered mine, during that day he had left me sight seeing while "apparently he went to look for a toilet, turned out he'd actually gone to find a restaurant that did Lobster which is my favorite and had a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us when we got there. He told me after he was meant to propose there but he couldn't wait any longer to ask me. never been so happy as the moment the love of my life asked me to become his wife :) xx

My H2B proposed to on FB whilst he was at work .. and he Fulffed his lines lol.. the Post read "will you Marry Jenny Todd" lol then the comments started rolling in .. i thought it was a joke at first so i just played along with and commented with" course i will babes, love ya loads" and all his mates where like are you serious mate ... and he said he was def serious .. i ment the world to and he wanted nothing less than for us to get married .. so i waited for him to get in from work and he asked me again and i said... but we decided not to disscuss the matter further till we got a ring ... less than a week later we purchased the ring and we went home that evening he put our song on in the background "LIGHTHOUSE, by Westlife" and got down on one knee and put the ring on my finger... so reall i got asked three times .. was lush.. :) xx

on our 4 year anniversary he woke me up after being on night shift at 5.30am!!!! down on 1 knee. only did it like that as he was then sleeping all day and back to work that night so didnt really see eachother much on our anniversary.

I was kinda expecting it but not for another couple of months, thought he was gonna do it on my birthday, but we were just chatting one evening sitting on his living room floor, looking at houses we wanted to view and he just asked me. My husband to be is painfully shy and struggles to say anything important, he always puts things off, he was going to do it on our anniversary which is in December, then on New years eve. Never happened! It was written in my Valentine's day card in the end. " Ps: Will you Marry me? :) " I rang him and asked if he was taking the p***. Very romantic by me! I didn't see him for another 10 hours or so because we where both working. Made him get down on one knee when i got home though!

Awwww these stories are lovely! Mine was on New Years Eve 2010/2011. We were at a party with our family and friends at a castle. He asked me if I would go outside quickly with him as he was hot and wanted to cool down. So I went outside infront of him onto a balcony area which had dim lighting all around it. When I turned around he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him and pulled out my ring! I was a shocked as I wasnt expecting it so took me a little time to answer but I said yes and just after he put the ring on my finger the chimes went for new year and there were fireworks going off outside so we stood watching them as my best friend ran outside crying and gave us both a huge hug, followed by the rest of our friends and family! I couldn't have asked for a better proposal :) xxxx

We been together for 7 years but i knew about my engagement ring as was my Granny's and given to my mum and she checked with me first before giving it to H2B as really old so wanted to check i liked it and luckily i do.
However he waited for 4 months with this ring before doing it and was done on a Saturday evening in January, he cooked a romantic candle lit dinner at home then got down on one knee... was perfect as our dog with us xxx

Oh god some of these stories make me so sad about how unromantic mine was - has to be the worst on here!!! I was in the bath (yes really) and we were having a random conversation about crap when I said (in context it made sense) "it's not as if we're getting married" and he just said "well, do you want to get married then?" I was like "are you kidding?" and I fell out with him for doing it when I was in the bath!!!!! He like kept saying sorry that he had planned to do it right and it just came out and I started crying and told him it was because I had ruined his dream, his wee plan, and he said "the only dream I've got is being with you forever, so will you marry me?" and that was it - sitting on the bed in jammies I might add! He says he's going to surprise me with a proper one but I've seen nothing lol!

We were on holiday for my birthday in the beauitful Cape Verde islands. He had carried the ring there in his wash bag, the only thing I wasn't allowed to pack. I had no idea, he had asked my parents at Christmas and they were waiting for him to ask me, they just had no idea where or when. He took me to a romantic stop on the resort and it was just me and him, I was totally shocked. Of course said yes, that was two years ago now and we are getting married Aug this year......so excited!! X

mine was in Starbucks. We'd had an argument the night before because all he bought for my birthday was a mug and a bar of chocolate (with price tags still on) (birthday was the day before he proposed - and it was my 50th too). I'd arrange a 'do' in town and his daughter and her b/friend had come up for the evening and they were staying overnight. By the time I'd got to bed I was having a right ol' turn. Anyhoo, in the morning he asked if he could meet me after work for coffee - I said there wasn't time as we had to be in town by 7.30... he then asked could he meet me for a coffee at lunchtime then.
Then in Starbucks he said that we'd met in a coffeeshop 8 years previous and it only seemed right to propose in a coffee shop ... made me cry too (and we were sitting in the window) AND, bonus, the ring was the right size :) :) :)

It was xmas day afternoon at my house (we dont live together) .....me and my girls and him and exchanged presents then he gave me a large present....he had hidden the ring in an old trainers box!!!!!!!!!!! As i opened the box he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him...me and the girls burst into tears and i cudnt speak(which is a first for me lol) ...dont think i answered him for about 5mins....i love my ring just the size was wrong but managed to change once the shops were open again xx

Alex proposed to me 22 December 2010. We went to Chatsworth house for the day. We went in the house, had lunch and then went for a walk in the gardens. There is a maze there and we had a race to the centre. It took ages to find the centre...when I finally got there Alex was waiting for me on one knee. It was so romantic and even started snowing when I was crying and we were having a cuddle after I said yes.

Me & W2B was at GoGo Festival June 2011... Doing a stall for our friend for gay familys and sperm donations etc so we obviously got talking. Last night we started up the bonfire got our camp chairs out.. I went into our tent to get out a can of cider out each and put her ring on top of her can over the pull tab. As i handed it to her i just slipped it out lmfao.. she cried.. i cried.. Only to find out a few hours later she had brought me the EXACT same ring and took it with her too but she was going to ask me over breakfast the next day :) Now we are getting married on our 3 year anniversary :)

My H2B asked me at my friends house warming BBQ in front of about 30 people he didn't know and even got his best man from that night too. It was very out of the blue, I had just been upstairs with one of my friends crying about family things and I come downstairs into the kitchen too get something too drink. He just looked at me then got down on one knee *sort pause* and asked me =D he didn't have a ring! He said he was going too use a ring pull because he knows how much I like them (and use them) but Shelly wouldn't let him so she borrowed him a ring. I have no idea how so many people fit into that kitchen too take photos of that moment. XX

Last year he asked my parents for permission to marry me in May, he then asked me to give him an idea on rings on our hols in July, then at my cousins wedding in August my Nanny kept going on about how she hopes to see us get married so after a few glasses of red and some smoochy dancing he asked me to go into this little room with him. I was saying no way because I thought he was after something naughty but he pulled me in, got on one knee and said the sweetest thing before asking me to be his wife forever. I was in total shock. He didn't have the ring because he'd planned to do it at new year, but with nanny going on and he said it all felt right when he was watching the newly weds and realised I'm the only woman who's made him truly happy. Love him so much.

It was xmas day 2010 and we were opening our prezzies in the morning from each other, i had a feeling he may propose only when h he gave me this big shoe box i was rather dissapointed to be honest :( opened the shoe box to find... A RING BOX! :D H2B gave this speech and then asked me to marry him, he then asked me to look in the box as i had not evan looked at the ring yet! we then took a walk over to his moms for xmas dinner in the snow together and when we got there she had happy engagement banners up in the house :) thats good for my H2B as his not the romantic sort at all, so i was chuffed!

I turned 21 on November the 8th 2010,, so as a birthday present he brought 2 west end tickets to see Oliver (brilliant) for the 10/11/10, after we went to a restaurant he was nervous because a party of like fifteen had just walked in, we ordered our meals and after the starter and the main, just before dessert he decided he was going to tell me how much he loved and that's why he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. The restaurant gave us a glass of champagne and put some music on so we could dance. I was shaking all the way back to Birmingham, couldn't stop smiling. I remember it like it was yesterday. Never forget that moment. I was amazed that my mom didn't tell me that he had already asked my dad for permission a few days before my 21st. X

It was beautiful, there were loads of sailboats out in the barber and we were sat on a bench and he pulled out a beautiful silver and mete ring... Have to say it was the best moment of my life so far xx

We went on a scuba diving holiday and on our last dive of the week, as we were coming to the end of the dive he got my attention and had written on his wrist slate 'I love you, marry me?' and when I looked up from reading it, he was attempting to bob on one knee under water in the sand, holding the ring box open with my beautiful engagement ring! I was so terrified of dropping/losing the ring in the sand or it floating away I pushed it back at him, then went to hug him which you can imagine was a dumb thing to do underwater in full on scuba equipment and ended up pulling out his mouthpiece which he recovered very quickly! We surfaced and I hugged him again feeling like I was on cloud 9 when he reminded me that I hadnt said yes yet and should he take the pushing the ring back and trying to drown him as a 'no' then hehehe.

H2B asked me to marry him on our 4 year anniversary (21 December). We had the day off together and he was acting a little odd but i thought he was just getting in the Christmas cheer. He opened a bottle of wine at 2pm and had a few glasses, after dinner he was telling me how much i meant to him etc etc he got up suddenly and fell into the Christmas tree and started to cry. We where on holiday in Cuba ... It was 2nd week in and I wanted to go for a walk on the beach to look at the sunset, we where having a drink pandering in the sea taking picks, then it started to spit so off I run to the wedding gazebo to take cover (rain lasts for like 10 mins there thank god lol) mat starts prating about slow dancing with me haha so I play along then he starts saying how he loves me, why he loves me ect and gets down on one knee, I'm like what you doing ? Lowering myself to his level lol then he askes ... Will you marry me Leah ?.. Pulls out the ring I crys he crys we go to the piano bar to celebrate. I had no clue, he had planed on doing it in the 1st week but I was too drunk :-/ he was on edge all night as he had the ring on him bless xx

I love to hear all the stories! This time last year we were heading to Paris for my birthday and everyone said he would pop the question, but he didn't and I was a little disappointed but I didn't really think about it too much. Then on Christmas day 2011, the very last present at the bottom of my sack was a big box, which I opened to find another box, which I then opened to find another box. When I got to the third box I though he was just messing around and there was something like a mince pie at the bottom!! The boxes were getting smaller and smaller, until eventually I reached the 6th box which was a small jewellery box. Still at that point I hadn't clicked, then when I opened it it was a gorgeous (yet slightly too big!) engagement ring and he was already sitting on the floor in front of me and said 'Nic will you marry me?' Took me a while to answer though the tears of joy and shaking! The best day of my life so far, with the wedding day only 49 days away, so excited!!!!

My H2B spent ages planning mine :) I've been in Christmas concerts with my church choir since I was like 7, and when we got together he started to come to watch me. He got down on one knee last year on the stage after we'd sung our songs, it was amazing as all my friends and family were there. He'd been planning it with my sister since the beginning of that year! She did well to keep such a big secret! He chose my ring for me which is stunning and it fitted :)

Read this thread but forgot to post mine.
The day before our car broke down, he reacted really strongly towards it, where as I was like, never mind we wont need it til next weekend so we'll get by. I didn't know that he'd organised our day out for the next day. So alot of stress and we finally get towed, a lift home and he sets about borrowing a car. I just let him carry on at that point.
He got up early and started making up a picnic, sorted out everything to take out. I just kept saying, its cold, its ok we could go out another day, didn't want to get any of the kids ill.
So I ask where we are going. My eldest pipes up, "you'll find out when you get there, that's what you tell us"
A bit of travelling and we arrive at Burghley House. This is one of my absolute favourite places. I love stately homes. And of course parts of Pride and Prejudice were filmed there too. So I'm super exciting we walk around the house, I'm pointing all the bits out (gorgeous place btw if you've never been) saying which scenes were filmed in which rooms etc. We stop for lunch outside, its blooming freezing so a hot chocolate is very welcomed at this point. We then visited the Garden of Surprise. Beautifully designed gardens full of water features, fountains, planters, sculptures etc some are interactive too. We go in and H2B pull my hand right near this pond, I'm thinking the stupid bloke is going to push me in, when he goes down on one knee and pulls out a ring and asks me to marry him. I said no, well I said no no no no as he was doing it. Tears in my eyes and everything. Was a surprise that's for sure. I did say yes, gave him a big kiss and hug. And he showed me the ring..... My daughters silver argos one!! He'd tried to order me one but couldn't get it in time and Burghley was the only place he would ever propose to me. So I wore the little ring on my pinkie all day. My daughter even managed to use her phone to get a picture. Little monkey knew about the whole thing.
Well it was beautiful. To have my girls with me, be in a lovely location and to know that I would actually be marrying the greatest man I've ever met.
We went shopping the weekend after to get my engagement ring.
