It was very sweet..... then he wanted me to keep it a surprise all day ( very very hard! lol) and I couldnt wear my ring all day as he wanted to make an announcement at the little party my mum and dad was throwing me for my birthday!

We were sitting in bed watching the Discovery Channel, h2b turns to me and says "Do you want to get married?" I said "Yeah" as I wasn't really listening (well I was engrossed in the mating habits of lions!!!!). So he says "ok, let's do it," then after a minute it sunk in and I started screaming. I had the biggest smile for a full week, even strangers commented on how happy I looked. After 10 years together and one gorgeous daughter I can't wait to finally be Mrs Anderson

Ours all happened while we were in Australia for a year for uni. We started talking about it end of November after our 3 year anniversary (initially on a tram coming back from a bbq on the beach). Then we went through the internet looking for designs we liked and found a jewellers to make our ring for us. Up until that point it was going so well!
The ring was supposed to arrive in time for New Years (my family were visiting so that would've been cool) but it got delayed coming from the USA to Australia. Then when it did arrive it was in the wrong metal lol! We had a huge faff with Australian/American customs to try and send it back - eventually send it off in February.
We went to the Great Barrier Reef in April for my 21st, which is when h2b wanted to propose but due to FedEx being morons it hadn't arrived before we went. Then h2b wanted to do it on our 3.5 "half-iversary" 23rd May but I had a dissertation due the next day...
So then, FINALLY, on 23rd June I got a phone call at sunset saying "come up to the roof" - very confusing because as far as I knew the door to the roof was locked! We were living on the top (29th) floor of a brand new block, right in the middle of Melbourne city. The views from our windows were fab but getting up there the 360 degree view was amazing. Turns out he'd called the building manager on his was home from work and gotten the keys to get up there!
There he was, surrounded by candles, at sunset (I LOVE candles & sunset lol) on one knee :) Perfect. Although it makes me laugh a lot cos 29 floors up it's quite windy - all his candles kept going out and he was running around trying to relight them to keep the atmosphere haha. I couldn't stop giggling while he was talking Xx

All sound lovely. Mine proposed on valentines day a few years ago, he took me to some lakes for a walk before gettin down on one knee. I didn't suspect a thing and burst into tears!!!! Everyone was in on it....!
I was involved in a proposal aswell last christmas, I had to deliver a big bunch of flowers to a young girl from her boyfriend, all he'd written on the card was ''will you marry me?''... Loved it!!!

We were on holiday in one of my fave ever places... Croyde bay in devon (I had given him a list of 3 places where he could propose... Here, Paris or New york ) and we went out for a gorgeous meal then went for a walk on the beach and sat on the sand dunes watching the sunset. It was so gorgeous! Then we went home the next day which was my bday ( and he had bought me an ipad... Very spoilt girl here!!!) and he had arranged a meal out with both sides of our families and my mum had made a cake etc.
Was the most amazing week of my life!!! Until the wedding I am sure....

Stuart proposed to me on a camping holiday in Devon, we were in a place called Hartland which had a view point over looking the sea and faced the direction of the sunset. Stuart's hobby is photography, so he said to me that we will go up and watch the sunset so he can get some good pics, which i was happy with, so we were up on the view point sat on a blanket on the grass cuddled up while he was snapping away, and just as the sun was about to set in the sea, he looked at me and said ' I love you so much, I think its about time i made you Mrs Stark '... then he got on one knee in front of me, pulled out the ring and asked me to Marry him!I cried my eyes out and said yes! it was amazing and so romantic!

I knew from day 1 I would marry Mr C but he's not one for showing affection in public! I always thought it would be me who would have to ask him, but he suprised me on my 21st! Every1 was in on the suprise, his friends kept saying to me ur gonna love ur present. I had absolutely NO idea whatsoever! My mum said it had been hard to talk to me because she knew! But all in all - honestly - he's never asked me! I just got given a jiffy bag with a box in, I opened it saw a ring put it on a finger looked at him said is it what I think it is and he responded yes! So does that mean I asked him!? ?! lol

My OH and i had been planning to get married way before he actually asked me. He asked me on our 18 month anniversary - we like to do something every month on the 25th, the day we got together, so we always have at least 1 day a month for just us. He was late home from work, hadn't had time to change or anything. After going into the kitchen and yelling for me not to come out as he was just doing something, he came in with a big bunch of lilys and an anniversary card from himself and one from our rabbit and then unborn daughter, both complete with muddy finger prints where he hadn't washed his hands first and had been holding wet flowers. He then ran upstairs, and got the ring he'd bought me for Christmas, got down on one knee, still, all muddy and asked me. And then he disappeared off again, to get the bunch of red roses he'd hidden and a "Congratulations on your Engagement" card.

We were on Easter break from university (second year for me, final year for him) and he took me away on a mini break to the four pillars hotel in Oxford. We went for lunch at a lovely pub next to the river Thames and then went for a walk along the river and he kept acting weirdly and fidgeting and stopping and starting. *Turns out he wanted to do it there next to the river but there were so many people around that he lost his nerve.* So after a while we strolled back to the hotel and were pottering around the room and I was trying to decide something to wear for the evening, turned around to ask for his opinion and there he was on one knee, ring in hand.
Now, I am THAT oblivious, that it had not occurred to me that maybe he was up to something. So I was completely shocked. I burst into tears, he thought he had done something wrong. So he asked, is that a no then? To which I replied, Don't be a fool, of course I will marry you!'. That was March 30th. Took me two days to decide I had better ring my mum rather than leaving it til we got home (cos I was gonna be going straight back to uni). Of course, again being oblivious, did not think about the fact that it was April 1st, and she thought I was having her on to begin with. Though she was very happy when she realised I was being serious.
The funniest bit about it all is that my brother being the practical joker of the family that he is, decided he WOULD April Fool my parents. His chosen Fool was to 'come out' to my parents (and in the process seemingly out do me on the big announcement front). Massive Fail - my parents just turned round and said 'well we had our suspicions but as long as you are happy, so are we.' To this day, we still aren't entirely sure whether my brother is actually straight or gay!

We were on holiday at his parents house in Sweden. We were in the garden reading and relaxing in the sun, when he said he was popping inside for something. He came out a few minutes later and said he wanted to give me something. I asked him if it was a drink, he said no, so I asked him if it was cake, he said no. I asked him if it was chocolate, he said it was better than chocolate, to which I replied that nothing is better than chocolate. He said that he'd been thinking about things and about how happy we are and how I've become such a good mum to his daughter and looked after them both. He asked me if I remembered how on his birthday he'd asked me to marry him and I said not without a ring, I said yeah, so he said well and pulled out a box, presented me with his nan's engagement ring, and asked if I would marry him. I had tears in my eyes due to the sun when I said yes. H2b said he'd wanted to propose at a romantic spot by the lake near the house, but the moment felt right then. That was 4 months ago now and still over the moon!

it was on valentines night 2007 well the morning after at half 1 in the morning we were driving home from tesco and we were having a laugh and a joke and as we were about to come off the bypass h2b said "why dont we get married when we have the money!" i almost missed the stop and drove into the roundabout! i slowed down and carried on driving asking if he was serious and he said aye why not but only when we have the money. and not to bring it back up ha ha ha
so in 2009 when the redundancies were announced on national tv i came home and explained what happened the meeting etc and he sat there. he made me a coffee as at this point i was struggling with the news. i brought up as a laugh kl when i get money we can get married. i think he must of forgot he said it cos he said nothing. so for the next 2 years i was joking about the money weddings etc and i think at one point he was getting annoyed.
so i got rushed into hospital last january with a severe kidney infection (at first it was a misdiagnosis of ectopic pregancy and to the fact they thought it was gonna pop!!) and he said when i get better we will talk about that engagement as he wasnt never so scared in his life and though i was gonna be ill after that i also had endless biopsies on thyroids and was on warfarin for dvt (it was a hellish year!!!). so i got better and we discussed it and agreed when i get my money we will start planning it as we said all along we would pay the deposits. so june this year i got made redundant and we got our ring, we had a whole big thing planned to tell people but i couldnt hold it in. 4 days later we had our venue booked and its been all go from there.
the hospital scare must of really brought it home to him and vowed never to leave ma side again!!!! 11th june engaged getting hitched 10.11.12 lol!!!!

My H2B proposed after 2 months of us being together! Valentines 2004 I was still living at home with my nan, mum and sister and he had arranged with them to 'disappear' for the evening. I was at my uncles at the time all dressed up thinking we was going out when I get a call asking me to come home. I walk in and the lights are all dimmed, candles on the table with this steak dinner and a glass of wine sitting there for me. He sits me down, we talk and eat for a while when he says his going to get dessert. Instead of dessert he walks in gets down on one knee takes my hand and proposed to me! Very emotional moment! We have been together for 8 years in December (very long engagement! not impressed lol) and are getting married in August 2012 :) x

Soon2BMrsP - we've been together 9 and engaged 4 and I'm gettin impatient now, keep trying to get him to set a date but he wont :( I think it's because "we can't afford it" but he won't sit down and talk properly to me about it! He's useless when it comes to these kind of things!! I've even resorted to planning the wedding behind his back so when he finally sits down with me I can say well it's going to cost this and this is how much we need to put away each month! I've found a dress I like too, its on the bay but some shops near me stock the make so Im hoping they have one of them in stock so I can go try it on!

Maroon 5 - Moves like Jagger was on the tv and we had a little dance in the kitchen. I said 'God we're so clumsy, how are we ever going to do a first dance?!' and he whipped the ring out and said 'If you marry me we'll find out'. After 8 years he can still surprise me! x

Mine was just perfect, I still get really emotional when I think about it. We were in holiday in Menorca and it had been quite rubbish weather but we had spent this day walking around citudella and it was just gorgeous there (its a really cute spanish town with gorgeous buildings). We stopped in this wee square with a fountain and gorgeous old street lamps and were sitting on a bench eating these gorgeous wee cakes, then I started messing about taking loads of photos and he eventually got me to sit down. He just said "what would you say if I asked you to marry me" I thought he was joking and I was like well you dont have a ring haha and he pulled out my beautiful ring and went down on one knee, I burst into tears. When I think back, I am so glad I took all those photos cos it was perfect. I love him so much!

I know what you mean babybex my OH was like we can't afford it etc but when we sat together and worked out what we needed and started viewing venues to get rough ideas for pricing he realised that you don't need thousands to be able to have the wedding of your dreams. It also helps i guess that now I've got aunts, cousins etc asking if they can give me some money to put towards it which is a major help! x

My wonderful H2B took me away to a remote hotel for a few days( always doing this kinda thing so never crossed my mind). While we have talked about getting married we both decided we would do it when we were one year together so I stopped talking about it .. Then while we were having dinner he kept asking me questions about the way i would like him to propose when he eventually does it, so there i was going on about whatever makes him happy i will be happy with when all of a sudden i was eating and he produces this red box with the most beautiful ring inside i started to choke at the shock, i cried my heart out i was that happy. I could not believe I could be so happy and with a man who is everything I have ever wanted. I could not wait to get up and tell everyone, but of course they all knew what was happening and what made the difference he spoke to my father to ask for my hand in marriage .. I am the luckiest girl in the world..

While on holiday in America, we climbed to the top of Mount Saint Helens volcano. It took 5 hours to climb to the top and we were exhausted by the time we got there. OH put his coat down and told me to sit down so it wouldn't blow away while he got the picnic out. Instead he pulled out a little box and told me I was his best friend and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me then popped the question. After a few tears, I managed to get out a 'yes'. The ring was perfect and still smile at it everytime I look at it. Later that night (6.30am UK time) we rang our parents who already knew of the engagement as OH had asked my parents permission. x

Me & my h2b had been together for 3 years and went down to Cornwall with all the family to his sisters wedding, the day after the wedding we went on to St. Ives for our first holiday together, on the last but one night, my h2b said to me and my 3 boys 'Let's go down on the beach to take some photo's of the Lighthouse & St. Ives across the bay, so we all trudged down in the pitch black onto the beach, the only light we'd got was a toy lightsaber that 1 of my son's took down with him, there I was trying to take a photograph across the bay (and getting really annoyed because it wouldn't come out), when my h2b dropped to 1 knee and said 'You know how much I love you Babe, Will you marry me' I couldn't believe it and started screaming OMG, along with all my boys, after about 2 mins of screaming obviously I said YES'. He had kept it a complete secret from every1 so we went round all the family's caravans, woke them up and told them all. It was really funny because on the way down to Cornwall the keys got locked in the car and I've never seen my h2b panic so much, I wasn't 2 worried, but obviously now I realise that the reason he was so worried was because my Engangement Ring was locked in the car aswell, but it all turned out PERFECT in the end.

my h2b proposed in crete where his dads family are. Its our fav holiday place and we are going there for our honeymoon! he proposed in this really nice cocktail bar that overlooks the ''bottomless lake'' and told me he needed to talk to me about something ...i started getting worried thinking oh great his cheated on me and he tells me now! but out came the ring and my response was of course i will! lol he stills mocks me to this day for my reply :( it wasnt really a surprise as i kinda knew he had seen my parents to ask if he could marry me but he just told me he was bored one day so went to see them for a cuppa! that was back in July last year and he didnt propose till we were on holiday in September ;)

my darling h2b proposed one morning i stayed at his and was being lazy asleep in bed as i dont sleep well at night and when i woke up he was sat beside me with this gorgeous big box and a huge smile on his face opened it and he said that im the only girl in the world for him and he wants to spend forever with me, will i marry him and opened the box, init was the most gorgeous 18 caret white gold ring with 3 diamonds in, i could believe it, he put it on my finger and i cried he cried and then txt and rang everyone to let them know. It wasn't untill like two hours later i was sat on the door step having a ciggy and he came out saying u never answered me are u gonna marry me or just want the ring. hahaha of course it was a yes but he always reminds me i made him wait hours for an answer. needless to say thats the fastest he ever got me up and out of bed hehe!
turns out that he had got up really early, snuck out gone to buy the ring and was going take me out for a meal then a walk on the hoe looking over plymouth sound but came up to the bedroom and saw me asleep and said he couldn't wait i just looked so perfect sleeping! so with bed hair and no make up and a baggy shirt on my man declared his love for me :) bless him must be love.

my h2b took me shopping in my home town the day after boxing day. We were apparently shopping for a cousin of his. After we had finished we went to my grandparents spent a bit of time with them then went to my parents where we went up to mine and my sisters old bedroom and listened to some music. After half an hour I stood up to stretch my legs and he came over and cuddled me he then pulled a ring out and asked me to marry him. It was a real shock to me as I was at uni (in my final year) at the time and really didn't expect it to happen. I was over the moon with him, I didn't even need to nag him. However now its come to planning the wedding he needs a bit of nagging and reminding that its a big day for me.

I proposed to my fiance opposite the London Eye. I booked him his first ever trip to the London Eye as well tickets to the London Aquarium. Then we went for a meal, I was so nervous so took him for a walk then we finally settle down opposite the London Eye and I gave him a card in which I asked him to marry me and he said yes :) x

My H2B took me to a luxury hotel in Kos in Aug. He planned a whole day out touring the island in a little moon buggy & that night we went to a little greek taverna on the beach to watch the sunset whilst having a beautiful meal. We then went for a walk around the hotel grounds & as we got to the little greek chapel the door was open (never is) and he asked if i wanted to look inside as for the whole holiday i had been saying i wanted to know what it looked like, & inside was all candle lit with flowers all around & a big bottle of champagne and he got down on one knee with the sun setting behind us & asked me. The hotel were so lovely they gave us a room upgrade to a private suite with private pool for the rest of the holiday & a fruit basket with wine. The same hotel is where we are going for our honeymoon as it means so much to us now. xx

I actually had two proposals. The first was 2nd December I'd just been stood up by my supposed friend for a night of clubbing and the German market. He just said come on then let's buy you a sparkley ring. Then he wrapped it up and put it under the tree. The second was Christmas eve we went out with our friends to the pub for a few drinks and karaoke. Just after midnight his name was called out, he usually sings so didn't think anything of it, then he was saying my name so i went storming up ' I'm not effing singing' then he says 'i love you, with all my heart, would you do me the honour, of becoming my wife? ' then dropped to one knee and presented the ring I thought was wrapped up under the tree.

I love telling people how Peter asked me because it still makes me laugh. Sorry long post.
We was going away for a week in a lodge that we hired and he put the ring in his bag and put it in the boot. When he went to put something else in the boot it wouldn't open he tried everything. He had to phone one of his friends who works with cars to pop the boot.
In the mean time he phones me to say that he can't open the boot, so I phone my dad asks him to borrow his car for the week so he's okay about that, so I told Peter and he's having a go at me down the phone because he is stressed because he can't get the boot open. Our friend managed to get the boot open. So he has the ring in his pocket and keeps everything else in the boot.
He comes to pick me up and we carry on with our holiday. He is in a horrible mood all the way down there so I don't talk to him. We get booked in and he even books an extra few days down there.
I cook dinner and get the table ready and puts all the candles on the table and turns the lights off. I can't see my dinner but I still don't say anything about it. So we're talking and he finished his dinner in like 10 minutes and I'm still trying to see my food and when I'm finished I get up to clear away and he tells me to SIT DOWN I need to ask you a question. Im thinking can you not ask me this while I'm washing up! But I sit down and he turns to me on one knee and asked me to marry him so I burst out laughing lol even tho we have been together for 4 years I just couldn't help it.
So I said yes of course but he said that I wasn't allowed to tell anyone until we get home. I did txt his brother as he had the ring in his save for four months lol
And then he tells me the reason why he has been horrible on the way down and it was all because he was nervous about askin me and he had to keep Checking the ring was still there.
It still makes me laugh now. Oh and we are now changing the car because of the boot as I couldn't get my bags out for a week after our holiday.

My H2b was home in Ireland for his first weekend since starting a new job in Scotland. He was doing some work for his Dad, and I was driving back home from visiting my parents in Dublin, so I called into his Dad's. He suggested we go for a walk up a hill near where we lived, which has an amazing view over several counties in Ireland. Then he took forEVER getting ready to go, and kept telling me to go on ahead and he'd drive separately to save us coming back for his car later. So I went on ahead, and when I got to the car park at the bottom of the hill I was kinda wondering what was up as I didn't expect him to be that far behind.
Anyway, he arrived and we walked right up to the top just in time for sunset (fancy that!) So I was looking out towards another mountain near to where my dad's from, which you could see in the distance, and when I turned round there he was down on one knee holding out a little wooden box.
So me, being useless in such situations, said "Wow, that's such a sweet box!" and he said "well it's for you, here you are". So I put it in my pocket, as you do...and then he said "eh, aren't you going to open it?!" so I did of course, and it was a beautiful ring, and he asked me to marry him and I just gave some retarded waffly answer cuz I didn't really know what to say, but the basic idea was Yes!
So on the way back down to the cars I asked him what took him so long getting there - turned out firstly he'd forgotten where he put the ring for safekeeping (the filing cabinet) and then while he drove over he rang my parents to ask Dad's permission, and kept running into areas of bad reception, so had to stop and reverse. Me & my H2B were in bed doing you know what when he asked proposed, before getting down on one knee whilst naked to ask me again haha

It's so nice reading all the different ways they've proposed!
Sam asked me on the beach in the Dominican at sunrise. I'm a bit disappointed that I can't really remember all the nice stuff he said - I was too shocked to take it all in! lol
