Wedding Forum - How/where did ur h2b propose?......or did...

Our wedding plans came about with me winding Mark up about getting married on the 11.11.11 at 11am.......think i was drunk at the time. I've always said i wasn't interested in getting married, but continued to wind Mark up about the above date. i.e. every text i sent began with 11.11.11 and every conversation i started began with 11.11.11..........

In the end after about a week of that, Mark sent me a text asking if I was winding him up, as if he knew my answer was going to be "yes" then he would ask me to marry him as I was his world and he loved me more than anything and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.................At that point how could i tell him i was winding him up?!

After much discussion we decided that if we were going to get married we were going to "run away" and do it so we didn't have to worry about his family being involved. We told everyone it was happening and that we were just waiting for the engagement ring to arrive.

When it did arrive, I gave it straight to Mark without looking at it (god that was hard) and he came into me whilst i was hoovering and said "as we've being mates for years, will you marry me?" I laughed and said try again, so he "said I love you, the venue is booked lets get married"

As you can tell we are not the most romantic of couples, but we love each other very much and in the 3 years we have been together we've had a lot to withstand and we have always been there for one another........wouldn't change my marky for anything and I'm looking forward to being Mrs Holt, even though I always said I didn't want to :o)

Benj asked me to marry him casually within the first 6 months of us being together - to which I said no because I thought it was too soon. Then when it came round to December (being together for nearly a year) we were sat drinking coffee in a local coffee shop when he asked me what I wanted for Christmas. When I wasn't sure, he asked me if I would like a ring, to which I said yes. After that he asked my dad on Boxing Day and we celebrated with them and went to tell the rest of the family.

When we got the ring he got down on one knee at home in the bedroom and asked me again!!

I asked my h2b... nothing at all romantic, I was far too eager to ask! I had planned on making dinner for us without the girls that evening and to do it then, but I'd had his ring all day - after having known I would do it for days in advance - and literally pounced almost as soon as he came through the door :P

Dave proposed to me in bed after I'd had a drunken argument with his friend (over text) and turned round and said "you know what, i love you, will you marry me?" I did have to double check with him in the morning that he remembered though :) xx

My propsoal was on our third anniversary. He orignially wanted us to go away for the weekend for our anniversary but was a bit skint so texted me the week before saying he had our anniversary planned - nothing tacky or involving football or xbox lol! Saturday he was up early and made a picnic up of brie and crackers, strawberries and clotted cream, chocolates and loads more - was a perfect picnic. We went up to Bodmin Moor and found a picnic area next to a river, was gorgeous setting, no one was around whatsoever. We had the picnic and was cuddled up together afterwards when he asked me to trun around and then proposed!! (Wasnt on one knee, more like two as he had damaged his ligament playing football lol) Was so perfect :) xx

Hello everyone, my h2b went down on one knee at midnight on new years eve in 2007 in the middle of a party with everyone watching :-/, unfortunately we had to put the wedding off. He then asked me again in september, we were sitting in the car just normal and he randomly said i love you babe we've got 2 kids so come on lets just get married, we both want to so lets do it. I actually found that more romantic then the first time because we were just relaxed and normal with eachother. It was just intimate and right for us xx

my h2b asked me at the trafford centre in front of the fountain. we'd gone out for lunch and he said he was gonna do it then but the service was that bad he didn't want to!

he gave me my xmas card and it said to my fiancee I moved the card so I could see him to ask him what that ment and he was on 1 knee with the ring......

My H2B took me to Paris for my Birthday March 2009, and on the day we took a trip up the Eiffel Tower, where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him......
He had already asked my Dad for his permission at christmas, but what i cant believe is that my Dad managed to keep it a secret!!!

he had been building up to it for months talking about our future saying about getting maried one day and having kids etc, then we went away to Gran Canaria with some of his friends and after a night out (he had gone with the boys i went with the girls) he came back and in front of the open doors to the balcony he got down n one knee and proposed!! it was very romantic and very sweet. His friend also proposed to his GF while we were there and all the attention was paid to them. They are no longer together, but 9 1/2 years after he propsed to me we still are! We are planning to get married summer 2013 but are now talking about bringing it forward a year!! yey xx

We were just sitting talking in our flat (had candles on in the background) and had been talking about weddings a lot cause one of my friends had become engaged a few months before. During the conversation he piped up "will you make me happy forever?" which confused me at first. Seeing my confused look he then said "that was my lame attempt at proposing". That was exactly a year ago today but when we phoned my parents my father made it clear he would like to officially be asked so last New Year's day we went to visit and my h2b asked my dad for my hand in marriage. My dad having the sense of humour he does said something along the lines of "what about the rest of her?" (oh the shame lol) anyway of course I said yes to his proposal and cannot wait to be a wifey! :D

We were in New York, just been in Vegas for a friends wedding - where I was bridesmaid - and h2b said he'd arranged a surprise for me for the Tuesday and I wasn't to book anything...so after lots of questions about what the surprise was, as he'd told me before we went over to the states, Tuesday arrived, reception phoned to say that his 'package' had arrived, so i stayed in the hotel room cleaning my teeth! Back he comes, tells me to shut my eyes and leads me over to the door...open my eyes and the door and there is my best friend who lives in Oz and who'd been travelling in the states at the same time as us!! Was the BEST surprise ever as I haven't seen her in 3 years! So we're out and about in New York and we go into a put just off Times Sq called the Pig and Whistle as my friend works in a pub back in Oz called the Pig and Whistle...so we're sat chatting and my friend tells me that she was worried that I was expecting my surprise to be a ring, and as I was sat there telling her that I didn't think we'd get engaged until next year I turned to see my h2b with a lego ring in his hand - all that was going through my head was 'where did he get that' and 'I didn't know there was a lego shop near by, I can't believe he hasn't told me, he knows how much I love lego'!! and then there he was, on one knee asking me to be his wife!! The whole pub clapped and cheered us which was lovely, and I love that he made sure my best friend was there to witness it - made it all the more special especially as she had no idea either!!
In fact the only person he'd told was my mum as he'd asked her for my hand before we went away....makes me love him even more :-D x

We were in Kenya when he proposed. It was the last night of safari we had met the masai villagers that day and saw a lion and lioness and all their cubs in the Masai mara and I kept saying this day couldn't get any better! Well we went for a lovely meal that night and we went to our room at half 11. We were sitting our private balcony overlooking the savannah and listening to all the animal noises. Sky was pitch black with loads if stars out that night! Was like a dream. Then at midnight Adrian started saying how much he loved me and can't wait to spend our lives together and getting all soppy, next min he was down on one knee with a box in his hand with the most stunning twinkling diamond asking me to marry him! I was so stunned! Thinking how he had managed to hide that in the suitcase for the past week without me finding it?! We just kissed and hugged and cried and laughed! I'd forgotten to say yes! Then as I did we saw 3 shooting stars shoot across the sky! It was so intimate and lovely! We kept it our little secret until we got home to tell everyone! And as for me saying could this day get any better?! Well it certainly did! Lol

This is our engagement story :)

It actually all started 3 and a half years ago, sitting at the dining table with his mum, dad and brother when we had been together about 6 weeks. The talk had turned to proposals as a friend was getting married. His brother explained that when he proposed it would be a Haribo ring and if she said yes then she would get a diamond. Chris (my now fiance) turned to me just as I had taken a mouthful of dinner and calmly said "Well when I propose to you it will be with a biscuit party ring, and if you say yes, then you'll get a diamond sparkly ring". I coughed and spluttered. But the seed had been planted...
There was much talk of this party biscuit over the next 2 and a half years. Eventually I was encouraged to look at sparkly rings to go with my party biscuit. A further year passed and neither a sparkly nor biscuit based ring had appeared.

Then, in July this year we were on holiday, in a beautiful hotel in Gran Canaria. I had pondered whether he would choose this holiday to propose, however when we got to the hotel he would happily let me go in and out of our room safe... Would he bring a diamond ring on holiday and NOT put it in the safe?! I thought not. Days passed in our holiday and I dismissed the notion of a proposal from my mind. On our fourth day we had a beautiful romantic meal in the restaurant, then sat and watched the "entertainment" in our hotel. After he suggested a walk on the beach, under the full moon and cloudless, starry sky. I took off my heels and we walked along the beach. He stopped and wrapped his arms around me, I was looking at the stars. He then said, "I was wondering, will you marry me?". I looked down and expected to see a party biscuit but instead saw a beautiful diamond ring glinting in the moonlight. I said yes, of course. And then made him get down on one knee and asked where my party biscuit was! Apparently they don't sell them in Gran Canaria. And apparently he was brave enough to bring a diamond ring on holiday and not put it in the safe!!

Our story is funny cuz we aren't engaged yet!!!!!

Basically I told my h2b i wanted to have a baby by the time i was 25/26 so i didn't feel like an old mum. He said he wanted to get married first so I told him we'd have to do it in 2012 or I would be leaving the baby thing later than i wanted because lets face it not everyone gets pregnant first time around!

Anyways, me being me I wanted to know where I could get married and how much everything was going to cost. It started last May before my friend got married July 2010 that I rang some venues or contacted them online for brochures etc. Where suppliers had online quotes I got rough estimates and prices for the things i wanted and put a povisional budget together.

Come December Rob said to me that he saw there was a wedding fair and that we should go for some ideas and give ourselves a bit of a clue as to what we wanted. He had seen that there were ring companies there and I guess the thought of an engagement ring was going through his head. Well as we were walking round we saw our videographer. He was showcasing a video he did at our venue. At this point I hadn't heard of Eastwood Park so I asked him where it was as it looked lovely.

Taking lots of people's details the one thing that stuck in my head was all the wonderful recommendations this venue had had by all the suppliers. I took the initiative as I had to contact the venue and just see if I could get a brochure with an understanding of what their packages cost. With more accurate quotes from suppliers etc. I determined the venue was affordable and told Rob that I really liked it could we enquire as to booking it. They only had one saturday in June left (the time we really wanted to get married) and so I put a provisional hold on it so I didn't lose it. We looked around and Rob met the wedding sales manager who is really helpful and lovely and we viewed other people's photo albums. He loved it as much as I did so we paid the deposit. So we have a wedding date I just don't have a ring on my finger yet!

He did say he would do it soon though he just wanted to surprise me with where and when and what ring. I said as long as it is before March because I am going wedding dress shopping!!! Narrows it down abit :P xxxx

He waited for the day i got back off my first deployment, took me down to the beach were we first kissed and had a picnic then got down on one knee and said "i can't promise that i won't make mistakes but i promise i'll always be there to make them" it was perfect.

me and the H2B were fighting coz he was unemployed and decided to start looking for work in aberdeen which made me think he was breaking up with me. so on Halloween at my own house part i was crying so he took to the bedroom n we were layin talkin about the future he had never talked about the future b4 so i was rally confused then he said "i want to ask you somethin i wanted to ask 4 a while but i dont have all the equipment" which confused me even more then he asked me to marry him (but didnt have a ring)


which made me cry even more :P

he then went out n told everyone at my party n someone gave him a gummy ring n he got down on one knee n gave me that ^.^
it was funny coz we were both dressed up i was snow white n he was a zombie (i spent all afternoon putting face paint on him :P)

My h2b and wanted to get engaged 3 years ago but we suddenly had an explosion of relatives getting married so we had to hold back. So I knew the proposal was coming. And when he said he was taking me for a weekend away last year (he had to tell me because I needed to book time off work), I knew he would propose. Partially because I told him that if he didn't propose that weekend and someone else beat us to it, I would drive off and leave him there (he doesn't have his license yet).

So he took me to Harwich and we stayed at a lovely hotel. He completely spoiled me- he treated me to lunch at our favourite restaurant before we left and then he took me out to a Thai restaurant in Harwich. He dragged it out all evening until we got back to the hotel. The view wasn't great, but there was a gorgeous fountain in the hotel garden, so he took me outside (in the freezing January weather) and gave a beautiful speech. Then he got down on one knee and proposed.

And even though I knew it was coming, I still burst into tears. I don't believe I actually said "yes", I just nodded. I pointed that out to him a month later and he asked me again just to hear me say "yes". He's a sap, my h2b, but I adore him.

It was on my birthday last August..we were going for something to eat b4 the cinema and he parked up in a lovely village and we walk through a field to where we were going to eat, he said oh Mum and Dad forget 2 give you your birthday card, so I opened it and it was a card with a photo of him with the line 'Kerry will you marry me?'..the world literally stood still for a couple of seconds!

Then he was down on one knee and got a ring box out of his sock (which was like a rose) and showed me the ring, I was jumping round like a loon saying I'm going to cry! which I did and he said so whats the answer..of course I said 'yes!'

Then he poped back to the car saying he would go get the ring certificate (which I thought was a lil odd at the time, but) he returned with a big box with a balloon inside with disneys princesses on and it siad on the box that we were going to Disneyland Paris for fireworks/bonfire weekend..which was magical.

I knew a proposal was coming, just wasn't expecting it then and like that. It was amazing!!

Mine is very similar to many of the ones already here! (->lovelylainee! hehe) I was reminding him that I was going to have kids by the time I was 30, so I wouldn't be too old (my original plan was 25 lol). His response was 'riiighhhtt... so, we should probably get married before that huh' to which I replied of course! Without missing a beat he replies ok, let get married!! As if that wasn't romantic enough I respond with: pfft, you can't ask me like that! He then lifted my head, stared into my eyes and asked me properly :) I then said yes and, of course, started craughing and lauying (a combination of crying and laughing for those of you who didn't know...)

Thanks lovely, it was *really* sweet- but we made something up to tell everyone else!! lol

heheheh, well girlies! we was in punta cana, domincan republic and had just got to champagne lounge ( about 7.30) he went to get 2 glasses of moet and came back.......with a ring in mine lol luved it! he even brought a straw over so i din have to wait to get to ring while drinkin champs lol! was gunna do it on beach he said but i got ready too late n it was dark!!
