Wedding Forum - How/where did ur h2b propose?......or did...

H2B told me one our first date he would marry me tomorow if he could as i was perfect PMSL. i made him wait 3 years before I ASKED him if he would like to set a date :)

H2B took me shopping (my favourite activity), he said he wanted to buy my a new dress, as we were walking past a jewellery shop he stopped me and told me to pick a ring, i was a bit confused as to what he wanted, but he got on his knee and asked me to marry him.

He proposed to me on the banks of lake michigan overlooking the bay of chicago. A wedding party were having there photographs taken and he asked me if i wanted to do that, then got down on one knee and produced the ring

I cried a lot

My fiance proposed at 3am in our living room. He'd just spent 2 months in Canada (in the army) during which I'd been quite seriosly ill and all on my own :-( I'd just picked him up from camp so we were both half asleep and very rough looking lol! He was gona wait and do it somewhere romantic but said he was so pleased to see me he couldnt wait!

Well mine isnt a super romantic down on one knee affair :( :(

We'd been together 4 and 1/2 months, it was valentines day and my mum had joked maybe I'd get a ring. We were walking my dog by the river and being open with each other I told him what she'd said expecting to have a great big laugh, then he said we should get married. Of course I thought it was all a joke then i realised he was serious. I knew I was in love so said yes. as we were only 18 and 21 people said it wouldnt last but just under a month later we'd moved in together and well 5yrs later here we are with 2kids as well lol.

Nice story about meeting him though... we worked together and I was sat talking to my best friend when he walked in i was like "oh thats him!!!" (obv i'd been gushing to her about this gorge guy at work) then i said (and best friend can verify this hehe) "I'm gonna marry him and have his babies" See I must be psychic lmao

barry's proposal wasnt that romantic - on our first night out together celebrating a friends birthday some of my other friends were winding us up asking when we were getting married and could they be bridesmaids etc when 10 mins later he said im goin for a cig as he walked off i got a text 'f**k it will you marry me' to which i ran cryin to him sayin yes lol an then one of my friends IT Man said to him propose again i want pics an used a ring i was already wearing lol , i did get a few texts the morning after asking if we really did get engaged :0) he did propose again once he had got my ring - down on one knee in my kitchen!!!

We went on holiday to rome and he had the ring and everything, my dad was driving us to the airport and at some point he asked his permission. Then we went to the trevvi fountian where he gave me a euro and told me to make a wish......
He proposed later that evening at the bottom of the spanish steps. He says that he wanted to do it at the trevvi fountain but it was too busy and he got nervous.

It was our 3 year anniversary and we were really busy looking at loads of house viewings so I called my h2b up a week before our anniversary telling him I had booked us in to eat at our favorite restaurant in Cambridge, I was being a complete planning freak at that time and actually saw the dinner as an inconvenience because we had to cancel a house viewing! lol!!
Anyway because I had booked the resturant I did not expect it in the slightest.

We got to cambridge an hour early and Tom insisted we go out on a punt along the river camb.
He punted us along the camb which was very nice, he pulled the boat over outside the back of kings college which looked beautiful, the sun was setting and he told me he got me an anniversary present.

He pulled out a Thomas Sabo Charm box so I presumed it was a charm for my bracelet. as he passed it to me he got on one knee but I didn't take much notice as we were in a boat and thought he was steadying himself.

I opened the box and saw my ring inside. He told me he loved me blah blah and asked me to marry him and I was so shocked.
I said yes and was very smiley, but it wasn't until he told me he asked my dads permission that morning I burst into tears!
It was as if he was reading my mind as he told me the moment the thought popped into my head :)

The next day we went to a house viewing and saw the house of our dreams, so much so that as soon as we walked out we both looked at each other and were nearly in tears because it was so perfect.

We are due to get the keys on friday :)

After 7.5 years (its now 8 years) Dan surprised me by originally telling me we were going to a dinner party around his sisters making sure I would dress up. So while getting ready I was running late (don't we all) so Dan had to call a cab which I thought was strange but he then spilled the beans saying that we were actually going to the train station.

So after waiting 20 minutes for the cab (that never turned up btw) we ended up walking to the station. But he still wouldn't tell me where we were going but kept asking if I had my passport (we live on the Stansted Express line so we were going to either the airport or Central London). After causing him to slip up I found out that we were going to London but he would tell me where in London.

Once in London Liverpool Street I got dragged onto the tube and ended up at Piccadilly Circus where we ended up watching Phantom of the Opera.

Once the show ended we got onto a Rikshaw to head home... or so I thought, we ended up going to the Wolsley Restaurant and had a gorgeous meal where cheapest champagne cost £11 a glass (we are not made of money).

So with it getting towards 11pm and knowing that our last train was at midnight I started to worry when Dan suddenly decided that he wanted to take a detour away from the tube station and towards the doors of the Ritz Hotel where a doorman greeted us with slight confusion. Once Dan cleared up the confusion that we were actually staying there (I started to say sorry for trying to enter without a reservation) we got taken up to our room where our overnight bags (which were brought up a few days before) were waiting.

So after soaking up some of the room Dan led me over to the chez-longe and progressed onto 1 knee. He started to speak to me about 'us' when the phone rang.... Twice! after confirming that our bags were in fact in our room (twice!) and that we didn't need anything else Dan continued to propose to me. I don't actually remember what he said as my head was all over the place with emotion by I defiantly heard the important words of "will you marry me".

Ive not cried (happy tears) so much in my life and the perfect way to start the Christmas Holidays (he proposed on 19th December) especially after I found out that he had actually planned it all for October 2010 but then my friends got engaged the week before (start of October) so he didn't want our engagement to steal their thunder.

So now its just the planning for the big day now!!!

My h2b proposed to me over the phone :P well, sort of.

We spent the first month of our relationship together, but the next three months apart as I had to go back to England and he had to stay in Spain so we spent a lot of time on the phone during that separation. One night we were talking and I played a song for him - his favourite song. Then he asked me to marry him and I said yes and then that was that :)

We didn't become officially engaged until about 4 months later though, when I got home from uni just before my birthday and there was a little silver box on my desk with a ring inside!

He didnt..... I did! I took him away to Cornwall for his birthday in March, lovely little B&B by the sea, took him out for a posh meal the night before his birthday and was so excited as I knew I was going to ask him the next day! Woke up and gave him his presents, a pen (boring I know, but a very nice pen!) then a little glass paperweight with 'Marry Me' engraved on it! He said he would think about it and tell me by the end of the day.... talk about stressful! He had always said he would never marry again after it all went wrong the first time round! We went to the Eden Project after breakfast and as I was buying the entrance tickets the man on the counter asked me if I wanted to do Gift Aid, I said yes, he asked me my details and if I was Miss/Mrs/Ms. I said Ms. H2B was 'ah, but only till next year!' I turned to him and said 'is that a yes then?' 'Looks that way!' he said. Ever the romantic! So went into the Eden Project entrance a Ms and emerged the other side as an engaged couple! Had a brilliant day and came home later to a big birthday party the kids had arranged with the family and friends there, turned into an impromptu engagement party as well!

I proposed to h2b, on a boat in the middle of Lake Windemere in the Lakes with our close friends.... who knew all about my plan, had it up my sleeve since January....
Haribo ring at the ready and a bottle of champers, our song playing on the iphone.... Believe me... If he would have said no, he was going overboard :0/

my 52b got down on one knee at the end of the night on his brothers wedding. I was sat in the corner of the room and had my little one asleep on my lap and is daughter snuggled up trying to keep warm. I kinda knew it was going to happen that night, though there was a chance it wouldn't if he asked his brother and he said no. We'd had the ring for ages, since befre I got divorced from my ex, cos we knew it would happen at some point

Mine took me to the highest point in lancaster to look over the veiw.... we had been there before but it was such a lovely day (easter Sat 2009) he said he had got me a present.... so i opened it and it said will you marry me on a easter egg!!! so proud!! now we are getting married two years later on easter sunday (cant get married on easter Sat in church) xx

It was December 13th last year and our works Christmas party which was masquerade themed! We were staying at the hotel that night and our best friends were also staying there so we decided that us women would get ready in our room and the men in their rooms. Both men hadn't seen our fancy dress costumes so we were gonna surprise them. Anyway we got ready and the boys came to pick us up and tony my fiance was looking a little unusual and just as we were about to leave he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife I was already crying the second I saw him go down on one knee. Our friends were crying too and I kinda forgot to say yes hehe in all the excitement I didn't even look at the ring and when I did I noticed it was a Thomas sabo engagement ring charm. We picked up my ring which he'd had made and just needed to be sized the next day. I still can't believe it after almost a year now. We tried not to tell anyone in the party as we only wanted to share the news with our friends but my mum who also works with us had it announced by the dj so we ended up kinda having a works party / engagement party.

My h2b had lots of romantic ideas but in the end was so impatient to ask me, that he proposed in his precious Saab in a car park by the river that runs through Stamford after he had picked me up from the train station (the day i moved down to be with him), and then took me for a romantic meal in a lovely Italian restaurant. Bless him, lol. xx

Badly. he was going to wait a few days till we were in front of friends but I signed for the ring at the door that morning so he asked me in the hall after work. No romance hey ho. i love him anyway x

Mark took me to London for a romantic weekend away at the end of September (after we had been together 6 months). Almost from day one of our relationship we have talked about getting married one day, but I wasn't sure he would propose so soon-even though I really really hoped he would!! All my friends said he was going to ask me the weekend but I was too scared to get my hopes up in case he didn't. Friday night we went to see the show Wicked, and during the interval he asked me if I was happy. I replied that I had never been happier and told him how much I loved him. He then started looking for something in his bag and said something like "well this will either make your evening perfect or may ruin everything". He then got down on one knee, presented me with a ring and asked me to marry him. It was sooooo romantic. I said yes immediately and flung my arms around him, I was oblivious to everyone around us lol. We then had to go back to watch the 2nd half of the performance and I was shaking so much that I poured my wine all over my arm! We had to wait till after the performance to tell our family and friends!

all of these stories are great!! ours is a bit less romantic hehe...

we met at our friend lewis' 21st birthday party and started goiing out a few days later. lewis was being a bit of a fool saying u cant go out with finlay, he's MY friend (!!). 2 weeks later we wen down to edinburgh for a night out ( i still had a flat from uni there i ws supposed to go back, oops!) n wen we got back on the saturday we were meeting lewis n decided to wind him up telling him i ws pregnant n we were getting married! th next day we were stinking hungover n went into town to meet another pal. sitting in the pub drinking juice finlay turned to me and said 'why don't we?', 'what?', 'get married' and that was it!! 23 days after meeting and 18 of going out! hadnt said i love you to each other or done anything frisky yet hehe!!!

got my first engagement ring (obv very cheap in case i buggered off!) a few days later but kept it quiet from all but a few.
couple of years later on our first hol together on the last nite i made him phone my dad and ask his permission n were then 'officially' engaged!! n got a nice proper ring for that one : ) then went up to the top of the hotel and got smashed on champagne cocktails, woohoo!!

funny bit is tho, this time last year finlay got my first engagement ring stuck on his ring finger! was on there for bout 2 months until it started to really dig in and he worked up the courage to go to the jeweller to get it cut off! all buckled n stones out of it, the guy said ul never get that back on but managed to bend it back into shape and still wear it!! hahaha finlay is a total dafty but thats why i love him so much!!

Growing up I had never been on holiday abroad. So feb last year (just after valentine's) he organised a few nights aways. !st night at the Sofitel at Heathrow terminal 5, and the 2nd in Paris!! Was so chuffed that I was going to Paris. I remember he spent most of the time worrying about me touching his coat, but I didn't think anything of it. Well the night we were in Paris, we went up the Eiffel Tower! So beautiful at night, I might add!!! Well he's a rather shy person, and as the top floor made me panic cause I dont like heights, and the 2nd floor was filled with kids, we started walking down the stairwell, when he said he wanted to put his earring in. Next thing I know he's down on one knee in the stairwell! Was so chuffed.
