Sorry if this is a thick question but just wondered how you invite mum and dad and in laws on the invite? Our invites are from my parents but I've no idea whether I put mum and dad when I write them out? Thanks in advance x

i think it depends how formal your wedding is ..... if you want to put mum n dad on then do it ... it is YOUR wedding

Ours are from my parents as they're paying and hosting, so they addressed them formally to his parents ie with their first name, surname, and title. They don't know his parents very well so putting first names only didn't feel right. My parents aren't having an invitation as they're hosting, and so aren't exactly going to invite themselves lol; we had an extra one made as a keepsake.

I think it would be weird to address his parents' one to 'mum and dad' as they're coming from your parents, not you. If they were coming from you it would be different and I think in that case it would be fine.

Yeah I agree with Barbie on this one...if they are from your parents on the invite then put their names and not Mum and Dad otherwise it reads as if your parents are calling them Mum and Dad! xx
