I've never worn a pair in my life! But my dress is too long and my h2b is a foot taller.
    So scared!

practice! ive worn heels that much i can run in 6inch platforms haha. its true though, practice makes perfect. just forget you are wearing them and walk normally and confidently. make sure they fit perfectly too, its sooo hard to walk in heels if they are too big as they flop up and down. if theyr slightly tight its like torture lol.x

Well, Possum, without wishing to state the obvious, you

    a) put on the shoes, then
    b) walk around in them..

Slight exaggeration saying I've never worn any - I had a pair of 1 inch heels (thick heel) at school and my friends laughed at me for how I walked!
    I just fall off them!

Again, and without wishing to repeat myself, I'm going to refer back to my alphabetical breakdown from a little earlier.

PUT THEM ON. WALK ABOUT A BIT. Yes, you'll fall off. But you'll fall off less and less with practice. Which is why we practise. Your other options, as I see it, are as follows -

    a) find a magic spell so that you can walk in heels the first time you put them on.
    b) wear flats.

I hate heels, but I've trained myself to be able to convincingly walk in them for a short period of time. It's not fun, and they come off very quickly, but it's worth it for those occasions where heels are necessary.

Oh right! Thought you were angry with me.

I have extremely flat feet - no arches, and my knees point in so my ankles pull my feet off. Stupid feet grrrrr.
May get a really cheap pair on ebay and give them ago.
    Thanks!

Nah, just my natural sarcasm :D

Ok, if you want a HELPFUL tip, buy some of those gel cushions - won't help with falling off, but will stop the balls of your feet knackering within a few minutes.

Have you tried insoles for flat feet? Bit of arch support may not go amiss.. Have to be careful you can still get your feet in them once you've shoved all this in though :)

Ooh, and if you're planning on 'building up' a bit, you could start with boots, bit more ankle support.

I have flat feet too Possum and once you're used to them, they make you walk better in our predicament! After a week in a new job of wearing heels I'm now more than comfortable in them all day.

Failing that, there is a book called how to walk in high heels... I think it might involve balancing a book on your head at the same time tho!

Possum - if you have what is called a valgus knee - i.e they point in and you also have flat feet you need insoles that will support your arches, which will also go someway to aligning your knees to how they should be. Your hips will be thrown out of anatomical alignment too so you'll have an even harder time walking in high heels than you would if your ankles knees and hips were how they are supposed to be!

You need to go see your doc and get a referral to an orthotist who can sort this out for you honey - failing that go see a podiatrist - although an orthotist would be better!

I would wear them around the house while you're in to get used to them, then have a little walk along the street and back maybe - just watch out for gaps in the pavement they're a proper nightmare for heels, mine always slip in!

About a year and a half. And have had previous ones before that.
They're blue and just fit a normal shoe but are wedge shaped slightly - the heel is about 3/4 of a cm thick then tails off before the ball of the foot. And there is a bit to form an arch on the foot.
They make no difference to me :(

Sounds like high density EVA insoles.

Did they check you for a leg length discrepancy?

You need to get back and tell them you dont think they are helping - or come see me lol ;-D

I would save yourself all the hassle hun and get yourself a tiny little stool to stand on during the service. (And im being serious) A friend of mine did this! She couldn't wear heels and so she bought a stool to stand on! It was a very light-hearted wedding so it was taken in jest but for her it was a lifesaver! Also another wedding I have attended the bride had the same problem, did not want to wear heels so they sat down during the ceremony! Noone can tell the height difference when your sat down ;o)

Which ever way you go with it hun I wish you luck, I couldn't begin to imagine wearing anything other than heels as ive worn 4 inch heels all my life so now when I wear flats my feet kill me :o( x x x

DONT BUY CHEAP HEELS TO PRACTICE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheap heels are not made in the same way as proper shoes are, so as a complete novice, you really need to be buying shoes from a proper shoe shop, not places like primark, new look etc, go to clarks, barretts, etc and invest in good quality, otherwise you will end up walking funny in them.
apart from that, buy shoes that have a strap, and until you feel comfy, dont try sandals, have proper shoes with some support.
    cannot stress that enough!!!!!

Get rid of the UGGS! They are sooo bad for your feet!

Start with a small heel and work your way up honey.

Flat shoes are not great for your feet either - far better off with a small heel!

Google how to walk in high heels properly. There are videos with tips on youtube, wikihow and ehow.

Watch the tips and then practise alot. :-) There is a trick to readjusting your posture. You need to let the shoes do this and not fight is. Heels will make you put your shoulders back, bum out and chest out. Go with it.
