    Hi all,

I am getting married in Feb 2018 and I have an appointment in a wedding dress shop this Saturday. If I was to find 'The One' is it too early to buy? I know I should look around a few shops before doing anything however I don't want to try on 100s of dresses.

    Any advice? xx

I bought my dress Jan 2015 for my wedding Oct 2017. I had looked around quite a few shops before buying it and the place that I got mine from was off the shelf so there was no certainty it would be there when I went back. Plus I am confident that my body shape wont change and that I wont loose / put on any weight.

    It doesn't hurt looking x

My OHs Auntie bought her dress 2 years before, but she bought a dress size down saying she's going to loose the weight, she ended up at a mad panic trying to fit into it before the wedding :/ I'd say a year before is the max, but each to there own :) x

I personally would be hesitant to buy so early in advance. I would worry that I'd regret my decision at a later date, as it's a long time to wait - there will be new designs coming out in the time between so you could find something you love even more. I had my first dress appointment 1 year before the wedding and chose a dress at that appointment. I'd always had the 1 year mark in my head to find a dress.

I agree with Flossie, you don't want to get something too early and end up regretting the decision if a new dress/style comes out that you wish you'd tried on.

I went 11 months before my wedding and that seemed about right to me. I was so excited to go dress shopping as soon as I got engaged but I resisted the urge as I didn't want to do something too soon and regret my decision x

There's plenty of time - I only found mine 8 months before the wedding, but then we haven't had a very long engagement. We got engaged June 2015 and are getting married next month.

I have brought my dress. Purchased april 2016 and my wedding was 11/11/17.. Its been brought forward to May 17 but id never change it because i love it so much! The bridal shop said it could take a while to come in 6-8 months so im glad i ordered early! I am an organised person though :)

Hi, I've had mine for 2 years and I get married in August! The wedding dress shop said that if you find the one then your best to order it as if the designer stops making it they will still honour your order. So they ordered it but they tell them when your wedding is and your actual dress won't come in till about 6-9'months before the wedding. Well that's what happened with my dress anyway. Also if your have ordered on you can pay it off gradually

Thanks for all your help! I found the one on Saturday! We ordered it as it takes a year to come in, then leaves enough time for alterations :) x

Fab news Anna - congrats on finding "the one"!

Ellie - mine took 7 months, though they estimated 5 months when I ordered.
